That Lazy Snail hell yes we do (i kNow its so gOod) by the way, thank you very much for this video its very interesting to watch and im really glad that it is about women of hamilton because they were a w e s o m e you did a really good job!
Fun Fact about Eliza While she had been extremely heartbroken over the deaths of her husband, Son, both her sisters, and her daughter losing her mind, she took care of 6 other children, started an orphanage and kept her husband’s legacy going while she was taking care of 6 kids and was in debt, honestly what an amazing woman she was.
"Can I tell you what I'm proudest of" (the orphanage) "I established the first private orphanage in New York City" (the orphanage) "I helped to raise hundreds of children, I get to see them growing up. In their eyes I see you Alexander. I see you every time. And when my time is up, have I done enough, will they tell your story?"
"But, Eliza was crafty and managed to survive Hamiltons debt with the help of her friends who made a very secret trust fund." Wait... "I'm a trust fund, baby, you can trust me."
In a very brief and cut part of the song in the middle of "Blow Us All Away" Burr goes to Hamilton and says "your son's engaging in a duel tomorrow, Theodosia told me to tell you" so she was almost mentioned twice. >.< I heard that little bit and I was like "good for you Theo, at least you tried".
@@anneberlynvalladolid8005 It was! I really would have liked to see if Philip and Theodosia had a friendship, because the line implies they did. That might have actually made Philip's death worse though, and that already scars people. lol
Elizabeth Schuyler: LOOK AROUND LOOK AROUND AT HOW LUCKY WE ARE TO BE *ALIVE* RIGHT NOW Also Elizabeth Schuyler: My younger sister died 2 of my sons died my huband cheated on me and died my mom died my father died ... LOOK AT WHERE WE AR-
No Eliza had two sisters names Catherine and Cornelia. They died AFTER Eliza so Eliza still had her two other sisters which we all didn't even know existed except for me
I live near Trinity Church, where Angelica, Eliza, and Ham were buried. I bring flowers every month to their graves. Though in the winter they don't really last!
That is so cool. I think it's so nice that you put flowers on their graves every month. I wonder if when I visited the cemetery last month some of the flowers there were yours.
I can't remember if I went to the cemetery at in like early December last year or sometime in mid May this year... time flies, but I did see some flowers there (and lots of money)
Eliza has gone through the most Son died Her sister Peggy died Her sister Angelica died Husband died Husband cheated on her She told everyone’s stories but her own. Her family is basically corrupted and I’m here crying over my Hampstead dying yet she basically has her whole life dying.. But we should all the job of telling her story..
I think there should be more Schuyler sisters in the world. They were so close as sisters should be and even on their own they were legitness. Or should I say legitneth.
Hamilton: I could either go with my beautiful, idealistic, patient, and all-around angelic wife on a vacation to Albany or stay here writing papers. Have a nice vacation, Betsy.
Miss Frostbitten everyone makes her look horrible QwQ she had an abusive husband and a daughter to protect from him so she looked for love in other men
Great video, very well done, but i my opinion, you kind of misrepresented one Miss Maria Lewis. (more kind of glazed over) Okay so, basically, what I know: Maria grew up in a poor family and was married off basically as soon as she was able to. Her family arranged a marriage with James Reynolds, who was about TWENTY YEARS older than her. He was rich, though, so that was good enough for her family. While James was rich, and Maria did then get some of the money for her family, she was not allowed to manage it, but, apparently, she wished to give it to her family. During the Hamilton affair, she was 23. In letters, while barely reading between the lines it is VERY obvious that the whole thing was planned by James. For 10 years, she was abused very harshly by James, and had many ACTUAL SCARS. During the scandal, before James sent the letter, she sent her own, warning Alexander that James had a plan to get money. The basics of the note was 'I feel terrible that this would ever happen and I'm just terrified for my daughter. If I could never be born, I feel that would be for the best.' When 23 year-old Maria approached 34 year-old Hamilton, according to him, it wasn't at all obviously seductive, and you would be mistaken to believe that it was an immediately sexual relationship, as she had at least three separate meetings with the man before any intercourse. He also didn't immediately give her money either. She only got the funds after telling Alexander of her troubles of not being allowed money from her husband, and him being verbally and physically abusive. After being told this, Alex gave her money not for sex, but just for the purpose of getting any sort of money for food and/or divorce. (In the words of Alexander: "Some conversation ensued from which it was quickly apparent that other than pecuniary consolation would be acceptable") She actually did use some of this for part of a less-than-average price divorce fund. Legally speaking, yes, Maria was a pawn, as James was in court for this. Also, it was not the Southern Motherfucking Democratic-Republicans who forced Alexander Hamilton to reveal the affair, but James Reynolds himself. James was jailed for a scheme dealing with unpaid back wages that were meant for Revolutionary War veterans. He accused Alexander of being the real criminal. Doing this, he knew he was forcing Alexander to either admit (falsely) to the crime, or (truthfully) to the affair. He chose the one that wouldn't get him a sentence. If, just by looking it up, anyone is somehow not convinced of James abusing