- How can we strike the right balance between enhancing labour market dynamism, protecting business intellectual property, and boosting economic productivity? This critical question took centre stage at the UTS Accounting Department's recent panel discussion, 'Unlocking Labour Mobility: Non-Compete Clauses and Their Future in Australia.”
This panel discussion delved into the complex issues surrounding non-compete agreements, examining the current legal landscape and their far-reaching implications for individual worker welfare, business investment and innovation with the keynote speaker, The Hon Dr. Andrew Leigh MP, for his insightful speech on the Government’s Competition Review and the evolving role of non-compete agreements along with the esteemed panellists: Professor Joellen Riley from UTS Faculty of Law, Dr. Michael Falk from IP Australia and Professor Peter Fleming from UTS Management Department, Dr. Le (Hayley) Ma and Associate Professor Roman Lanis from UTS Business School.
This event, held in collaboration with UTS Beta Alpha Psi - an internationally recognised honour organisation for high-achieving students in accounting, finance, business analytics, and digital technology - offered an invaluable opportunity for UTS Business School students to gain advice from the panellists on navigating employment relations and making informed decisions as they prepare to enter the workforce.
