After watching the trailer a couple times, the moment where Arthur is getting tortured by the guards at Arkham stood out to me. My theory is that when the guards put the rag on his face, I couldn’t help but think if that might be some kind of chemical substance, and the makeup ends up permanently staining Arthur’s face.
I'm not the type to overstate my opinions or exaggerate my enthusiasm about anything in life, particularly art which is totally subjective. Having said that, this is one of the best trailers I've seen in years...maybe ever. This thing had my jaw on the floor. When a trailer alone is it's own ride, & can make me get up out of my seat & actually FEEL powerful emotions, it's done it's job. I NEED THIS FILM YESTERDAY!! It's gonna be a great Halloween season!
“Let’s give the people what they want.” is the line that sold me on this. Todd Philips seems to be trying to gun down the “fraud” or “purely impressionist” comments with this one.
Reminds me of Batman Returns. Lots of nerds hated that movie but to my mind it's the closest thing that DC has ever had to an arthouse movie. Until Joker.
I might have to put Joaquin in my top five for "best actor of all time." Who would have every thought of this man not only as joker but in the top two without even having a batman in his universe 😮💨😮😮❤❤❤❤
I’m beyond excited !! Even from the trailer breakdown showing scenes, Phoenix looks even more dialed in to this character ( if that’s even possible ) I mean how does he not win another Oscar for this role. We will see, I’m excited for all the musical elements, acting, visuals … it’s overwhelming lol
This is a great breakdown - your descriptions of the footage were especially vivid and insightful. You raise some great points about what is real and what isn’t. In the first movie, that aspect kind of snuck up on the viewer, but since the cat is out of the bag now, I wonder if they’re going to run directly at it. It raises so many questions: will we always be able to tell? Will there be fantasies within fantasies? Is there the possibility that nothing, including Harley, is real? Will we get definitive answers or will we still be wondering at the end? There’s one scene I’m thinking of in the first Joker 2 trailer, the one where the guards are marching Arthur out to the yard in the rain, and the scene switches to a top-down shot, and we see that the umbrellas have changed from being regular black umbrellas to colorful umbrellas. Nothing else about that scene has changed. He’s still under guard, he’s still being marched along, he’s still in Arkham. It’s just a tiny bit of fantasy injected into a gloomy scene. Will every bit of fantasy be so apparent? Or will we watch things we think are real but in fact are fantasy? For example, I really question their ability to run around freely in Arkham, even if they have set a fire and there’s chaos everywhere. I would think the guards would have more of a handle on these things, and there would be more locked doors and other barriers to keep them from leaving the immediate area. Anyway, this was a great trailer. It doesn’t spoil anything, just gives you more of a feel of what you will get in the movie. Looking forward to it.
I have a couple of theories that expand on what you've said but from a different perspective. 1. The scene where Lee sets fire to the music/theater room at Arkham Hospital, I believe to be actually real narration and not a delusion. She said "let's get out of here," proceeds to the back of the room and lights the fire. This causes the emergency evacuation of the patients and staff. I believe this scene is where they share their first real kiss and the fire in the background is reapresentative not only of the chaos these two are capable of creating, but also of the passion flaring up as they share their first real kiss and actually acknowledge the love they now share amongst the chaos. They then proceed to run out, Arthur holding Lee's hand, and exit the building running out into the driveway, sharing their little dance scene in front of the mass of fans and reporters at the fence. Now, you can see, they are not actually trying to escape, but only making a media appearance as they jump on the fence. They are not actually trying to climb out, but now they have just let the whole world see them running together, dancing together and smiling as they cling to the fence. I believe this scene is where we get the headline "joker in love." They never intended to escape, they only wanted to cause chaos and madness and share this with the world when they jump the fence. This scene is a perfect example of the title, "folie á deux." 2. The scene where Lee sees the interview and smashes the window. She's sees Arthur say "I'll tell you what's changed, I'm not alone any more." That is likely her first descent into madness, smashing the window as he says "I'm not alone anymore." He could actually be referring to the mass of people that believe him to be a symbol of change and a voice for all the people who don't seem to matter in this dystopian slum of a city. After she smashes the window, she likey goes and commits a crime that lands her as a mental patient in the hospital, with her whole purpose being to meet her soul mate, Arthur. 