Maria, please remember that she was able to be divorced on the charges. In the 1790's. Without being super rich. After being divorced, she and Aaron Burr kept in touch. Despite her lack of education, Aaron was pretty cool with her, and actually treated her like a human, not as an uneducated woman. (Aaron Burr was actually one hell of a feminist) After the Reynolds pamphlet, in which Alexander made the mistake of mentioning MANY times the full name of the woman he had an affair with. Because of this, after escaping an abusive relationship, she still got verbal abuse hurled at her if she dared to go outside. Thanks a lot, dingus. Anyway, she moved to England with her new husband to escape this, and while there are no divorce papers, or any proof of divorce from her second husband, her divorce was assumed, given that she came back to the US with a different husband. Despite Maria's misfortune, all she really wanted was for her daughter, Susan, to get a good education, but she couldn't teach her herself, so her daughter, as a woman, in a family that wasn't rich, had to get into a boarding school. She, however, managed this, because of one William Eustis, who had connections in a Boston boarding school for formal education. Guess who petitioned him to help Susan and Maria? Aaron Burr. Yay (god, I hope someone read this, this took forever to write down. If you want to know anything else about Maria, seriously, just ask, I probably know the answer.)
Wow, this is awesome and I definitely feel a lot smarter, I'm really glad you chose to write all this down because I honestly didn't know a lot of it. I'm sorry I glazed over Maria a little. I was struggling to find sources on her and the ones I was finding, well a lot of them slam on her because of her affair with Hamilton. I don't doubt the severity of her situation which, from everything I've read about her seems really shitty. I just had a deadline for the project (I was doing it for school) and I didn't have a lot of time to really dig into the history of each person. I really loved hearing all about Maria though and I'm really curious where you learned all this? I'd love to do read more about her. If you'd like, I'd totally be down for doing a video on just Maria if you wanted to help me compile some information about her. You seem like you really know your stuff.
Thanks so much, and, for an answer, I mostly just followed sources into their sources. Reading the actual Reynolds pamphlet gave me quite a nice bit of context (At the bottom of *this* article www.vulture.com/2016/01/read-the-actual-reynolds-pamphlet-from-hamilton.html you can read it in Ham's words and writing.) I also went to the wikipedia pages of both Maria and The Reynolds Scandal and followed each of the links, and followed the links in those pages, and then followed any links on those pages, etc, etc. Each time I got more information, and basically, I do this with a lot of things. (It's the sort of things I do while other people my age are doing things like "socialising" and junk) Some important letters: Maria Reynolds to Alexander Hamilton, regarding James's plan: - founders.archives.gov/documents/Hamilton/01-10-02-0031 - founders.archives.gov/documents/Hamilton/01-10-02-0126 (readable, if not well written) James Reynolds to Alexander Hamilton: - founders.archives.gov/documents/Hamilton/01-10-02-0029 - founders.archives.gov/documents/Hamilton/01-10-02-0037 (seems to be taking lessons for Margo Roth Speigelman regarding capitalisation) Anyway, yeah, this was still a super awesome video. I'm curious about how it was taken by your teacher. It was super unique and well informed, so I'm sure my history and English teacher would most definitely appreciate this video. (I actually showed this to my drama teacher, who teaches History and English to some younger classes, and she freaking loved it!)
Empress.Lollipopsie wow! Thanks! Now I know something new. I have a whole new view on Maria now. I think it's easy for anyone looking at Maria for the first time to see her as nothing more than a poor, abused housewife forced into prostitution by her husband. In truth, she was much more and was just very misunderstood
I feel so bad for her and always had. To me it was so obvious that she was being used by him. She was a caring woman that people misjudged because of her being used
I guess everyone is HELPLESS for Angelica Edit: OMG OVER 400 LIKES OMG THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH! Double edit: OH MY POTATOES LOOK AT ALL THOSE LIKES THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
A.Ham : ANGELICA I NEED SOME DIRT Angelica : what kind of dirt? A.Ham : smelly. Angelica : got u fam,Jefferson sleeps with no under wear and has hundreds of slaves A.Ham : Couldn't you have led with the slaves? Angelica : no.
True, although the Hamiltons owned slaves as well so that wasn't the issue it was the "treatment" of the slaves. Basically, they were all horrible but they were also brilliant it was a product of the time they lived in.
Fun fact: Jefferson had a sexual relationship with one of his slaves (her name was Sally aka “Sally be a lamb darling won’t you open it”) and I’m like 60% sure she was a minor
