Lyrics:
It's not enough that I'm running on empty
I had to go and run out while I had you in the car with me
You see the elephant saddled with a loan
Hey, ever since I got going I've been going for broke
Well If I do
You said we'll go down there together
You and I
We'll go down there together
Side by side
And if you should fall, I'll follow behind
We'll go down there together
It's not enough that you're wrestling yourself
But your friends talk shit while you're going through hell
You said it feels like you're swimming through mercury
And every night you think you're gonna die in your sleep
Well if you do
We'll go down there together
You and I
We'll go down there together
Side by side
And if you should fall, I'll follow behind
We'll go down there together
Side by side
We'll go down there together
If you should fall, I'll follow behind
And if you should fall, I'll follow behind
We'll go down there together

hundreds of hours spent writing, recording, and animating to make fantastic art. everyone else - awww, theres a doggo!!!
Welcome to UA-cam. :)
Though I appreciate the first more than anything, the second also made me excited. ( Mostly because I now have changed my lock screen to Conor dancing with doggo for a smile anytime I'm stuck answering a work call.)
For real tho the pupper makes the video
It’s physically impossible not to scream the “but your friends talk shit while you’re going through hell” line.
Sources-
Trust me dude I’ve listened to this song like 100 times.
I've read this comment right while this lined was playing.
Those are rookie numbers you gotta pump those up or whatever the quote is
I didn't know how much a needed an upbeat Foxing song until I caught myself - mid workday - dancing in my office like Conor to this song (though without the incredibly outfit, dancing skills, or fluffy doggo).
Sounds like it's time to find a doggo to recreate this with :)
#spacedoggo
Finally- some rotoscoping that isn't cookie-cutter ebsynth garbage. A rare sight in this day and age
We looked into ebsynth about halfway through making it because we thought we’d run out of time. So glad we turned our nose up at it specifically for this comment.
@@Foxing A well-versed animation connoisseur such as myself can really tell the difference. Man, does this look miles better
The fact you and your dog are just vibing in space is fuckin great, this is eternal treasure
Conor & Pup dancing is 🔥
a mood
(I shamelessly made it into an animated lock screen as soon as I saw it. I need some joy throughout my work day.)
I love both Foxing and Pup! Can someone explain, please?! I don’t know what you’re talking about…
This just made my day 10 times better
Conors dance moves may not be coordinated but the way he moves is like the music's flowing through him. He's even more vibin live, this dude is amazing and I love this band whole heartedly.
The perfect mix between happiness and melancholy. I've gone crazy for this song at every mood of the day ❤️
my dog died almost a year ago,it was too hard for me. now I saw Conor hanging out with the dog in space)) and for some reason it’s look too sensible for me , and I’m crying (
If I don’t see Conor in his pretty dress on tour, my sadness will be Immeasurable. I mean, it’ll still be a perfect show. But like, Conor rocks that dress.
It makes me think of a space Emperor of the Romans
In case anyone is wondering, Conor did reply on Twitter. He is planning on “getting as much mileage out of this outfit as possible” haha
babe wake up new foxing dropped
The most powerful band around
Everything about this new album is elevated. Cant wait for the drop, really can’t wait to see the tour.
Got a space wizard vibe 🚀🧙🏼♂️🪐
My husband took me to two Manchester orchestra concerts and I had never heard of them and never listened to them (except when I can hear my husband screaming their songs through the garage while he’s building stuff.) you guys opened for them both times we saw them and both times I was totally blown away and had to buy tshirts because your guys’ style is great. Now we just missed your show last time you were in town so I downloaded this song and then I said “fuck it” and bought the whole album I literally can’t stop listening to it, especially this song. And the fact that the first song lists everything coming next in the album and the way the first ends and flows into the beginning of this one all of it is so great. And maybe it’s more special because I first saw you guys play it live and know your energy idk…just you guys are really great at what you do and thank you. Please don’t stop. And come back to Cleveland/Pittsburgh soon
Great animation.
Inside you there are two doggo’s
i love it
so
so
much
The song of summer 2021
i cant even explain how much i love this song
Not a question but I just want to say I've you guys grow as a band so much. My first exposure to you guys was with Dealer back in 2015 and ever since I've scoured every piece of music you had from Family Might to your Old Songs and to now. Your music literally changed my life and brought me up from my darkest days. To see you guys explore new grounds with your music brings a tear to my eye. Thank you for what you guys do and know that whatever you do and whatever roads life takes you to, you always have a fan in me.
This is the BEST FRIEND song Anthem if Eternity!!!!
everything about this song has such a lovely energy to it, keep makin that funky music!!
About to be late to an exam to enjoy some new Foxing
Wow first 2 tracks of this album are so good I'm literally crying 💜
So absolutely amazing
This song is a whole vibe. I hope we get you on some merch. I need you dancing on a t shirt. Thank you for giving us new music.
Friend sent this. Absolutely lit if i say so myself
This song was stuck in my head like crazy after a random Spotify recommendation & glad I found the song!! so beautiful tune
Makes me think of my old dog, missing holding her paws and having a little dance! Happy song.
