I collect Barbie, Monster High, Ever After High, Rainbow High, LOL OMG, Na Na Na Surprise, Disney Princess Dolls and so many more! I love fashion dolls and I believe that dolls are the best toys for people to improve empathy and to explore their creativity! The Disney store classic dolls moulds get individually updated every few years. Last year the 2020 doll moulds that got updated were Elsa, Anna, Jasmine, Rapunzel and I think Mulan got a slight change too. This years dolls that got updated (in the cardboard box release) were Snow White (she’s been released with a much more porcelain skin tone and I think some slight changes to her mould), Pocahontas new face mould and I think a slight adjustment in skin tone, Aurora got a new face mould, Tiana got a darker skin tone, and Elsa and Anna got released with the new outfits (last years dolls were the original frozen 1 outfits.)
Aurora's face mold was changed last year, it follow's 2019's Designer Midnight Masquerade doll
Pocahontas, Snow White and Mulan have the same facemold they had. The only changes are on skin tones, Pocahontas and Jasmine have very dark skin now...
As a product design student who wants to be a doll designer i love the packaging it is smart really good job disney👏👏👏
I feel that toy companies could save on plastic by not giving dolls brushes that they don’t need, because I literally have two medium sized ziploc bags full of Monster High and Ever After High brushes that I don’t use.
Even as a kid I hated those little chrome bratz brushes I had thousands of lol
Ya I use a comb to them but I only comb their hair if it's really must but if its not I'm not brushing it this is something I learn while growing up playing dolls brush can ruin their hair
Love this packaging idea but if Mattel started doing this we’d never get to make sure we’re not getting a doll with a messed up face😂 which is a common thing with barbies nowadays

Monster High collectors with Skulltimate Secrets: ...
I have washed all Merida dolls hair with cold water and then scrunched it with a towel can help make the curls be more bouncy. I have a hair detangler spray for curly and wavy hair which helped a lot when brushing the hair. Not only her hair is nice and soft but also bouncy and curly. Hope this helps mommy!
I love the recycling aspect but seeing the exact doll you're getting is so important as a doll collector. They could have a messed up face & hair and could be missing accessories. Even with a display stand, they could easily picked the best looking one to display.
They should either use a smaller window of plastic or use better plastic.
I agree, plastic is still a must for doll collectors.
I really wished they change them up a bit everytime they rerelease them. Like something different with the dresses or something, instead of changing the accessory they come with.

i really love the disney store doll line because i'm a collector who cares a lot about quality but i'm also like, poor as heck and can't afford the bigger fancier stuff. plus, i've been building my collection slowly over a really long time, and it's really nice that though the line updates their sculpts/dresses fairly frequently, it's never so drastic a change that the new ones and old ones don't look right grouped together. awesome to see they're doing much more eco-friendly packaging!
EDIT: im further into the video lol and i have solid proof they can do merida's hair well!! my collection started with a merida my mom gifted me when her movie came out and the hair is soft and super big and curly, and she comes with pretty high quality dress and cape, too! i don't know exactly where she got it but still, i don't know why the disney store merida's since then have gone down in quality so much.
I remember Merida being better when she first came out. I asked Kaiden and he definitely doesn't remember our original having garbage hair like this. As a kid with curly red hair he really vibed with Merida's hair so if that doll's hair had been jacked he would have remembered.
I just wanna say that in the thumbnail, both Belle dolls look VERY concerned about something 🤣🤣🤣 I think it’s the eyebrows

I have the Merida doll from the old packaging and I love her hair there. It was designed a lot better because you can see the doll displayed. Unlike the new packaging where you cannot see the doll inside, so i guess Disney didn't bother fixing her hair.
Yep. I’m sure the new cardboard packing cuts down on some costs too. But I’m not a fan if not being able to see the doll.

I used to collect dolls around 5 years ago. I had to let go a lot of them because my family didn’t approve and I was embarrassed to show them off. I still dream of customizing at least one doll. No matter what, Disney dolls will always have a special in my heart no matter what age ✨💕✨

I’m all for less wasteful packaging, but as someone who likes to pick the best looking doll, it’s kinda disappointing that you can’t see what the doll you pick will look like.😕
yeah for collectors this is a litle rough, but for families who buy at the Disney Store, I think it's a good thing.

You dont need to cut the rubber ties. You could keep them and reuse them to style the hair.
They do eventually dry rot. Orthodontics bands work the best for doll hair.