some other beautiful awesome american women are Dolley Madison, Martha Washington, Sally Hemmings, and (my personal absolute f a v o r i t e) Adrienne de Lafayette. brief summaries of all of them: (note: brief is an understatement, I'm a writer) Dolley Madison married James Madison married in 1794 and actually, they would not have met if it wasn't for Aaron Burr. He was originally going to try to marry her but he pulled an Angelica and introduced her to James, hence their wonderful marriage. Dolley is most famous for going back into the White House as it was burning as the British attacked in the War of 1812 to rescue the portrait of George Washington that is now on the dollar bill. She married once before Jamie Boy and her husband and youngest son were killed by a sickness. - Martha Washington was, obviously, the wife of George Washington. Martha could be compared to that of Abigail Adams in what she did. She served soldiers during the Rev. War and helped them heal after injuries as well as feeding them. ( i dont have as much info about her as the other gals because i dont research her as much as the other gals) - Sally Hemmings whoo she's a doozy. Her story is kind of awkward, as she was taken advantage of by jefferson and she had i believe five kids with him? At the time Jefferson was not married since his wife, Martha, had recently died and I'm guessing he was desperate. Sally and Jefferson's eldest daughter, Patsy, were actually good childhood friends, but that relationship fell apart after Patsy found out about her father's affair with her. (I read a book about some of the kids she had with tjeffs and i found it super interesting. most of this information came from that book.) - (OH BOI) Adrienne de Lafayette was a w e s o m e. She literally sent her only son to a country she had never been to, watched her mother, grandmother, and sister be guillotined in front of her, and be shunned by her own country just to be imprisoned so she could be with her husband. This girl literally did a n y t h i n g for Lafayette. She and Lafayette married when she was fourteen and he was sixteen, and when Lafayette was nineteen he went off to fight in the Rev. War. I believe he returned home for a brief time to convince Adrienne to name their only son after George Washington. 10/10 dad of the year. Adrienne and her two daughters stayed with Lafayette in a horrible prison for three years while their son was sent for his own safety to stay in America. She died with Lafayette at her side in 1807, with her last words to her husband being "Je suis toute à vous" (I am all yours). DEDICATION. - just sort of wanted to rant about my favorite historical women
You are my favorite comment so far, honestly, thank you for throwing out some information about the other awesome women. So many times while I was working on the video did I consider including Martha and Dolly because I also love them so much and I felt like they were relevant? But there just isn't enough time. I'm so glad you commented this because like yes, people need to talk more about these women. I didn't know very much about Adrienne but like now I'm inspired to do tons of research on her because yes, she sounds so amazing. Thank you so much for posting this comment, it adds so much to the video and you basically said all that I didn't get to say about these women (and more). This comment honestly made my day.
animusqueen you are my favorite person ever. I'm starting out writing, but I write along the lines of fantasy, but honestly, this comment makes me want to write about history and these women. So thank you bunches, I respect you so much right now
i am flattered, thank you so much!! i'd love to see other people try to write about the ladies. If you want to read some about some of the ladies i definitely recommend the book Alex and Eliza, its a super good book! my friend is also reading a book called The Hamilton Affair (which I'm trying to bribe her into letting me read it) and its the love story of Alex and Eliza but longer?? idk. But anyways thank you so much!!
I didn't see that in any of the biographies I read through for this project? But it sounds like an interesting fact, where did you hear it I'd like to learn more?
Lin honestly left almost nothing out, the more I research the more amazed I am at all the little details that he crammed into the show. I am also not surprised that Burr proposed and got rejected, the Schuyler sisters were essentially aristocracy and the portrayals of Burr give the impression that he was kind of a womanizer.
Yes but he had good creative reasoning for doing that, it would have been kind of difficult to explain why Alexander and Angelica's relationship was so meaningful in such a short space without creating a love triangle, plus you can't blame him wanting a little more drama.
Weird facts about the kids in Hamilton: 1) Philip was kind of like a mini-Alexander. He got super ticked off when his teacher made him take out a bit in an essay he wrote. 2) William Hamilton took part in the California Gold rush. 3) Angelica Hamilton liked to do duets with her dad on the piano. 4) Philip Hamilton (the second) was nicknamed “the lawyer of the poor” for the charity cases he took as a lawyer. 5) Theodosia Burr learned how to read at age three. Like what the frick 6) Lafayette’s only son was named Georges Washington de Lafayette. 7) That’s all I got. 8) Have a nice day!
I saw a portrait of Hamilton at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and HOLY CRAP it makes him look so. Frickin. Weird. Also the one of George Washington on the 1$ bill makes him look like he has some serious constipation.
Okay, I understand everybody kind of hates Aaron Burr because he literally murdered Alexander Hamilton, but he actually suffered SO much death in his life. - his parents died when he was only two - the grandparents that took care of him died of yellow fever her shortly after taking him in - later in life, his wife, Theodosia, died due to stomach cancer -His loving daughter, Theodosia, dies at sea -His only grandson died of malaria -his only sister and sibling died extremly young Yeesh
Is it just funny how lin-manuel Miranda was helping victims in Puerto Rico from hurricane Maria and right after the song Hurricane the Reynolds pamphlet plays... Where he has the affair... With Maria Reynolds... Haha...
Can we all just take a moment to thank Lin-Manuel Miranda for not only making a musical masterpiece, but for making Alexander Hamilton and his amazing life story more well known? And for showing just how much of a badass Elizabeth Schuyler really was? God bless you, Lin-Manuel Miranda. I wanna read the biography it’s based on now.

