As a child, for 12 inch fashion dolls I wanted some knee articulation. I preferred the arms to be bent rather than straight if they didn't articulate. I wanted hair that I could brush and style over and over. I changed their clothes all the time. Molded on tops with only skirts would have made me play with the dolls less. After the age of about five kids still want those things now...in my experience.
Woohoo! I was the designer (and the inventor) of the Glitter Glider Magic Clip Disney Princess dolls that you mentioned! I loved creating that Glitter Glider Castle and the Room Assortments.
To me nothing will beat Disney Store dolls. Their Snow White is gorgeous. You showed Disney Store Cinderella and Aurora 😅 I don't really like Mattel's style of faces, they look too much like Barbies or G2 Monster High
Same here. As soon as Mattel started going to molded on clothes in all their doll lines I lost interest in dolls. I keep tabs hoping they will return to completely fabric clothes, but I think that ship has permanently sailed. 😢
In the 90's the Disney store princesses were awful, their arms were too short. The Mattel ones were much prettier. No molded on clothes, but Jasmine's earrings were molded on.
I think these are fine for budget dolls. They look much nicer than the last Hasbro dolls for sure. I do wish we could have fabric clothes because one my my favorite things and also one of my daughter's favorite things was the fashion element. Kids want to change their clothes and play with their fashion sense.
The Disney Ily fashion dolls are available on shopdisney and I think in Disney stores if you have one nearby. I'm really excited to see their range of mobility. All the fashion packs and accessory packs are so stinking cute and I love all the dolls themselves.
I have watched your video ever since I was a kid, Your video's give me so much nostalgia and you are one of the reasons why I was on UA-cam as a doll collector. Thank you for being you and making video's
The princess colour reveals are really cute decor for bedrooms and cakes/cupcakes. In terms of the car nonsense just prepare yourself for a lot of frustration.
The Disney Store had a limited edition of the Blue Fairy a few years ago! eBay has one and it's ouuuch. Also, I think Tonner might've done one. She happens every now and then but doesn't sell well mainstream so she doesn't last very long!
@@DoveJS I know of the one that comes with Pinocchio. If I ever win the lottery that would be the first doll I get. I just one that retails for around $40. I do like Tonner dolls one my mom left me is one of my favorite dolls.
I’m sorry about your car. I hope to hear more because that is worrisome. Also so fun to see the dolls but looking forward to the future collector dolls.
Aurora has to have bed hair. She is, after all, The Sleeping Beauty. I do not think these princesses look bad. If you step two meters away, and Aurora's hair is done a little bit, you will not see the molded-on tops, and they will look fine. They look the part, and they seem to be pretty robust. And that is really important with kids. If you need details and fine fabrics, you can always select the higher tier dolls.
Looking at how gelled the hair on the Aroura and Snow White dolls is, I wonder if it is less gelled or more gelled than Rainbow High box hair. I can only imagine how any kids who lack all the experience washing RH doll hair (RH taught me how to wash and condition doll hair because I never really had to do that as much before collecting that doll line) would handle the gelled hair on the Disney Princess dolls.
You are too funny! From Snow White’s eyes to Cinderella’s take on Elsa… SMH😂 Also, I could be wrong, but in my experience they molded on clothes dolls are the first to be tossed aside. I would honestly rather buy some dolls second hand and clean them up, then pay for new ones that’ll soon find their way to donation bins.
I think what we'll see with Mattel across their lines are these budget, entry level dolls and then the more expensive collector dolls. I'm pretty sure Mattel has realized that most of their dolls will go to young people and then adult collectors, so they're creating two price lines. But that's just my guess.
I agree with you but I'd also argue fewer people are buying dolls for kids because kids are technically getting out of toys faster because of the common nature of technology and so the kids are getting dolls much younger but also if they don't love dolls forever, growing out of them faster, while at the same time at least for sure in the USA it's super expensive to have kids, so fewer people are having them. A lot of the purely doll collector lines are dying out so I think what's happening is all of the play line companies are picking up the slack (MGA saw how well LOL re-bodied customs were doing, introduced OMG, then saw the slow death of the collectibles market and decided to fill it with a TON of OMG and BTW, then RH plus a reintroduction of MH and Bratz.) Also a lot of people are getting tired of the mystery doll concept (it's still out there but this is why we're seeing it die down and more options where you know what doll you're getting) so there are more collectors and few parents with less of a budget than in decades past, incentivizing these current trends between Mattel, MGA, and I guess the Disney Store/Jakks Pacific lol.
I like that the eyes are looking straight on instead of sideways, but man are they ever spaced far apart. And I don't like that the tops are molded on. I know it's the budget line, but I'm not a fan of molded on "clothes." They are pretty though.
