So glad you guys finally did a song from Allegaeon, these guys are amazing. The clean vocals in this song were from guest vocalist Bjorn Strid from Soilwork, my favorite melodic death metal band. They have an amazing catalog of albums, but I still love the first two albums best. Not much clean vocals on them (although I do love his clean vocals on the later stuff), but the songs are amazing. I highly recommend Machinegun Majesty off the album the Chainheart Machine.

Oh! This song features 2 people. 1 is a vocalist, who i cant remember his band right now, and he does the cleans and you can also hear his harsh vocals mixed in with the vocalist of Allegaeon through out the song, he has the higher pitched vocal. • @ZoniaTV
      @ZoniaTV 6 років тому +5

@@Raijin-RyuX24 Yeah, unless you're actively involved in AI, it's hard to understand how far it has come. Those of us who work with it on a daily basis (even when we're off work) are well aware of how far it has come and how hardware has evolved to advance AI development, yet are still surprised by the results. I have a Neural Compute Stick 2 on its way to me right now and in the last few years I have been dumping source data like mad onto Google Cloud and running DL models on them. In the work place, we can't even understand the decision making of our own models, today. The logic is basically a black box, at this point. AI tech is evolving so rapidly, statements like what Vin made show how far behind everyone else is on understanding what is going on in the field.

Good song, enjoyed it. I really like the wall of sound the rhythm guitar(s) create during the outro. I see that current Scar Symmetry guitarist Ben Ellis does the leads in this song, & Björn Strid of Soilwork the clean vocals. Love how he sings the line, "The majority will benefit, so erase this carbon plague." This song seems to be saying that A.I. beings will end up being just like us, beings that would rather conquer over, instead of cooperate with.

Btw the reference in the song for the "law of three" it's a reference to Issac Asimov, one of the greatest science fiction writers. It's a reference to the law of robotics in his writings about artificial Inteligence.
His laws of robotics go like this
1st a robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2nd a robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the first law.
3rd a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the first or second law.

It's funny how I had no idea the guitar player for Scar Symmetry played in this, yet for some reason after a short while it reminded me of Scar Symmetry... and then I heard Bjorn's voice (from Soilwork)... and yeah, the whole thing just sounded very "European" to me (I'm saying that because I know they're an American band).
Didn't sound like Periphery at all to me, which is a good thing, as I really dislike both Periphery's vocals, and the "djent sound" which annoys the hell out of me in general. This had a nice combo of being technical yet still extremely melodic like a normal Scandinavian Melodeath band. All in all, I like it, but I already knew that, I've heard this before, just not with as much attention I guess.
And I feel like with my mentions to Scar Symmetry and Soilwork, I should once again suggest you guys to check out some more "Scandinavian" band, not that you haven't listen to a bunch of them (Amorphis, Messhugah, etc) but, for example, you've done At the Gates and In Flames, pioneers of the "gothenburg scene" (Melodeath), and also but have yet to listen to Dark Tranquillity. Or Insomnium, a later band, who have been making consistently great melodeath since they appeared.
And then there's Edge of Sanity, a band that put out one of the best Concept Albums ever (Crimson), in my opinion. A band led by Dan Swano, a legend of the scene. The guy's a record producer, who produced albums from bands like Opeth, and he has sang both Death Vocals and Clean Vocals for multiple bands, and plays the drums, and the guitar, and the bass... oh yeah, and the Keyboards too. He has put out albums where he did it all, like "Moontower". So yeah, some Edge of Sanity would be cool... Crimson is only 1 song, a 40 minute song, but something like "Twilight" from the previous album is also pretty good.

    • @khellendross3573
      @khellendross3573 6 років тому

I can see why Vin would get Periphery for two reasons. The ultra clean production and the breakdown part in the middle. Notice even sori said "depends on the time" when Vin said it sounded like Periphery.,
There aren't to many bands that sound like Allegaeon, but I would say it actually sounds less European to me and more American/Australian because parts of it remind me of Ne Oblivscaris and Revocation. But I guess the closest musically speaking would be bands like Obscura, Beyond Creation and Persefone.

So happy you did an allagaeon song! This is not my favourite song of theirs but I can see why it was suggested. Very interesting subject matter. Thumps up to whoever suggested this song. I'm with Vin on this one, I too believe that it is impossible to create a completely free intelligence, one part of intelligence comes from something transcendent that cannot be manufactured. Also if it was not true, I would not know why someone would want to create something like that. However, some moral judgements may be made based on logic too. However again, if these beings were so intelligent, they would see how the evil deeds, even if evil are not illogical. Hence they would see the logic that drives humans to do the sins and hence would spare us, maybe!

Vin is right by the way, I think we are meant to maybe not necessarily agree with the AI's extermination of man, but we should completely understand it. I mean it is completely rational. A super intelligent learning AI would see what we have done and continue to do to each other and based on how we pass on knowledge to our children, probably determine that we are far more of a danger to the planet (and ourselves) and as such we should be wiped out completely. The part at the beginning by the way is Professor Stephen Hawking. So I would say that if anyone has a right to be furious with God, and be convinced in his lack of existance, it would be one of the smartest and brilliant minds in the world who was crippled by ALS. Two interesting quotes by Mr. Hawking might be of interest to you Vin.
"We are each free to believe what we want and it is my view that the simplest explanation is there is no God. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realisation. There is probably no heaven, and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for that, I am extremely grateful"
and more importantly.... "If you like, you can call the laws of science ‘God,’ but it wouldn’t be a personal God that you would meet and put questions to." That last quote is a pretty crazy one and really makes you think. If one believes in God, how does one perceive of something so powerful? Do we characterize God in the manner that we do simply because we lack the frame of reference and the ability to comprehend something so powerful? And might that be mistaken for a law of nature, or vice versa? Interesting thoughts. Wether or not you can get behind his thoughts on religion and philosophy, there is no denying that he was a towering genius in the world of science.

it has less to do with the length than fatigue factor I think. They did longer songs from Iced Earth, Vektor and Ne O and had no issue. Especially with Allegaeon its a rather blistering assault of highly technical riffs. Though this wasn't even a longer song from them.