James Reynolds had Maria sleep around in hope of money and blackmail to get money, he would use the threat of taking or even hurting their daughter Susan Reynolds as a way of getting her to do what he demanded. she went to Hamilton originally because her husband wanted to be able to use the sexual relationship against him. Hamilton and Maria's relationship went far enough to where she didn't want him to he affected by James's plan and sent him a letter before James's letter warning him about what James was planning on doing and that she was sorry
I think I remember hearing this somewhere? I just didn't spend as much time on Maria because it was a lot harder to find information on her. I'm sure there's a lot more to her I just honestly didn't have time to delve into it a whole lot because this was a school project and had a due date.
You know I always thought lin should make a musical called Schuyler where he just talks about peggy, angelica and eliza. Like, we find out more about angelica and peggy and eliza when they weren't on screen. :)
*"I interview every soldier who fought by your side."* *"I rely on Angelca. While she's alive we tell your story"* *"I raise funds in D.C. for the Washington Monument"* *"I speak out against slavery, you could have done so much if you only had time."* *"Oh. You are "Best of Wives and Best of Woman".
I kinda don't like how you shadowed burr as "okay" he was actually a HUGE feminist. He was really really smart and cared a lot about his family. He was a careful dude yeah. He was quiet about most things and cautious but he did have beliefs. Just no one recognized him for them. He believed in equal women rights as much as Alexander believed in the national bank or something else. He would often tell his daughter that she could do anything and he really was a good guy. When he killed Alexander he felt absolutely terrible. It weighed him down, a lot. He always believed that Alexander was his friend but just lost his cool after the years and years of arguing with Alex. Who could blame him? Alexander was a stuffy guy most of the time and burr just had had enough of it. So honestly he was amazing just like Theo and I believe burr was perfect for Theo.
I'm sorry I didn't really portray Burr very nicely. He did some questionable things after he shot A. Ham so I base a lot of my opinions off of that, I have also read some not so nice things about him in my research. However, I don't doubt in anyway that he was a huge feminist in fact I love him and admire him for it. In my opinion it makes him better every other founding father and the way he took care of his family (instead of being an idiot like Hamilton) was wonderful and very admirable. I think of all the founding fathers he is by far one of the better ones. I did really want to focus more on the women in this video than their husbands so I didn't really portray any of the men in a positive light tbh (I should have been better about that). However I will admit I am a little biased towards Theodosia because I think she was so awesome.
Glory Hallelujah! It's alright. I didn't mean to get a bit harsh on that but I do believe he probably went into a depression after shooting Alexander which made him do bad things but I also believe Lin could have showed him a little bit better in the musical as well, he wasn't a complete villain in the story, he tried his best. But yes he made mistakes, so did Alex and everyone else.
Yeah, I think you're probably right. After everything with Hamilton and then his daughter died, his life really did go downhill from there, and I feel sad that he was always second best all the time. But I think it is kind of fitting for Lin to paint him as the villain since he shot A. Ham and the story is about Hamilton. Although I'd totally be down for a musical about Burr, especially if Leslie is the one singing it. Also, I didn't think you were harsh at all, I am really glad you explained your opinions and why you felt like that. I get a lot of comments with people just saying "I don't like how you portrayed (insert name here)" with no explanation or reasoning as to why and it's hard for me to work on improving my content if people don't explain their criticism.
Soooooo.......in Helpless he likes that Eliza is helpless. In Say No to This, Maria said she was helpless......... Moral of the story:Hamilton likes helpless women.
Remember when Maria said “this one’s mine sir” in Say No To This? And remember when Eliza said “grab my sister, and whisper, yo, this one’s mine.” in Helpless?
Hamilton was a bad husband I mean.. Angelica - her own sister?!? Maria - some girl!? John Laurens - HIS BEST FRIENd THAT HE LITERALLY INVITED TO A THRESoME
Peggy is lucky. Not only does she get more attention than Eliza, the title character's wife, but the other 12 siblings didn't even make it into the musical.
I included them in that statement because death doesn't make a person less successful and neither does poor mental health. Van Gogh became more successful after his death and Ned Vizzini wrote great books even while struggling with depression.
Oh my god-- Yes, he may have had relations with Laurens, but it was very obvious he was in love with Eliza. Lams shippers tend to ignore his letters to Eliza that constantly express his love to the woman and serenade the little bits and pieces of his letters to Laurens that mention the slightest bits of affection. Hamilton loved Eliza, and I have no idea what proof you're speaking of that he didn't.
So you know how all of the women in the musical have a color that they wear which becomes the color people associate them with, right? And we never see Theodosia in the musical, but I've always associated purple with her for some reason? Anyway, i was reminded of that when i saw that you colored her wearing purple lol.
Ahh I'm really glad I fit your vision. I always think of Theodosia in purple because Burr wears a lot of purple and for some reason I think they should match? I always imagine Theodosia in like a dark purple and little Theo in like a pale pastel purple. I often wish that Lin put them in the show, but I understand why he couldn't (too many characters).
Can we just appreciate Eliza being so strong? She seriously was so strong loosing so many people and paying off debt and raising many kids who kept on his legacy. She really is an amazing person who has been through so much grief and is such a light in dark times and experiences.
The orphan girl was Frances Fanny Antill, she lived with them for ten years, till she was twelve, I think she never quite got to know her parents, I think she should be considered a family member, even though she went to live with her aunt...

