Got news for you. You don't need to swab between shots with standard black powder either. Only when you begin to feel resistance when sending the ball home.

I bought a CVA Wolf back in March before the lockdown and I absolutely love it but I wish you guys would bring back some older style muzzleloaders such as the CVA Hawken. I love my inline rifle but it would be nice to add a classic style rifle to my CVA armory.

I've taken three deer with mine so far over the years.
It took a long time to find a good load.
Hornaday sst 250 grain with 90 grains of powder seem to work the best to keep me around 1-2" at 100 yards.

Hey man not every loose powder needs that black Horn breech plug. I shoot real black powder in my Wolf all the time and it’s the most reliable thing I’ve found. It’s a lot more forgiving than Pyrodex too, where Pyrodex rusts your gun the same day you shoot it real BP is a much slower process allowing you to finish your weekend before breaking it down and washing it, with soap and water. I don’t oil mine but I do grease it with lard.

I've already put over a thousand rounds through my Muzzleloader my wolf I enjoy that that rifle it's fun shooting and yes you need to read that owner's manual not to overload it and not to use the wrong powder you'll turn yourself into a dead person with the pipe bomb in your hand when you pull the trigger it blows up just like video says so read the owner's manual I did and I still enjoy my CVA wolf

Keep your powder under 100 grains by volume and it wont bother you. For cleaning purposes I use Blackhorn 209. You can shoot 10 times and not have to clean it between shots. I use 100 gr BLACKHORN 209 by volume with a powder measurer. It is equivalent to 115gr of blackpowder. You can shoot 90 gr and be fine. If you want to use triple 7 use loose powder because it's more consistent and pellets go bad after a couple of years. There's 100s of bullets but the Hornady XTP sabot in 245 gr work great and are not expensive. Good luck

For me personally I found 2 main advantages. Muzzleloaders (in the US atleast) are listed as 'antique firearms' and can be bought off store shelves so they have ease of access
Also, they come in larger calibers such as .50 and pack a serious punch
Plus they are just outright cool

If you had to, you could remove the breech plug and then swab the barrel. The breech plug should screw out with just your fingers as long as it was greased effectively when installed. Maybe take a pick and clean out the touch hole on the breech plug after that if it looks dirty or partially covered in crud.

That really depends on the gun. A flintlock for instance doesn't require a lot of maint. but it is all stuff you can find for free if you have to. You just have to prevent rust by cleaning the barrel and waxing the barrel, very rarely re-harden the frizzen, and keep the port hole clear.

I have developed a new cartridge for muzzleloading rifles which is loaded from the muzzle but ejects itself from the barrel after use and is non-corrosive. This product sets a new standard in safety and reliability for muzzleloader ammunition in the same way shotgun shells are standardized for use in shotguns. Shotshells have a load of shot and powder which produce a safe pressure in shotguns manufactured by many different companies. The pressure produced by this cartridge can be designed to work safely in the muzzleloaders produced by the various manufacturers. It would also greatly help new muzzleloader shooters with safety, and it would also give them a product which will not destroy the barrel of their muzzleloader due to corrosive residue.
Those who say smokeless powder cannot be used in a muzzleloader may not know “Blackhorn 209” is 83% smokeless powder, based on the MSD sheet for the product. Therefore, the claim that smokeless powder cannot be used safely in a muzzleloader falls apart very quickly.
    (blackhorn209.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/2022-Blackhorn-209-SDS.pdf)
I am now looking for a company willing to mass produce this new cartridge for the market. I would greatly appreciate it if you would pass this information along to those you know who may be interested in this new product.
A link is found below which demonstrates this new product.