I think you're right about Tiana's box being Charlotte's room. Been a while, so I won't swear to it, though!
I don't think her room was pink but I know Charlotte's was!
I watched frozen 2 once and it was in theatres. The only complaint I have about Frozen 2 is her dress. She had capes in every outfit. Coronation & Let it Go. Then in the second movie they have a cape split in two little fabric flowy sleeves thingys. And I wanted Elsa to stay the Queen of Arendale. Then, at the end of the movie they change personalities. Elsa the free happy and relaxed. And now Anna is the introvert, calm, prim, and proper.
Now I'm regretting not getting Elsa today! Got Jasmine though! Can't wait to reuse the box.
In my experience the disney store quality in dolls is way better than the parks.

Not at all. The parks dolls had better quality and more detailed dresses and more hair... before the new cardboard boxes appeared, now they are the same.

Did you pick up the Esmeralda,Megara,Wendy, and Alice dolls? They don’t seem like they’ll be coming back this year and they’re on sale for 10$ each!
I love the new packaging too. I only have three of them so far but disney store classic dolls were what started my doll collecting journey. I agree that the disney store makes the best disney princess (and prince) dolls. I have a Merida from 2019 her hair was geled then too. It looks a lot better after i washed it.
Are the newer characters like Esmeralda and Megara getting this packaging too??
@@SamLizziesmom Tinkerbell comes in the new packaging now. Maybe Esmerelda and Meg will if the other version sells out but I can’t say for sure

@@SamLizziesmom usually when they reveal the new dolls every year, it seems that those dolls are the only ones going to be available. I'm also worried about the Disney Princes, of whether they will be available, because they haven't shown them in the new boxes.
I really hope I'm wrong, because I love the Alice, Wendy, Esmeralda and Megara dolls.
Tiana's dress is really looking like a tinkerbell dress remake LOL. I didn't even notice until now.
My sister's room is disney princesses and she has the toddler dolls. I wanted to get her the hasbro 13" dolls but never thought about how they looked. I almost bought a 12 pack of all the princesses instead of the individual ones too.
I want the toddler dolls from the Disney Store soooooooo bad!!!!! We used to have the originals, but I finally donated them to a pre-school. They are soo much cuter now!!!
All of the dolls look gorgeous! This makes me want to collect dolls again. I really liked the second Frozen movie and I watched it several times. I think it was better than the first one.
I think those new packagings are a huge plus in every way. They're better for the environment, they look better, they leave the doll in better condition, they serve as a play set and they are reusable.
I love the boxes, i hope the new monster high dolls have boxes like this, because i would save and use all of them

Omg, I’d love to buy these! My twin sister and I were SO obsessed with dolls all of our lives. We hadn’t had the chance to play with them anymore as we’re growing up (we’re still minors btw). Recently, we both decided that we wanted to start collecting dolls again! We really love this new set of Disney princesses, and the fact that we can buy all of them with this same version makes it even more exciting. Thanks for making this video. I love the way you’re so joyful when you talk about dolls. Hopefully soon we’ll be able to buy them. I saw the Elsa and Anna Frozen 2 dolls of this version with their extra dresses in a local toy store!

Before *2015 the fabric used for the Disney Store dresses was silky, soft and flowy,* but in recent years they switched over to the cheaper plastic type that wrinkles if you sit the dolls down. They even use the same brittle playline fabrics on the $140 Limited Edition Designer dolls now. The Disney Parks dolls used to be different, and higher quality from the ones sold at the Disney Store, but they've officially canceled the fancier Disney Parks doll line, and will be selling the same $19.99 shopdisney dolls at the Parks now, only that they will be $25 at the parks because everything is pricier at Disney World. The new dolls are the same exact dolls from every other year only that they used to cost $14.99, but now they charge $19.99 because cardboard boxes are more expensive to produce then plastic window boxes that allowed you to check for errors eye paint mistakes and messy hair before buying them. The older dolls used to have pointed toes, and high heels for characters like Elsa who has pretty ice crystal heels in the movie, but they all have flat feet and flat shoes which most doll collectors dislike because they have duck feet now, and it looks like they are walking on mini canoe boats.

i remember going to meet tiana at the afterparty when i was little! there was a huuuuge line to see her but my mom really wanted a picture of me with her so we waited. she was the only princess i got to see but it was worth it
It was so magical. I cried so much seeing black families meeting Tiana for the first time. I remember us explaining to 4 year old Kaiden why this was so important and he seemed to get it. He was smiling watching with me. He's always "gotten" stuff like that.
I giggled whenever the doll fell out of the box.