the part about eliza isn’t actually true. it took them 2 years to get back in touch after the winter ball. after that she was supposed to get married to henry livingston. she escaped the wedding after hamilton traveled for three days straight and got shot in the process by British soldiers to talk to elizas parents for consent to marry their daughter. after hearing his story they agreed and called off the wedding with henry and they got married that winter.
For anyone wondering why Maria Reynolds' portrait isn't on the thumbnail, it's simple. Maria never had nearly enough money for her own portrait. Which is also why people on tiktok just use pictures of Jasmin from the musical while talking about Maria.
I’m a year late to this video but it’s so interesting!! I LOVE how you talked about Theodosia she was such an amazing woman I can’t believe we didn’t hear about her more in the musical! Honestly I think Theodosia is such a role model and one of my favorite ladies in history so thanks for including her and sharing her story! Because she’s not just Burr’s wife she is so much more!!
i really like this alot. it broke my heart learning about eliza through the musical and i hear alot of people get really curious of Eliza role as a home making... its honestly incredible how women at that time as home makers while supporting their husband's active roles. and they knew their place in a way, despite knowing that women had so much more potential to be educated, and they taught their children to understand why its so important. So its very nice to learn about these women who in history makes them seem like just suppoorters of their husband, but they were very much the rock and reminder oand served as the backbone of history. it just so happens women didnt have the same voice in history, but it makes it all the more beautiful once we get the chance to hear about how women in all their efforts, didnt fight for recognition but worked in the background to serve as they knew what was more important, the future kids that would inherit whatever their parents left them.
Ahh thank you, I tried to make it really informative but also not too boring with tons of dates and stuff and I did a lot of research to make it as accurate as possible. I was disappointed that there was no really informative stuff about the women during the founding of America so I made it myself. We need more Girl Power
Did you make the information yourself? Or did you find it yourself? Also, I find the way you did the video very creative and cool. It was neatly made and interesting to watch, the pace was in time.
Thank you I really love doing speed drawing and stop motion stuff. I wrote a script for the video, but all the information I learned from reading books and websites, I have 3 or 4 biographies (about Hamilton, Burr, Thomas Jefferson etc) I used for references. It was actually a school project for my history class so all the sources are creditable too.
Damn Maria. You got James, had an affair with Hamilton AND cheated on you affair with a guy you soon married after the affair was over? Talk about an open relationship, jeez