3. The scene where she is in the elevator of Arthur's apartment is not likely a jealous rage towards Gigi. I think Gigi's appearance will be as a character witness for the trial just like Gary. I believe her purpose of going into his apartment is possibly to get his suit and makeup for his last day of the trial so that they can make their grand escape by Lee bringing an explosive to the courtroom. This doesn't quite match up with the scene of him running down the street in his regular court room suit, but one possibility is that the person we see dressed in a full purple suit "Joker" costume is meant to be a decoy for Arthur so that he can continue to escape. It's possible that Led brings his Joker outfit to the prison for him to show up in at the courtroom and give his grand speech (that scene did not look like a delusion) and after he tells the world on television that they will no longer control him, possibly after he has gained control of the courtroom by revealing a planted bomb, but then after the explosion, this decoy has already dressed up while Arthur hurries to change clothes and wipe the make up off amongst all the panic from the explosion and make his escape, while the decoy takes the fall allowing Arthur to run free in the streets. We don't know the exact timeline or time frame of the entire movie, but it is likely spread over weeks or months. 4. This is a likely timeline of the entire movie. - Lee sees the interview and falls in love, hearing "I'm not alone anymore. - She is either committed to the hospital for a minor crime or mental episode so that she can meet him in person and share her mad love with him, or she commits herself, meaning she is also free to leave when she wants as long as she does not pose a danger to herself or others. - She starts the fire and they make their media appearance to show they are together. No one was looking while she started the fire, which means she is probably not suspected of starting the fire. - Lee and Arthur make their appearance at the fence and announce their love to the world, but are allowing themselves to be caught again. - With Lee either being a self committed patient or one that is not held for long, she is released from the hospital after formulating the plan with Arthur to make a new message in the courtroom and escape. - Prior to the last day of the trial, Lee goes to the apartment for the suit and make up. - Lee gives the costume material to Arthur and he dresses up for his last day in court. - Lee shows up to court with a bomb and a full plan to take control of the courtroom so that Arthur can make his message on camera, followed by blowing up the courtroom, also creating two face in the process. - Arthur makes his escape and the decoy takes the fall, reuniting with his love and the credits roll. The only hole I see in this theory is the whole part about him changing outfits between his message as Joker in the courtroom followed by the explosion and the actual escape scene of him running down the street with the original outfit on and the decoy running behind him. It seems like it would be a bit too much to change outfits and wipe the make up off while the decoy takes the clothes and applies the makeup. This would be a very rushed moment for all that to happen within minutes of the courtroom explosion. It also appears that the courtroom explosion is different from the explosion we see when Arthur is in his regular atire. It could mean that his "Joker message" in the courtroom was only part of his delusion and the actual explosion happened outside the courtroom with him in his regular outfit. Of course these are just fractioned theories but I think my timeline idea matches up pretty well with all the scenes we have. -
I wonder if there is any significance in Arthur watching the Pepe Le Pew cartoon on tv? As Pepe was in love with a cat who got covered in white paint so he assumed she was a skunk like himself. I'm guessing that the wedding chapel scene that was in the first trailer follows the courtroom scene with Garry. As a hallucination.
I hope they show another interaction between Arthur and Bruce Wayne in this movie, it’d be great to see how he’s progressed since he’s a little older now.
That first opening shot going into Gotham is so crazy, that’s the most authentic “going from Jersey to New York” east coast vibe I’ve ever felt from someone who’s spent a lot of time in New Jersey and also NY I see what they did there lol man that hit home lol
This is going to be a completely different take on what people consider Musicals. I think it’ll work in this case, blurring reality & the way Arthur sees “reality”. I think if everyone keeps an open mind, more people might enjoy this movie more than they expected. I’m looking forward to seeing Gaga as Harley. I love Margot Robbie yet I think Gaga is gonna give me the Harley I’ve been waiting for❤❤❤ October can’t come fast enough! But first things first….Deadpool & Wolverine on Thursday night!!! My thought: I think she’s been a Doctor the whole time. If you really look into the reflection in the mirror during the scene when he’s behind glass & she puts the lipstick on the glass….it looks like she’s wearing a white coat (like a doctor or a psychiatrist)….I could be reaching here….but hey it’s just a theory 😉
I believe that it’s very clear which scenes are dream sequences. Whenever we see brutality on Arthur I.e from Gleason this is the real world. Harley Quinn I believe inspires the escape and allows Arthur to further descend into madness. I have a feeling we will see a slightly older Bruce Wayne in this. To act as a backstory and a nod to the comics. Dent as Boba said will be attacked. Perhaps by Harley.
