There are some really good things about this boot, but there are also some things that will keep me from buying this exact boot again until I see some major overhauls with it. Just few days ago I broke my ankle pretty badly in two places, had to go through surgery and three days in the hospital. Was wearing Gaerne GX1 boots, which is a pretty stiff boot, but not stiff enough apparently. Tech 10s have that ankle brace which perhaps could've saved my ankle, from now on I will never complain about a boot being too stiff.
i’ll tell ya, as much as the stiffer boots such as tech 10s do help, with most high impacts they won’t save you. I’ve broken my ankle in them.
I had the Tech 7 Dry Star boots. Crazy comfortable! I had a bad pair that had to be returned because they were supposed to be waterproof and leaked. That said, they did feel like very high quality boots and they were super comfortable. I also run Gaerne SG 12's and the Tech 7 was more comfortable and when you have the right size, they feel smaller around the rear brake and shift levers. I will own another pair, you might try the Tech 7.
I've found that the middle grade model boots work just as well as the top grade one's for a much better price, for the cost of the flagship models you shouldn't have any complaints.

the tech 7s are really nice boots some pros and alot of fast amateurs wear them
I wear tech 7's and love them. They are so much better than my old O'Neal, and fox boots. I'm sure the 10's are just amazing but I can't see spending that much on them unless I was riding at a professional level, or hitting huge jumps.
I love my tech 10's. They do take some getting use to compared to others. I've had 4 pairs now. I've tried other brands and found myself unable to get use to anything but tech 10's now🤷 I suggest adjusting the brake pedal a tad lower... My help with the phantom braking.
Is that an addiction ? I have 3 pair too about ti buy 2 more different colours 😂😂😂

@gabrielechimento8719 I wear my tech10s for everything, enduro, motocross, adventure bikes. I love my tech 10s. Best boots Ive had. Bought them in 2016 and they are still holding up well.

For anyone thats wondering why they are longer its because alpinestars uses the same size outer shell for 2 sizes so size 7/8 9/10 11/12 the outsides are the same that also means you can put a size 10 bootie in a size 9 shell if you get a deal on pre owned ones
I can’t stress how that important it is to have a high quality boot! Currently sitting here with a broken tib and fib due to cheap boots, I can almost guarantee that if I had better boot I would be fine!
You all better now? Broke my tib on Mother’s Day with my tech 7’s on.

@@ianthompson043 Good to hear. I spiral-fractured my tib 3 months ago; not walking yet. I foolishly rode my CRF250L with street boots. Currently in physio and shopping for boots - so far the Tech 10's are at the top of my list. Glad to hear you recovered well.
Good boots are a must. I also broke my tib and fib on a hard flat landing. Snapped both clean in two. Tore my knees up nearly died. Ok didnt nearly die
Trail riding racing I dont care buy the best boots and helmet buy cheaper tires save pennies everywhere but boots n helmet

I love my tech 10s, the bootys are nice. I also enjoy them for between rides I can pop the main boot off for a minute. I ride similar to what you do here in Utah. They are mu go to boot. But I’ve rode alpine stars for a few years now: my tech 8s also had a booty in them. My least favorite boot I’ve owned was Sidis for me.
SG12 has better fit for me and has better feel and comfort, nice overview, cheers V!
Tech 10s are the best I won’t ride on anything else now
I got them a month ago also in size 11 because the 10 were very tight on my heel, really like them a lot!!! no problems with them so far just a little more time to put them on. Love the buckle system, the best for me and I have Fox instinct and Sidi Cros fire!! No problems with the toes wen I walk and knowing they are larger than other boots I put my feet a little bit more in the area betwen my ball and toes and works just fine!!! But I know from friends backround that the Tech 7 its better for enduro, maybe I will try them next year . Thanks for the review, you rock!!
I prefer a quality Enduro boot with good grip on the souls for trail riding... too many high end boots are better fitted for hard core motocrossers.
I feel like my tech 10s aren't stiff enough and they are brand new, I love the boots and couldn't imagine using anything else, they are just so good
For MX I'd buy the Tech 10, absolutely suck walking on trails or anything off the bike. Currently use Tech 7 enduro and the Alpinestar Toucan enduro/adventure boot. Absolutely all day confort in the Toucan.
I think the issue is, is because that boot really is designed for only one thing... and that MX/SX. Not enduro. High impacts is what this boot was made for.

I love my tech 7s. I get what your saying about the astars hitting the top of your foot. I really only notice it when I bend down in mine. They are probably the most comfortable boot I've worn. They fit my feet very well.
After I wore out my Sidi crossfire 2's I decided to try Forma predator 2.0`s. The boots were comfortable right away, but it did take a few rides to get used to them with the rear brake. You can't go wrong with any of the high end boots as far as protection just find what suits/fits the best. If you're looking for another set to review later the Formas are worth a look.

I just bought the Tech 7 in Size 10, when I usually wear a size 11 shoe or maybe a 10.5. They are the most comfortable boot I have ever tried. Love them and the cost was a lot less than the tech 7.
so if i wear a 10 shoe go with 9 i wear a 11 in fox instinct

In Instinct I wear 45 (size was perfect, but squeeze my ankle to much), tech 7 I bought 44.5 and they were way to big inside, and very long outside, I should go for 43, sidi crossfire1 I had 44 and they hurt my toe, so I bought crossfire2 in size 45 and they are spot on. My next boots will be gaerne sg12, I think in 44.