I'm 17, I can't even imagine getting married at 15, times really have changed, I'm so glad I don't have to get married.

@@gamingwithmaxb519 and I'm still not through, I ask myself what would you do if you had more TIME!
Great video, very well done, but i my opinion, you kind of misrepresented one Miss Maria Lewis. (more kind of glazed over)
Okay so, basically, what I know:
Maria grew up in a poor family and was married off basically as soon as she was able to.
If I could never be born, I feel that would be for the best.'
When 23 year-old Maria approached 34 year-old Hamilton, according to him, it wasn't at all obviously seductive, and you would be mistaken to believe that it was an immediately sexual relationship, as she had at least three separate meetings with the man before any intercourse.
(Aaron Burr was actually one hell of a feminist)
After the Reynolds pamphlet, in which Alexander made the mistake of mentioning MANY times the full name of the woman he had an affair with.
Aaron Burr.
Yay
(god, I hope someone read this, this took forever to write down.
Reading the actual Reynolds pamphlet gave me quite a nice bit of context (At the bottom of *this* article www.vulture.com/2016/01/read-the-actual-reynolds-pamphlet-from-hamilton.html you can read it in Ham's words and writing.)
I also went to the wikipedia pages of both Maria and The Reynolds Scandal and followed each of the links, and followed the links in those pages, and then followed any links on those pages, etc, etc. Each time I got more information, and basically, I do this with a lot of things. (It's the sort of things I do while other people my age are doing things like "socialising" and junk)
Some important letters:
Maria Reynolds to Alexander Hamilton, regarding James's plan:
- founders.archives.gov/documents/Hamilton/01-10-02-0031
- founders.archives.gov/documents/Hamilton/01-10-02-0126

