American soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen is known for her diverse repertoire ranging from Mozart to Wagner. A regular guest at the leading opera houses around the world, Le Monde enthused, “…the American soprano has without a doubt one of the most impressive voices in the opera world. The timbre, of marmoreal beauty, is striking, the projection telluric…”
Ms. Willis-Sørensen opens the 2020/21 season at Opéra national de Bordeaux with her role debut as Violetta in La Traviata, followed by her house debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu as Leonora in Il Trovatore. At the Deutsche Oper Berlin, she sings Elsa in Wagner’s Lohengrin, and makes her debut as Elisabeth in Verdi’s Don Carlo. In November and December, she sings Mimi in La Bohème opposite Jonas Kaufmann and Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

I absolutely love a dark, velvety voice for Mimi. The first time I ever heard this aria was years ago at a YAP and the soprano had a wonderfully dark and warm voice. I've been enraptured by that sound for this role ever since.
The first time I think Kauffmann is over shadowed by her magnificent, dark huge presence on stage
In my heart, I believe Puccini wrote this role for voices of real depth and expanse like yours. Thank you, Rachel.

P.S. ich bin seit 80iger Jahren Oper "obsessed" gewesen, Wagnerianrin (wie an meinem Pseudo Namen , nicht zu übersehen :-)) und habe hier auf YT eine kleinen Kanal , mit meinen Erinnerungen und Geschichten, hinsichtlich, der Oper, aufgemacht.

Es que le gusta cantar así,sin vuelos dinámicos,o es que le tocan esos directores que arrastran las líneas?
Arroyo was superb. A true Verdian soprano. Her voice was larger than Price or Caballè’s.
It was difficult to capture her greatness on records. I think Price and Caballê recorded better. MA was second to none.
