Taft Dragon Boot - The Red Wing Killer?

Taft impressed me with my first pair of their boots. They were well designed, made of beautiful leather, and were a full step above what I had been wearing until then. So when I saw that they had made a sleek, rugged, handsome boot like the Dragon I couldn't get them fast enough. Made of waxed suede, they come out of the box with a gorgeous texture and color depth I've only seen on extremely well worn boots. The sole is a true Danite, and one of the best options for a casual boot since it keeps a slim silhouette but offers plenty of traction in less than ideal conditions. They nailed the design of this boot, it's one of the best in my collection with it's combination of sleek and rugged. This is the boot I've been looking for.
Of course, there are a few downsides. I wish they had made it a bit more supportive, with my high arches I could use some more rigidity, but maybe a pair of Superfeet insoles will fix this problem. The other is the price, at $350 they sidestep the major benefit of the direct to consumer model and instead position themselves with stiff competition from Red Wing, Wolverine, and Allen Edmonds.
So is this a boot worth buying? I think they absolutely are, simply based on the fact that I've worn them so much since I've gotten them. They really look incredible and I love the waxed suede, enough so that it's easy to forgive their shortcomings. If you meet me walking down the street, chances are I'll be wearing these boots.
