  • Saying Goodbye to TireMinder / TST TPMS Nightmares! - The BETTER Alternative !! We have had horrible luck with Tireminder and their valve stem TPMS sensors - We were told when we bought the system that it was safe for our rubber valve stems by the rep...thats a lie , we have been on the side of the road 3 times due to blown / loose valve stems from these sensors. If you are using these types of sensors no matter the manufacturer, it is critical that you use metal valve stems.

    I run steel stems with my tpms no problems. It's just common sense not rocket science my man.

    I've had the TireMinder A1AS system for 3+ years now. Never had a valve-stem problems or leaks (I do have metal valve stems on my truck and trailer), but I have had a bunch of the sensors fail. The internal battery cage/holder has broken on 4 of them now. They have been great about replacing everything under warranty, but that doesn't help much when you're on a trip. Overall, they work great.....until they don't. I now carry one or two spare sensors with me. 😩 The batteries do need to be changed every year or two. Not a big deal for me.

    It happened to me. Within an hour and a half from the house I had 3 tires go flat because of the valve stems leaking. Not all at the same time. The stems were rubber at the rim with a chrome shaft. They were leaking at were the rubber and metal met/glued together. The travel trailer is 2 years old.

      Yup. It is a real thing and a real problem for sure. So far so good with the internals so we will see :)

    This is a really neat system, but way over priced, just like all the systems at an RV dealer that you can purchase online for cheaper. I will just continue my old school ways of proper inflation, inspection and random tire checks just the way I did them when I was a truck driver, I hardly had a blow out because of that method.

    Yep…went through 3 valve stems on one trip out west. I have been driving for 40 years and I had never had a valve stem failure. I put these in my fifth wheel the previous summer and went through three valve stems. The end-of-the-stem monitor is like a weight on the end of a fishing rod spinning around at 65 mph…I took those off to complete the trip. I have since changed to Tuson internal valve stem mounted-the balls are intriguing however.

    Years ago, I had a flat tire & never knew it until I saw smoke in the rear view mirror...never would have thought you could feel a flat!
    Now we have a newer SUV/1st vehicle with OEM TPMS system. Again, didn't notice a dif in ride; but could see that 1 tire was 11lb below pressure. Pumped it up ever few days & was able to get it into the shop. We had picked up a nail somewhere along the way.
    We also have an older camper van & will be putting an after market TPMS system w/ metal stems...I'd rather know of a small leak vs a blowout damaging the RV.

      Metal stems are the way to. I think pretty much on everything!

    In 40 years of driving I have never needed tpms. Not on a car or a trailer. Just my 2¢.

    I had a flat due to the TST sensor wobbling on my rubber valve stems. I had to replace all my valve stems with steel valve stems.

      It’s just not something they really tell you about I don’t think. And they definitely should ! Caused us the same issues numerous times. Glad you got the steel stems put on. Thanks for watching!

      So I believe the ball sensor kit is 479.00. The standard automotive internal kit is about 100 bucks less than that.

      What if you have multiple trailers?

    • @HomeOnTheHitch
      @HomeOnTheHitch  4 місяці тому +1

      @LG_Miller you can buy more sensors to put in those tires and each monitor can store up to 3 different vehicles /trailers

      @@HomeOnTheHitch you still liking them?

    • @HomeOnTheHitch
      @HomeOnTheHitch  4 місяці тому +1

      @LG_Miller so far we haven’t had any problems with them. We’ve had these in for almost a year now and they are still going strong. Idk what the future holds but I do like the idea of the internal sensors waaaaay more than the valve stem sensors

  • @TBizzell68

    I was wondering about those screwed on the valve stem, I’ll probably go with the Tuson internal, my only problem is that I’m getting new tires Tuesday, and I doubt that I could get the system by then.

    • @HomeOnTheHitch
      @HomeOnTheHitch  7 місяців тому

      So if you have to get tires quick then ask the shop to put on all metal valve stems. They work ok with the screw on sensors. But I’d really try to get an internal kit if you can. Much better

    Piss on any and all TPMS systems. They're garbage. It's bull crap. Best thing you can do is take them off your vehicle and delete that program out of your computer