The number three has been used since time immemorial to describe the fundamental attributes, principles or personalities of God and the forces of Nature. For example:
Christian - Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
    Taoist - Yin, Yang, Tao
Hinduism - Brahma is the creator, Shiva is the destroyer, Vishnu is the preserver.
Hinduism - The Three Gunas - Rajas, Tamas, Sattva.
Zoroastrian - Ahura Mazda is the father of two twin spirits, Angra Mainyu is the destructive one, Spenta Mainyu is the holy spirit.
Egyptian - Re was his face; Ptah his body; and Amun his hidden identity
Sumerian - Anu is the father, Enlil is the wind-god of the earth, Enki is the god of waters and wisdom.
Etruscan - Tinia, Uni, and Menerva.
Roman - Jupiter, Juno, and Minerva.
Also, one of the fundamental laws of the universe in Beelzebub's Tales is called "Triamazikamno" (The Law of Three), and it's a direct manifestation of the triune nature of His Endlessness as it is expressed in the universe. Gurdjieff defined the triune nature of His Endlessness as three forces - Active, Passive and Neutral. The three Laws of the second note of the Ray of Creation are the direct manifestation of His Endlessness and this is called the Theomertmalogos by Gurdjieff in Beelzebub's Tales. It is the basis of all the structures and processes within the universe and man.
The most important structurally related application for humans is with the formation of an harmonious interrelatedness of the three centers of human consciousness, Intellect, Body and Emotions, in a state known as All-Brains-Balanced-Being-Perception. Gurdjieff called this aspect of the Work and its related repetoire of exercises 'Conscious Labor.' Gurdjieff defined the process of interaction of the three forces as the "harnel-miatznel," where the higher blends with the lower in order together to actualize the middle, and thus to become either higher for the preceding lower or lower for the succeeding higher.
The most important process related application of the Law of Three in the Work is with the transformation of energies for our Being by the exercise of the two Conscious Shocks. Gurdjieff called this aspect of the Work 'Intentional Suffering.' In Beelzebub's Tales, the following prayer describes the process of "harnel-miatznel" as it is used in transforming energies for our Being:
    Holy-Affirming,
    Holy-Denying,
    Holy-Reconciling,
    Transubstantiate in me,
    For My Being.
This prayer is referred to as the Holy Equation or the Holy Affirming Prayer. The Holy Equation acts as a shock in the octave of evolution. It is the formula for the 1st and 2nd Conscious Shocks. As we know from studying the Ray of Creation, the shocks are composed of three notes of a Lateral Octave, each note representing one of the forces of the Law of Three. The Holy Equation,
being based on the Law of Three, has the structure required for supplying the two Conscious Shocks.
Gurdjieff speaks of the threefoldness of the creation as a fundamental cosmic law. He calls this law Triamazikamno, “I put three together.” In the ultimate, cosmic scheme, the Theomertmalogos is the Holy Affirming and the Etherokrilno the Holy Denying.
The whole working of the universe, particularly through life, is the Reconciling.(J.G. Bennett, Talks on Beelzebub's Tales)
The universe is a being with three centers corresponding to our own; their material aspect is comprised of vibration-rates which appear to us as substances. The universe is the body of God; it is the neutralizing force of the Sun Absolute, the manifestation of the interaction of the positive and negative forces of God. We live in the body of God, are made in the image of God and God's 'fancy' is immortality. God is the "I" of the universe, is termed His Endlessness and is not inferior to time. Time is a perpetual perishing. It is the enemy of God. He has a purpose. Our Hope depends on our ability to discover His purpose and co-operate with it. This is the definition of religion, helping God. (A. R. Orage)
Additionally, The Vedic system of knowledge is based on a tripartite approach to the universe where connections exist in triples in categories of one group and across groups: sky, atmosphere, earth; object, medium, subject; future, present, past; and so on. Beyond the triples lies the transcendental “fourth”. Three kinds of motion are alluded to in the Vedic books: these are the translational motion, sound, and light which are taken to be “equivalent” to earth, air, and sky. The fourth motion is assigned to
consciousness; and this is considered to be infinite in speed. (Unknown)
I don't know how or if this applies to this song at all, but it's an interesting read.

Been requesting this song particularly on and off since near the beginning. Glad to see Jen finally got it to happen. Incredible band. They toured with Ne O a year or so ago. Other good ones by them are Grey Matter Mechanics (which is pretty unique in its sound) and 1.618 which you should only do if you watch the official video (it won't get blocked I don't think). This was the right song to start with as its the most "accessible" song from them. Go back and watch the video just to fully understand just how insanely talented these guys are. Most of the work between both guitarists (they both have solos in this song) is done on 8 string guitars for starters. Ben from Scar Symmetry also has a great solo with a really cool tapped arpeggio run. And of course the legendary Bjorn from Soilwork on guest vocals. Legendary singer. This song is a easy 10 for me and one of my favorite bands as of late. Also their singer streams on twitch, very nice guy. I should note that this band does not have a rhythm and lead guitarist per say. Both guitarists trade back and forth on the solos. However on songs where there is acoustic work that is all Greg (the guy with the long hair).

i think the law of 3 is reffering to the 3 laws of robotics but im not sure... someone correct me if im wrong:
First Law - A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
Second Law - A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
Third Law - A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws

HI guys! In regards to your question, "what is the law of three?", this is a reference to science fiction author Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics".
1 - A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2- A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3 - A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