The Cinderella doll that you showed for comparison with the new Cinderella doll is NOT a Mattel doll. It's a Disney Store doll. I know my Mattel Disney dolls almost too well.
I got to see a few of these dolls on a recent shopping trip. The article you read from stating Mattell wants to get back to movie accurate molds made me chuckle. They had that when the Disney Princess line first came out, as well as the tweaks done over the years. These head molds look more like the Hasbro molds and a bit too cartoony. I think Raya was the exception.
look im not even a big disney fan or anything but the way mattel is handling these new dolls is *Lemongrab from Adventure Time voice* uNACcEPTABLEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Melissa, I wish you all the very best with this car nonsense. Cannot give you any advice, as I live in Germany and never leased a car (all of our vehicles are bought). But this sounds pretty nasty. Your concern with people who do not how to deal with any authorities is very valid (my parents-in-law also have big difficulties in dealing with this kind of stuff. Luckily, my brother-in-law still lives with them and helps them out).
Still so strange to me how the new Mattel dolls look so much like the last wave of Hasbro dolls, even down to the packaging. I've heard so many comments of people saying Mattel didn't want to be too jarring or dramatically different to the last wave of Hasbro dolls in order to ease people into the transition. That still doesn't make sense to me, considering so many stores have clearanced out the Hasbro versions to replace shelf space for Mattel. I get these are budget dolls intended for children, not for adult collectors, but I think even children would know these characters, even with new designs and packaging. I would have done a complete 180 from the Hasbro designs, just to show them up, not copy their bad quality.
ive definitely heard ppl pronounce the ILY acronym before as "illy" or "illyyyyyyyyyyyy". It's like when people say LOL as "lawl" in the real world....also if you werent aware ILY is an acronym for "I Love You."
I'm glad Mattel got the Disney princess licensing back. The Hasbro ones were kinda meh. I didn't like the 10-12inch dolls as i was with the toddler/animators dolls were
Malissa if you have a Disney store in your town that's where those new ILY Forever dolls are and they cost 29'99 and they also have clothes and assories they cost 16.99. I found one at Target it's Snow White she's so pretty.
I love the cloth skirts but hate the molded plastic tops. My 2 favorite princesses are Snow White and Meridith. Can't comment on Meridith yet but they did snow white wrong with that hair
I agree with this lady about the Disney princess dolls. They should make doll Disney at target store. Walmart store is bad Disney dolls and barbie dolls from the movie.
I like Hasbro snow white face and hair over new Mattel snow White but I'm buying these dolls for my Little nieces and they won't notice any screening issues or wonky eye
There are moms that still work at minimum wage. Some moms still make $8/hour working at retail. For those moms it’s challenging to purchasr $10 dolls when the price of a carton of eggs is $5 and feeding her family is a priority. But tbey make the sacrifice to buy a $10 doll. for her kids to make them happy. The budget dolls are prrfect for 5-yr old kids who play with their toys and stick them in their backpacks along with pudding a d crayons.
I saw that the ILY forever are on the Shop Disney site too, but I can understand if you want to see them, in the shop, for possible defects. I would do the same, if possible (here in Italy, for the moment, they sell them on the Shop Disney site, since every physical shop here is gone, but I also hope that they would sell them in a shop called "Toys Center") I'm also looking forward for the "collector" dolls from Mattel. I hope that they would do some lines like in the past, maybe with beautiful boxes and characters done rightly. Ahahah yeah, Snow White's hair are something (out of a nightmare)! XD The older one is much better. BTW, I also don't like the molded on clothes, but I can understand that they had done that for the kids. They still have to arrive here in Italy, but dolls arrive later here so it's normal. LOL, poor Aurora, with those box hair XD OMG, I'm sorry for the car problem. I hope that you can resolve it quickly.
I think these are probably ok for the really young children definitely under 5 and personally I’m not a fan I don’t think the faces look enough like the actual animations which is actually what should matter most at that age. No articulation really makes me 😢. The only thing I even like at all is the lower skirt material and that it’s actually pretty and removable so the dolls can at least wear the others skirts and the shoes or fine and working shoes not permanent molding on. Also if I had a child that wanted a Disney doll I’d spring for something of higher quality and price tier because interaction and playability are important. I also am super excited about Disney ily 4 ever fashion dolls and the accessory/Disney bounding packs. I would love for you to review them and compare and try on all the different dolls and hear your opinions and what you want done better and more of for the playline. I already love the ily sets for 18” which my SmartDolls have loved except for a few accessories that don’t fit. I really hope that both continue to grow and stick around for a long time. My one wish is that they had just a smidge more separation in the name to differentiate between the sizes for easier shopping especially online, I suspect that all ily 4 ever products will merge into one chunk and you will have to figure out which is which sizes.