James Reynolds to Alexander Hamilton:
- founders.archives.gov/documents/Hamilton/01-10-02-0029
- founders.archives.gov/documents/Hamilton/01-10-02-0037
(seems to be taking lessons for Margo Roth Speigelman regarding capitalisation)
Anyway, yeah, this was still a super awesome video.
Empress.Lollipopsie thank you for those enlightening details (:

True, although the Hamiltons owned slaves as well so that wasn't the issue it was the "treatment" of the slaves. Basically, they were all horrible but they were also brilliant it was a product of the time they lived in.

some other beautiful awesome american women are Dolley Madison, Martha Washington, Sally Hemmings, and (my personal absolute f a v o r i t e) Adrienne de Lafayette. brief summaries of all of them: (note: brief is an understatement, I'm a writer)
Dolley Madison married James Madison married in 1794 and actually, they would not have met if it wasn't for Aaron Burr.
-
Martha Washington was, obviously, the wife of George Washington. Martha could be compared to that of Abigail Adams in what she did. She served soldiers during the Rev. War and helped them heal after injuries as well as feeding them. ( i dont have as much info about her as the other gals because i dont research her as much as the other gals)
-
Sally Hemmings whoo she's a doozy. (I read a book about some of the kids she had with tjeffs and i found it super interesting. most of this information came from that book.)
-
(OH BOI) Adrienne de Lafayette was a w e s o m e. DEDICATION.

So many times while I was working on the video did I consider including Martha and Dolly because I also love them so much and I felt like they were relevant? But there just isn't enough time. U forgot that Aaron Burr proposed to Angelica!
I didn't see that in any of the biographies I read through for this project? But it sounds like an interesting fact, where did you hear it I'd like to learn more?
Lin said he was shocked when he found out. Reading a bit more, Burr was rejected, just like in The Schuyler Sisters. It was in BroadwayCon by the way.
Glory Hallelujah! He did leave out the fact that Angelica was married 3 years before she even met Alex.
Yes but he had good creative reasoning for doing that, it would have been kind of difficult to explain why Alexander and Angelica's relationship was so meaningful in such a short space without creating a love triangle, plus you can't blame him wanting a little more drama.
ALSO IM LEARNING SO MUCH ABOUT HAMILTON'S CHILDREN WOAH THANK YOU

2) William Hamilton took part in the California Gold rush.
3) Angelica Hamilton liked to do duets with her dad on the piano.

The national bank *or something else*
Thats just having a heart
Nothing to do with feminist. (?
There were a lot of Johns and James back then but the someone decided “Oh I had a baby! We’ll call him Hercules!”

There’s a book called “Hamilton and Peggy!” About Peggy’s life. I’m not even kidding.
I read it. It's a really good book!
I’m watching this when I should be working on a project about Eliza Schuyler
*i know, I will use this video for it probably*

Soooooo.......in Helpless he likes that Eliza is helpless. In Say No to This, Maria said she was helpless......... Moral of the story:Hamilton likes helpless women.
I think he likes women to be HELPLESSLY in love with him....
That Lazy Snail well he’d love most of the female fan base of Hamilton!😂

Remember when Maria said “this one’s mine sir” in Say No To This? And remember when Eliza said “grab my sister, and whisper, yo, this one’s mine.” in Helpless?

