for some people from what I understand they just dont have the resources to go somewhere else and stay, all the rental cars are apparently rented out and there is a mad rush out of there, I think in times like this if they havent already the national guard should supply transportation out of the area and have some type of shelter for people to stay in, I know most walmarts or home depots are considered emergency shelter places they could throw them in there until its over.
National Guard could setup shelters but to provide transportation you have to imagine there's like 10,000 residents per singular National Guardsman in Florida and there's only so many military vehicles each unit has. The shelters being setup in this case would either have to be 2nd floor or government buildings and there's just not enough to go around for everyone especially since this is what a 2nd hurricane hitting in a row they probably downgraded so much from the 1st hurricane that they won't have enough time or manpower to prepare for this 2nd one.
They can't leave. The roads are blocked, filled with cars who ran out of gas.

That's their plan. It's weird when they start making a show out of it.
- I'm living in Florida several counties from South of Tampa, getting blasted by 40-70 winds as I type this. Needless to say, my county alone is counting our blessings this thing isn't hitting us directly.
- This is the first Hurricane that I've seen max out in strength. In the Gulf of Mexico, it topped out at 180 mph (not including wind gusts). 180 Mph would completely decimate anything and everything that isn't completely underground. The planet's atmosphere actually prevents the storm from reaching anything more powerful than that.
- The scariest part of this was not knowing where to go either. Gas is gone. People are told to evacuate, but the possible impact cone was so large that you can still drive right into it when Milton makes its course changes.
- Helene, Idalia, Milton, it's been hell for Florida, not including what North Carolina/Tenessee region has had to go through too.
I highly encourage you to offer your support and donate food, clothing, money, and whatever you can to help out in the rebuilding process.
You go 4 miles inland... you evacuate from the storm surge, not the entire damn storm...

God bless the people of Florida and North Carolina. Stay strong!!!
Just had a tornado pass within 200 feet of my home. Was a sight to see. Definitely wasn't on my bucket list.
From what I've been reading seems like most of the destruction is being done by tornadoes and Milton has now slowed down to category 3.
That is correct. The media is fear mongering like the bastards they are.
No. Not even close.
think of all the gators and poisonous snakes
I'd be more worried about venomous snakes. People don't usually eat snakes, so the poisonous ones would be very low on the death toll.
I’m sure they’ll be fine. They’ve dealt with nature before.
As for the people, then I have faith most will be alright.
Milton has the right to defend itself.
Milton getting revenge on those who made fun of him
I still can't get over what I heard on the radio on my way to work yesterday morning. Some idiot was saying he refused to leave and that he was going to ride out the storm IN HIS FUCKING RV.
Darwinism.
And the darwin award goes to:
And there it is, the October Surprise
Was this not known few days ago? Now I hear there was no time evacuate by some people in there.
they knew around saturday that something was big brewing, sunday it was a big deal with a projected path, monday they were saying get out or die
upto you to make sense of if thats enough time or not. i'm willing to say a bunch of businesses needed to make some weird desicions. if you close up and get out to stay "safe", you lose out on panic buying as well as panic looting. if you stay open, you cost yourself and your employees time to get out of dodge, and every hotel in 100 miles in the safe zones will already be taken
Leaving is easier said then done. Everyone trying to leave at about the same time causes huge lines at gas stations and tons of traffic.
People knew something big was coming
But didnt know its approaching one of the most of disastrous Hurricanes in recorded history
Also the gas stations are out of gas in that area. So if you don’t have enough and you end up in a line it’s pretty much over
They can't leave. The roads are blocked, filled with cars who ran out of gas.
It’s a category 2. Nothing to be freaking out about.
except now I have to FACE THE STUPID BANDS
Category 3 now :)