Doesn't matter the haters. Todd Philips knows Joker doesn't need too much publicity to be a sucess in theaters. He is the most popular villain of all time 🦇
I also wanted to say that when Arthur is behind that band at the end the sign in the back is the comedy club Arthur performs at in the first movie “POGO’S”
Wait, the song in 11:04 that Bobatalks talked about, was written and sang by someone else? Wow! And it was also sang by Stevie Wonder, too! ❤❤❤ I love it!
Its a bit difficult to say what's going on with Arthur, because all this court room drama could just be in his head and Harley's, as well.. who knows. I believe he is in court but why would Harley be there aswell you know what I mean. I just can't wait to see this. Joaquin is my favourite actor 👍🏻 and Stefani looks hot in this film.
the one thing I've been thinking since this trailers came out is where is Bruce Wayne in all this? after all, you can't have Joker without Batman. obviously he's still a kid but how does he factor into all this is what I'm wondering.
I think the end is him laughing in the rain..that clip that was first shown in the teaser of Arthur chained and just laughing. I think he ends up back there because Harley maybe fucks him over?? I don't know.. It's what I thought when I saw the teaser and be behind the scenes where harley was singing on the steps and the cops bypass her and go after Arthur. I'm trying not to dissect it too much,I don't want to ruin it for me self😅
@@The_whimsickal_artist ye i think you're spot on. i'm not sure why the cops would bypass harley though and run to arrest arthur. has she done nothing wrong at all throughout the whole film? saying that though, the singing elements in the film do seem to be mostly in arthurs head. so i am unsure if the scene with her singing on the steps is imaginary or not. didn't seem like it, but who knows. i do think the scene with him being chained up is the ending though.
I hope his intelligence is expanded on in the sequel. Make him a more formidable Batman foe. I loved the first movie but the complaints I hear about him not being a competent Bat villain are definitely warranted.
My theory is... This time the relationship is real, but it's still one-sided. Life's always gonna crap on this dude. I think Harley uses him, leads him on, to sort of stage a coup and still his "spotlight"/fame/symbol status, so to speak.
Crazy theory - potential spoiler if this is true but making it up.. But feel like they need to address Bruce and the Wayne’s murders somehow in this … feel like young Bruce might be the one to bring the bomb into the courthouse to try to kill joker for what happened to his parents … like how he snuck the gun in in Batman Begins, and he’s the reason Harvey becomes Two Face because that’s the back and forth is does Batman create his own enemies And would explain how a bomb was snuck into that trial, no one will question a Wayne especially after what happened to him
On the one hand, I loved the first #jokermovie but on the other hand we really didn't need a sequel and my patience with the Joker is wearing thin however, I'm probably in the minority when I say I am excited and interested in this movie #joker2 #jokerfolieadeux
This a good break down thanks but in my opinion I think she first sees him on TV in that store and they purposely show the clip of where they both see each other to confuse us cause that’s where she’s staring at him as if she was in love with him and never seen him type of look & I believe she goes to jail because she breaks the glass and purposely gets into Jail for Arthur & they plan to escape
Harley is going to kill Zazie Beetz character. Harley is in the same elevator in her building, and she sports the same cunning smile just like Arthur's after he kills Randall.

I think that Arthur might kill Garry later in the film as we see Garry is in the cort room and he's probably sniching out on Arthur and about him killing Randal in the first movie and also i doubt this whole explosion was Joker & Harley idea i mean it's probably his fans all these protesting people idea maybe they planted a grenade during the trial or even a night before the trail they planted a bomb or smth idk and also about Harley i saw the many theories mostly talking about Harley being in Arthur's head just like Sophy was in the first movie but i doubt Todd Phillips is gonna do the same thing as with Sophie so i bet that she's manipulating him i mean from the radio voice (Harvey Dent ) we know that Joker Folie a Deux is set 2 years after events from Joker soo through this time Arthur might could go back to normal a little and just be an ordinary person again but Harley will want to manipulate Arthur into returning or rather transforming into the Joker again because she needs him to escape from Arkham and in the end she will expose him and Arthur will end up alone again (sorry that it took so long I wrote it but I had a lot of emotions after this trailer, I hope you will read it Boba have a nice evening and remember that's live )
I don't think he'll kill Garry. As he would have known that Garry would be obligated to tell the cops about him killing Randall. Also in the first trailer there was the hallucination where Arthur is marrying Harley, and Garry is his best man dressed in a white suit.
