To those who are saying that Tom Kenny probably voiced Dog the way he did to make him sound distinct enough from SpongeBob, I don’t remember Dog sounding EXACTLY like SpongeBob back when both shows were airing on Nickelodeon. There was always a big difference in how they sounded, at least to me. If anything, I think it’s more because Tom Kenny struggles to recapture the same voice performance that he used for Dog two decades prior. It happens to ALL voice actors eventually. For instance, watch a Porky Pig or Yosetime Sam cartoon from the 60s, 70s or 80s and then watch a classic cartoon from the 40s or 50s. You’ll notice quite a significant change in Mel Blanc’s voice over.

It's still Tom Kenny. His Dog voice is basically a high pitched naisely Heffer. But I guess he either can't exactly remember how Dog sounded, or he just can't pitch that voice as high as he use to. Edit. Someone else pointed out this could've been intentional too, as Dog and Spongebob have very similar sounding voices, and it could get confusing if both Catdog and Spongebob are on stage.

It’s a good sick because we won” hearing it now compared to the original Jim and Tom still have the CatDog chemistry from the show.

Tom Kenny has always been voicing Dog since the very beginning. It's just he either forgot to do the voice or he can't voice Dog as he used to anymore. Same thing with Spongebob. Nowadays his Spongebob voice sounds deeper and distinct from his original voice from what he originally sounded in 1999-2004. 2005 is when he sounds a little deep and as years go by, Tom Kenny didn't sound the way he used to sound.

The same thing happened to Claney Brown when he was in Phineas and Ferb. it was in the episode where they are sent to a reform school. Not sounding the same isn’t a bad performance. It’s disappointing, yes, but the emphasis is voice “acting.” Being able to play around with your voice won’t mean anything if you can’t convincingly speak in different emotions while doing so.