Wowww, absolutely amazing, the box, the faces, the possibility, the outfits are really nice, even the brushes are really detailed. Out of all the play line disney dolls, I would choose these, they are really good and I can totally see myself using the packaging as a backdrop for the dolls.
I think they are the best princess play line too.

My favorite part when the new packaging was shown off was they included a boy getting a doll and being excited about it, seeing as I am a boy who loves dolls it just made me happier that it's not being fully marketed as an only girls toy

Wow ! I remember watching this channel ever since I was nine years old and stopped when high school started 😅😅. Ngl I really miss them so much because they literally made my childhood
I am so up for the cardboard packaging, as at least if you don't want to keep it you can recycle it. I feel as though I want a Merida doll because of the poor maid's hair. Poor lamb.
A lot of the dolls with the new packaging are unchanged from the last release, but a few of them like Pocahontas Jasmine and Snow White have updated skin tones, and a couple like Tinkerbell have slightly updated outfits. Also, the Elsa and Anna from the new boxes are using their Frozen 2 outfits, but the previous release had them in their Frozen 1 outfits.

I was so exited for the frozen dolls, but I wish they were their adventure outfits because I like those more and we haven’t gotten them in a basic version yet

I've always heard Disney Store was better than Disney Parks. I have the Snow White, Alice, and Wendy dolls. The Snow White is probably the prettiest of all of them. Wendy and Alice are adorable. Highly recommend them. They also make Esmeralda, Megara, and Tinker Bell. They made a Christmas doll last year. Ariel. I'm hoping that becomes an annual thing. I also am hoping they release Kida for the movie's 20th anniversary.
I wish I remembered....I'm really bad with the details from the dolls we bought when Kaiden was little.

ya know I'm a pretty recent subscriber to the channel so I haven't seen much of the content in general but I, love the videos/ love the passion of what I've seen so far, and every time you mention Kaiden I'm like " can we get a guest star appearance real quick lol."
My only gripe with the new Anna and Elsa packaging is that my Elsa's neckline of her dress has super messed up stitching and I couldn't see that ahead of time :(... Though, I swapped her dress with the very similar white dress that came on the Elsa and Nokk set, which I prefer as it's glittery like Anna's dress!
Though I do love the concept of the new boxes.
My daughter loves Merida it is so hard to find anything to do with her she does not like frozen and she has meltdowns every time it comes on my daughter also has autism so it’s very heartbreaking that I have to go on a hunt and spend all this kind of money just to find my daughters favorite Disney character so this is so cool that they have this new box thing I hope that they were going to bring more of the characters from brave out with it because I would be so awesome for my daughter

Plastic packaging Belle just looks more rumpled in general, which is really interesting! The cardboard packaging Belle looks pristine, not rumpled in the slightest. plastic Packaging Belle's dress is stupid wrinkled too, her hair is fussed, her head is still cajinkered..

There is going to need to be so much warm water rinsing and possible restyling.... her hair sounds like my natural curls sounded like in middle school when they used to encourage using gel and other product that makes crunchy hair.

This is just a bother for me but it bothers me that Tiana didn't come with her long gloves but Belle did. I noticed that's just a thing with Tiana dolls and it took me a long time to find one that did have gloves.
Disney store has the dolls with best quality? Then imagine living in a country where there is no Disney store at all?
By car it is almost 1900 km to the closest Disney store. By train, as I live at the northernmost end of the Norwegian train line (besides a small track from Sweden to Narvik), a trip to the closest Disney store, in Copenhagen, will take two whole days. 😂
Merida looks great, except for her hair. Not only does it not look like her hair, it just looks bad.

that is so interesting to know about the quality licensing! The dolls from the parks are much higher quality than the dolls you get from the regular Disney store or shop disney. I've collected all of the princesses over the past few years during my trips to Disneyland, so I have them all and I can see firsthand the difference. The only two princesses that they don't have dolls for at the parks are Pocahontas and Mulan for some reason. So unfortunately I don't have the higher quality version of those two. But yes, those are the highest quality ones that I've found at a playline level and price point.

@@MyWorldMelissa honestly, I think it's because Pocahontas and Mulan may not sell as well for merchandise. They also don't have fancy dresses that can be turned into costumes to sell in the park because it could be seen as cultural appropriation, so they don't put as much focus on those two characters as far as merchandise goes. (Just guessing)
