    I use a hand held pressure steamer to defrost mine in minutes. It's worth it just for this alone & a shop vac for the water.

    This is not the only way to defrost it. I let the freezer thaw out unplugged, removed the white plug inside the bottom of the freezer and removed the drain plug on the outside and let the liquid run into a bowl. Easy and done

    Yes use bowls of hot water in the chest but try a hair dryer on a cool setting at an angle to blow air under the thick ice but keep it moving, just a few seconds in each position and a plastic ice scrapper to give an impact shock to the ice, 392lit chest freezer de-iced in 15mins, no sweat

      Why not 'get er done' and use a heat gun set on high?

    I bought a defrost spray in the supermarket. Spray it all around. After 10 minutes I just prise the ice away and it comes off in blocks. Carry to the sink. The whole thing is done in about 20 minutes.

    Lame. With the drawn plug 2 inches from the floor, how do they expect water to flow uphill into a bucket 12 inches high? And not too many houses have floor drains.

    • @deusexaethera
      @deusexaethera 4 роки тому +7

      Let it drain onto a towel instead of into a bucket. How much frost is in your freezer anyway?

  • @floridagoods

    I power washed with a regular hose and jet setting, it was done I'm 5 min, and my ice was 2-3 inches thick, no hot water needed. My only problem was I couldn't get it to drain, so I had to tip it on its side. My freezer is outside.

    • @fairlessdave1834
      @fairlessdave1834 Рік тому +4

      That was my first question. They show the hose angling up from the plug. Water is not going to flow from the bottom of the freezer up into a hose and then down into a bucket.

      If it's near a door, run it outside and lower than the floor.

    Ice builds up in the lid after a while .
    When defrosting, Water will run down the outside back of freezer and likely cause damage to your floor and possibly freezer electrical parts .
    Do you have a solution ?

    • @bullmoosepiper7732
      @bullmoosepiper7732 Рік тому +3

      Stephen, I know your question is a little old, but what I do is wedge a large towel in between the back of the lid in the open position and the back of the chest freezer. This allows the melting ice to absorb into the towel and not run down the back of the unit. Hope this helps.

    when i turn mine off, it doesn't. when you turn off a unit it should defrost on it's own. I turned mine off and left the door open to help it. Came back a day later and it was running like crazy. I thought I done something wrong so tried it again. same results. so now this video say UNPLUG it. Then why is there an OFF mark? Can anyone answer this? It certainly doesn't turn off.

    Can someone explain why it can’t be plugged into an extension cord

    • @keny46
      @keny46 3 роки тому +2

      It all has to do with wire gauge and length of the cable. Most appliances are made with the intention that you will have an outlet close by and they size the wire gauge and length of the cord accordingly. Basically what would happen is if you would use a very small wire gauge extension cord with a high amperage device because of the high amperage draw the cord would heat up potentially melting and causing a fire.

      @@keny46 Most freezers won't use more than a few hundred watts. Don't use a shitty extension cord. If in doubt run it for a while and make sure it doesn't get warm. Where the freezers plugs into the extension cord make sure its not sitting in an area where water could make contact with it.

      You're trying to tell us that the foam can't take a hair dryer? Lmao
      Listen, I have been in refrigeration and appliances since the 80's. At the shop we use the water hose to defrost. On site we use heat guns.
      We've been doing this for over 40 years and I've never seen damaged insulation from defrosting.
      We even convert these freezers into smokers called a "Cajun microwave".
      I've seen these units inside and out. Your information is erroneous.