Hamilton was a bad husband I mean..
Angelica - her own sister?!?
Maria - some girl!?
John Laurens - HIS BEST FRIENd THAT HE LITERALLY INVITED TO A THRESoME

@@midnight-hq4zg That's an opinion.
Peggy is lucky. Not only does she get more attention than Eliza, the title character's wife, but the other 12 siblings didn't even make it into the musical.
7:33 All of Eliza's children were successful..
Well, Phillip Hamilton died at 19, and Angelica Hamilton went insane after he died.
I included them in that statement because death doesn't make a person less successful and neither does poor mental health. Van Gogh became more successful after his death and Ned Vizzini wrote great books even while struggling with depression.

There's actually a fair amount that my father may not have loved my mother, a tragic but true fact.
Philip, stop saying such sad things.
USCAN14 thats like saying james reynolds liked maria reynolds because they had a kid together ( and we know how she was treated )
He was probably still thinking about Laurens
Oh my god--
Yes, he may have had relations with Laurens, but it was very obvious he was in love with Eliza. Lams shippers tend to ignore his letters to Eliza that constantly express his love to the woman and serenade the little bits and pieces of his letters to Laurens that mention the slightest bits of affection. Hamilton loved Eliza, and I have no idea what proof you're speaking of that he didn't.
I ship Lams but I know that Hamilton was very much in love with Eliza especially since they got married only three weeks after meeting

SkyAnimates I never said it was historically accurate. I associate her character (from the musical, not history) with purple.
SkyAnimates but thanks for the interesting facts! ☺

Can we just appreciate Eliza being so strong? She seriously was so strong loosing so many people and paying off debt and raising many kids who kept on his legacy. She really is an amazing person who has been through so much grief and is such a light in dark times and experiences.

Can you do a video like this for the Hamilton children
And Fanny Antill who is the orphan they adopted
Maybe??? If I have time I will try. These videos are really hard to make they take quite a while to get the research and stuff
**cries for Angelica**
The orphan girl was Frances Fanny Antill, she lived with them for ten years, till she was twelve, I think she never quite got to know her parents, I think she should be considered a family member, even though she went to live with her aunt...
I searched up Maria Reynolds letters and i laughed so hard at the spelling, i feel bad now xdd

the part about eliza isn’t actually true. it took them 2 years to get back in touch after the winter ball. after that she was supposed to get married to henry livingston. she escaped the wedding after hamilton traveled for three days straight and got shot in the process by British soldiers to talk to elizas parents for consent to marry their daughter. after hearing his story they agreed and called off the wedding with henry and they got married that winter.
I dont think that's true
Ok I just scrolled to a random comment so I could say...
AND PEGGY
I read they married the same year they met. Anyhoo, none of us were there and it kinda doesn’t matter.
Ever seen a portrait of Eliza?
**shows you a pic of a cinnamon roll**
For anyone wondering why Maria Reynolds' portrait isn't on the thumbnail, it's simple. Maria never had nearly enough money for her own portrait. Which is also why people on tiktok just use pictures of Jasmin from the musical while talking about Maria.
HEY POPE
Take Eliza as a saint for my (and Ham fans) sanity
Yes, we should write letters to the Pope...
I'll deliver the letter for you
I’m a year late to this video but it’s so interesting!!

That Lazy Snail ikr it’s crazy
I accidentally turned on the captions and it said "Angelica, Eliza and Peggy Skyler. Mariah Reynolds. Feodosia /"
UA-cam captions are awful, and I wish I could caption my own videos but I do not have the time unfortunately.
i really like this alot. it broke my heart learning about eliza through the musical and i hear alot of people get really curious of Eliza role as a home making... its honestly incredible how women at that time as home makers while supporting their husband's active roles. and they knew their place in a way, despite knowing that women had so much more potential to be educated, and they taught their children to understand why its so important.
Thank you for touching the stories of all these women in Hamilton! :) Definitely appreciate it!
Thank you or watching
That Lazy Snail YOU'RE VERY WELCOME!!!
I actually can't stop watching
This is REALLY interesting
Also, Peggy was badass as fuck!
Ahh thank you, I tried to make it really informative but also not too boring with tons of dates and stuff and I did a lot of research to make it as accurate as possible. I was disappointed that there was no really informative stuff about the women during the founding of America so I made it myself. We need more Girl Power
right? The world needs more Peggys