Too soon for a review sir, you should give them atleast a few months and than give us a review. I have them and use them for enduro and I love them. I was just like you but I gave them some time and now I don't ever see myself going back to the other brand I wore before.
I would ditch those ASAP. I hate the boots with inner boots inside. I have really enjoyed the Tech 7. The sidi crossfires were my previous boot and they were most comfortable, however the pivot hardware got crushed against my ankle - no bueno. After these tech 7's finally wear out I may try on some other boots, but most likely will end up with the Tech 7 again. Wish the Tech 8 did not have an inner bootie.
I like alpinestar but it's a love hate with my tech 5s. My soles on the outside right behind the toe area separated(where it would bend walking at the toe box area) in less than a year leaving a huge opening letting dirt and water in. Alpinestar wouldn't cover repairs, very disappointed. Still ride with them extremely comfortable, just have to glue it closed every couple of months. Will go with sewn on soles next time from another brand.
I have the TCX Helium boot, best boot I've every worn in 40 years of riding. They are the lightest weight of any boot, coming in at around 7.6lbs. They are very very comfortable, light and at the same time very protective. I've hit many of rocks, trees, crashes, etc. no issues. (knock on wood). I believe they are around $500
My problem with riding boots is fit... I have a wide foot and its super painful wearing most boots. All the AlpineStars Tech boots angle in just at my toes and are agony after a couple hours. Gaernes are like a torture device on my feet. The only boots I can wear without pain are Sidi Crossfire TA sole boots...Its too bad the pair I use turned out to be totally crap quality 😐
I tried to get used to the Tech 10’s, ended up giving them away as the phantom braking affected me also. Went back to my old GAERNE SG10’S and never looked back!
Tech 7s are the way to go. I was warned not to go Tech 10 because Indeed they are overkill for Enduro. Have ridden most of the boots you e reviewed and the Tech 7s feel like slippers by comparison. So comfy! I've found my boot! You should review the Tech 7.
Try the tech 7's, they are soooo comfortable, and don't need hardly any break in time...
I have both the tech 7 and tech 10 and I love the tech 7 better! The 7 is crazy comfortable, it’s supportive, and it’s not as annoying to put on as the tech 10 is annoying!!!
An important point you left out of the eval, Alpinestars are no longer made in Itally!! Even the Tech 7's aren't as comfortable as they used to be.
I get phantom breaking too in my 7's. But I have a size 13 foot so sometimes my foot will press the lever part of the break near the engine case.
Thanks for the review. The Tech 10 is a bit pricey for the amount of riding that I do. I love my Tech 7s. I strayed away from Alpinestars some time ago and was not happy with my choice. I couldn't wait until I wore my Fox boots out. I have since returned to Alpinestars but I think the only other boot I would try is the Gaerne.
I've been wearing Tech 10's since early 2005. In 2006 I totally shattered my left Tib Fib while wearing the 10s! That's all I want to say. Nice review.

I just got the T7s and really like them. Love my Gaernes but the T7s are more water proof. Tried on the T10s but the weird booty was well weird and they don’t accommodate my fat feet as well as the T7s. Great review.
Have you given Leatt 5.5's or forma boots a try? I came very close to getting the leatt boots they looks pretty good and definitely have a competitive price.
I quit buying Alpinestars boots after both pairs that I had all the plastic on the outside cracked and fell apart after a few years of use,switched to moose boots they are alot cheaper and have lasted alot longer
Great video, I went for the T 7 to the Sidi CF and found much better brake control & feel, How does your Sidi boots compare to the Gearne ?
I came to all the same conclusions. I have both the Gaerne and Sidi. First time I've been 100% with you!!
The tech 8 is the best of both worlds (not the lite version though.) The booties don't have any plastic, only a small removable gel pad so you can just toss the bootie in the washer. I've had all three, tech 7, 8 and 10. The 8's are the best.
Tried some one once. I know the stiffness is all to save your bones. But its not for me. I got tech 3 enduros. Love em

What boot would you get for trail? I have some gaerne size 10 and it's heavy, bulky, and still broke my toe ( I slid out and my toe was pointed down when the bike came down on my heal). My biggest discomfort is my shins get rubbed by that rubber lip thing. My biggest problem is how bulky they are. I just bought wider pegs (cheap Amazon type) so I don't feel like I'm hanging off the side.
Honestly in any other boot your probably would of broken your foot, luckily with garnaes they don’t flex in the toe box, consider being lucky only your toe broke, in a set of tech tens or something you’re foot would snapped in half, also would of had some type of ankle injury.
I wear the tech 7 enduro and there great boots very comfy

The Tech 10 boots are specifically designed for MX, and not off-road/enduro.
Just get the tech 7s enduro and be done. Those are for hard core moto hitting big jumps.
Wrong boot for the type of riding. The tech 7 is what you should have bought. Also, try a size down in the shop next time and I’m sure they will fit better.
