Great presentation!! I was disappointed in the very small portamento range but the trick of adding in the +10 voltage made the portamento far more usable. I now have enough range with enough controllability to make the portamento controls usable. Thank you very much!!
I'm a noob in modular, this was really helpful for me to decide what next to buy from the Behringer 100 series. I really liked the square-wave envelope follower in the last couple of minutes!
If you feed a vco output into the 'sig in' on the mixer and out (labelled 1 or 2) into the behringer mults module. It raises the power enough to stop pitch drop when using several outputs. A tip I found on the Tim Shoebridge page 👍
Apart from the portamento section, and it being dual, it’s similar to my AJH synth CV mix - offset - vca module 🤙🏼 Dreadbox Utopia has a similar section, I guess they were all inspired by the system 100 💯
You don't really need one, as you know - but they are so handy when you need a little bit of help to visualise what the hell we're doing ;) ... There are some cheap Eurorack modules that have small oscilloscope screens - then there's the more pricey MORDAX DATA (which actually costs more than what I spent on my Siglient scope!)
Thanks SO much for this video! It's exactly the info I was looking for, pertaining to the 297 module. Do you suppose there may be a design 'flaw' with the portamento pot? Maybe the taper should be logarithmic rather than linear or vise versa?
It could be a design flaw. The only way to know is to check with someone who owns an original Roland System 100m synth and see if it behaves the same or differently. The other way around the issue is to pipe the voltage into it like I showed later in the video. Thanks for your support :)
Thanks a lot buddy 🙏,to me the sliders response was absolutly mad!!!!,for making slide or portamento it was a deception...and,i didnt tried to control it wis+10 generators to see if the response was Better !?!?and it is !!!!haha pretty nice, thanks again mate 🙏👊❤️
Thank you for your series about system 100, I just received my first basic modules last Friday, no portamento yet. For me the CV for portamento seems to be very interesting. Have you tried to modify a gate voltage by controling portamento with noise (maybe via S&H)? I would expect, that this results in a „humanization“ of the gate since the slope changes continuously… what could be nice for Hihat sound or similar rhythmic patterns.
In reading about this module online, there is talk about a v2 coming out in the 2nd half half 2022 the had "fixed" the small porta range. Do yo happen to know about that?
Yeah, they're great! They are the Pittsburgh Modular Nazca Audio Noodles. pittsburghmodular.com/news/2017/1/11/introducing-the-nazca-audio-noodles-eurorack-patch-cables
I am new to all this. I am looking for a module which will simply take a clock signal which is on 1 and 3 and output a signal which is on 2 and 4 - e.g. for a snare drum. I am assuming this can be done with an inverter. Would this module do the job? Thanks! :)
Hey, thanks for the detailed video! Im already a synth geek but im out of mixers and this fella seems like a nice buy.. i really like that the mixer has static voltage outputs, its very useful, especially if you want to fine tune the slew. The slew.. well is a slew but its badly calibrated. But i like this kind of stuff, thats what makes analog analog right?

Really cool to see the oscilloscope display what's happening, well done.
Thanks Kira. I'm also liking the immediate visual feedback when using it.

Always enjoy others creating
Thanks Bro!
Great overview of this module, thanks for making
Glad you liked it!
Nice red SH101
Behringer MS-101 :)
oh sorry looks like the original
i had a Grey one @@ranzee
Look at you with your uploads 🤗
Thank you for the very helpful video.

System 100 was such an amazing synth.
21:49 .. you just summed up 98% of eurorack videos lol
All joking aside..great vid ..thanks.. it is hard to get good info about these modules.
Glad you enjoyed!
Definitely food for thought with this module... do I have buy a multimeter and an oscilloscope now?

Excellent video, thanks for your in depth explanation! One noob question: can I use the CV mixer (1 and 2) as regular audio mixers? Thanks!
I haven't tried audio.
Actually I have now, and yes it can be used to mix audio.
@@ranzee Awesome, thanks!

Thanks, now I can use my portamento.
Glad I could help!

No problem 👍
Great Video!!
can you use this module to mix audio signals as well?
Yes
tip: for anyone living in the US, get your Behringer modules from Thomann USA. They are SO MUCH cheaper than anywhere else.
Lies, damn dirty lies. They are in fact MORE EXPENSIVE at Thomannn. Avoid at all costs.
@kgreggbruce1552 at the time I posted it was accurate. Maybe sweetwater finally lowered prices.

Great idea :)
Reminds me of the arp 2600 voltage processor
Cool vid cheers

I haven't seen it.
I ordered mine yesterday, I'll let you know about the range.
Are those silicone patch cables? They sure drape nice. If so, which brand are those? (the flourescent green one and the red one)
Yeah, they're great! They are the Pittsburgh Modular Nazca Audio Noodles. pittsburghmodular.com/news/2017/1/11/introducing-the-nazca-audio-noodles-eurorack-patch-cables
I would like to hear the difference, too.

You may want to look at the Gate module: ua-cam.com/video/QLCdW2VETH0/v-deo.html
Can the mixer be used for Audio too?
Indeed it can!
Thanks You very interesting
Glad you think so!

Thanks for repping us noobs :) cheers
Cheers Henric!
The portamento is useless it seems. Needs a revision to the module.