@@pobstrel Yea but that scene might be before the cort room scene and that's why Arthur imaging him cause he believe he is he's only friend but then Garry will be in the cort also it's obvious that Garry is at the trial to tell everthing especially about Randall death to the cops but maybe he's on Arthur's side but i doubt it
Most of the scenes they featured of her in the trailer are during their psychosis sequences and they clearly went for a perfected and theatrical vibe for a reason and her acting is reflecting that.
That's quite a childish way to think. Gaga is a true artist who takes her projects very seriously and does her research on the source material. She's not doing movies for quick cash and cameos but for the sake of making art. Seems like you're just an obsessed hater.
This will be another billion dollar movie looks so freaking amazing and im anxiously ready to experience this movie on the big screen!
After watching the trailer a couple times, the moment where Arthur is getting tortured by the guards at Arkham stood out to me.
It seems like it would be a bit too much to change outfits and wipe the make up off while the decoy takes the clothes and applies the makeup. judging by Gaga's past roles she really likes to play the villain so could be
Crazy theory - potential spoiler if this is true but making it up..
But feel like they need to address Bruce and the Wayne’s murders somehow in this … feel like young Bruce might be the one to bring the bomb into the courthouse to try to kill joker for what happened to his parents … like how he snuck the gun in in Batman Begins, and he’s the reason Harvey becomes Two Face because that’s the back and forth is does Batman create his own enemies
And would explain how a bomb was snuck into that trial, no one will question a Wayne especially after what happened to him
❤😊😮😂. Can’t wait to see this maybe money wasted. And joker 🃏 and Harley going crazy bay bay!!!!!. And great video ❤😊.
Nah mate never wasted money, we only live once so might as well enjoy right..and it'll be a great film👍🏻
@@The_whimsickal_artist ok 👍🏼. Money wise my bad.
perfect to watch before sleep ❤
On the one hand, I loved the first #jokermovie but on the other hand we really didn't need a sequel and my patience with the Joker is wearing thin however, I'm probably in the minority when I say I am excited and interested in this movie #joker2 #jokerfolieadeux
Great video
A Joker without a Batman is a Joke without the punchline 😢. But ill watch it, lets see what happens.
Lol did you see the first movie????
Didn't need Batman.
@@dcmastermindfirst9418 To be honest I wasn't a big fan 🤣 is not bad but feels weird.
@@cynicalthoughts It's Elseworlds
This a good break down thanks but in my opinion I think she first sees him on TV in that store and they purposely show the clip of where they both see each other to confuse us cause that’s where she’s staring at him as if she was in love with him and never seen him type of look & I believe she goes to jail because she breaks the glass and purposely gets into Jail for Arthur & they plan to escape
Exactly what i thought as well.
She will try to manipulate him to get fully in control and get a taste of fame as the “joker’s girl”.
I like to think that alot of the romance between Lee and Arthur will take place in Lee's head.
Yeah
I'm still on the fence if she's even real and not just in his head.
Honestly I’ve been recently considering that possibility. I haven’t really found any actual real evidence proving that theory though.
Harley is going to kill Zazie Beetz character. Harley is in the same elevator in her building, and she sports the same cunning smile just like Arthur's after he kills Randall.
I hope they don't shoehorn Bruce Wayne into this movie. Maybe a newspaper clipping in regard to the Wayne's but that's it.

I thought you would like the trailer :D
They Batman in part three imagine the joker thinking Batman is the bad guy and a evil demonic creature almost like the moth man.
I need more. Still unclear to me

If this is a musical I could not be less interested

@@pobstrel Yea but that scene might be before the cort room scene and that's why Arthur imaging him cause he believe he is he's only friend but then Garry will be in the cort also it's obvious that Garry is at the trial to tell everthing especially about Randall death to the cops but maybe he's on Arthur's side but i doubt it
First one is possibly the most overrated movie of all time.
Not going to waste my money on this one.
lady gaga is just a horrible choice. she overracts her scenes and this is the sequel no one wanted. this is a hard pass
Most of the scenes they featured of her in the trailer are during their psychosis sequences and they clearly went for a perfected and theatrical vibe for a reason and her acting is reflecting that.
tell me this is a warner bros. studio cash grab without telling me it's a studio pushed vehicle for their actress and music library
Universal don't own all the songs in this movie.
That's quite a childish way to think. Gaga is a true artist who takes her projects very seriously and does her research on the source material. She's not doing movies for quick cash and cameos but for the sake of making art. Seems like you're just an obsessed hater.
Lol as appose to Deadpool 3 and recasting Downey Jr as Doom??
So not a cash grab 😂😂😂😂😂
