      It'sHolly Do you watch the youtuber Simon Clark? (Currently doing a PhD in Theoretical Physics at Exeter) I don't know if you've seen, but he's said many times that Maths was his weakest subject all the way through school!
      If you don't like Maths, then I'd definitely say don't do Physics, but if you enjoy it but just don't think you're very good at it, that's definitely not necessarily a reason not to take it. I still think that (even at an undergrad level!), obviously some people are incredible at Maths and pick concepts up very quickly by working through only a few questions, while some (most of us) have to spend days before it clicks, but in the end, however "good" you naturally are, it's how much you practise that makes you "good" at Maths, and by extension also Physics 😊

    I'm the same I picked physics because it went well with maths and further maths but it's ended up being my favourite and I actually find it a lot easier than maths because it gives a reason behind everything that makes it easier to remember. I want to do physics or a physics-related subject at university and I'm so glad I picked it. In all the subjects I picked there are not many girls and in Physics I am the only girl as well. Love your videos btw :)

      Ellie Barran Beck That's so cool to find someone so similar! Great A level choices 😉 It's such a shame there are so few girls in Physics 😔 One of the reasons I started my channel was I wanted to show that girls can do Physics, and hopefully encourage more people to take it. I guess the only consolation for us is that hopefully people in the year's below us at school have seen us and seen it's all okay. Anyway I hope whatever degree you end up on is really fun, and good luck! 😃 (and thank you by the way! 💖)

      @tolland4433 2 роки тому

      @@R0L0s Yeah I finished it like a year ago. It was definitely kinda difficult for me at some points but I always found it a very interesting subject once you do understand things, and obviously some parts I found a lot easier. In the end I managed to get a B which I was very pleased with, and because that grade was better than I expected I don’t really regret taking it now at all. If you aren’t sure if you want to take it I’d mainly go by how you found/are finding gcse physics as I think the range of styles of exam questions is similar. For me personally all the force diagrams and shit was the hardest, as there’s a fair amount of that. Unless you were really good at gcse physics I’d say it’s not an easy subject, but I still found it worthwhile. It’s also an a level that looks very good I think.

      Emma Fallon I think it was a mixture between people who found it comparatively easier than the GCSE because there was less writing / explaining in words (like me 😉), and people who found it harder because they just weren't expecting the amount of Maths. Honestly I don't think it deserves the rep it has for being "impossibly hard" - I know I personally found AS chemistry a lot harder, for example! - but I think that reputation comes from people taking it and expecting it to be "wordy" like the GCSE, and then not enjoying it and not putting much effort into it because of the amount of Maths. Could you maybe have a chat with your current Physics teacher and see how they think you'd find the A level / it as part of the IB?

    Physics used to be my least favourite science but honestly now it's one of my favourites.Do you have to do maths along side it? I don't know if it's going to be tricky if I don't take maths along side it? 💗

    • @alicedoesphysics
      @alicedoesphysics 7 років тому +3

      Heyitsthetwins (First off, great choice in favourite science! 😉) You don't have to take Maths alongside Physics, but I think you'd be making life harder for yourself if you didn't. There's overlap between the Mechanics in Maths, and the Mechanics in Physics, so if you weren't taking Maths you'd have to do more work than those who were.
      There's also stuff like you don't need to be able to know how to differentiate / integrate for the Physics A level, but if you understand the concept of integration / differentiation / differential equations, it can make learning / understanding formulae a lot easier (but that only really comes up in the A2 year).
      If you're thinking about doing Physics at uni, you'll need the Maths A level, but if you're just kind of taking it "for fun", I think you'd be alright, it just might take a lot more work 😔 x