Same
Nice work on this one. Still waiting for the song that really grips me like Nearer My God did... the emotional punch in the gut I received from that was what sold me on the band. Hopefully the new album will keep that going!
Update: So now that the album's out, I think Speak With The Dead was the track that gave me the experience I wanted with this album. My personal favorite out of all the tracks right now is Beacons, though.
Hellllllll Yeah
so underrated! i love your music 💜
This song man… Thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
Epic.
Been waiting to hear this again dope af
they opened for manchester orchestra at gas monkey in dallas a week or two ago and honestly i had never heard of foxing before but now im a fan! honestly i think i liked foxing more than manchester lol
woah this is seriously amazing, I'm so impressed with the singles so far. this video is BONKERS, you guys have really outdone yourselves.
This is great! So awesome
Fantastico
Question for AMA, I might be wrong but I get the sense Eric has had more influence or ownership of production with the last album and new bits - would love to know anything about this and how you work as a band on the sound/production.
I remember reading somewhere that Blonde was a big influence on NMG and that blew my mind so yeah, anything there!
Yes your sense is correct. Eric produced Nearer My God along with Chris Walla who mixed that one. For this record, Eric was our lone producer. Most of it was mixed by John Congelton. Odds are, Eric will be producing and mixing the next thing we make.
This song is everything, gives me goose bumps, make me dance and sing all the way with eyes closed.
Thanks from heart and congratulations.
Oh no, I’ve watched this 11k times?!?!
AMA questions - What's in your opinion the most unusual/original approach you've taken to writing a song on this or past albums, i.e. building a song from a single synth or vocal line/drum groove/a specific lyrical theme or idea you wanted to embody in a sound/whatever else comes to mind? Also, would you say that Draw Down the Moon circles around specific lyrical themes? I feel like each of your albums has a sort of a (loose) conceptual feeling and sound around them, even though sometimes specific songs would stray from what I interpreted as that emotional core of the album.
I love every one of your albums and am really glad to be following the development of your artistic process throughout your discography so I'm really hyped for the new album. Loving both of the singles so far and the versatility they, along with the rest of your music bring. Thanks for the answers and thanks for the touching and beautiful music :)
I'm not sure if we've got any truly wild approaches. Two come to mind. For the song "Heartbeats", Eric essentially built the song around a sample of a piece by Rachmaninoff. For the song "Speak With The Dead", I wrote the initial structure as just organ and vocal. I intended for it to be a lone organ and vocal song that we would record in a cathedral but when we started to really work on it, it became something much better and more involved.
All of the lyrics on Draw Down The Moon are built around one thematic concept. Each is a different take on the same concept.
This is different from everything I've heard from Foxing, and yet I love it. I think Foxing and I just click. ☺
The legend of Gun Murphy and Milk
Heard this on Clone High, I decided to listen to the full song, and I love it
I'm started from the song "Grand Paradise" and suddenly in love with Foxing. Really happy to see your new song. Great work !!
Yes son get in!!! More audio gold!
wow. what a song! and artwork/visuals! and dancing! 🔥❤😍❤
This song slaps.
You guys are so underrated. I swear I show your stuff to anyone who will listen!
These lyrics are awesome and inspiring!!!!!
I love you guys so much. Can't wait for more. DDTM has been an experience.
Oh, now that I’ve heard it, I love it.
St.L though!?!? See ya at the next local show!
What an awesome band - the ending with the dog is the best ❤️
It do go down
Awesome 😎 👏
this song man, it hits hard
Thank you for your work into this!!!!!! Ahhh love!!!
Foxing still rocks
I really needed this today, thank you.
Song is so groovy I dig it!!!!!
how does it feel being one of the most creative and innovative bands right now? :) love you guys!! cant wait to see you in stl again! delmar hall calls my name
Love how these all follow the rituals but then I sit here taking notes and trying to find the hidden info in the vid. *makes note about boat*
stupenda
bello!
So excited for the new album! Can't wait!
This is absolutely stunning. So proud of you guys
Conor: Cucumbers or Kiwis? That's a silly question. 😁 real question is, how do you feel about pet snakes? Would you ever have one?
Cucumbers for sure. I would not be opposed. I would name it Nathan Scott Phillips. I think I just don't want to have to deal with the mice aspect of things.
@@Foxing That name is AMAZING! XD You could always feed them frozen/thawed. :) Thanks for the reply!
🇮🇹
never disappointed
How was the process of designing the costume/new look? Are the colors and themes symbolic in any way?
Designing the costume, we had a checklist of desired features. The three most important were that the costume captures the feelings of cosplay, androgyny, and haute couture. The colors are aesthetic choices more so than symbols.
What gave you the idea to animate the video for this song? Great song btw plus the video is amazing
Every album we release we bring up the question of animation. It’s so hard because you don’t want a shit cartoon but we also don’t have a lot of money to do it with. We met Steven Pitingolo who made some rotoscoped gifs of us a couple years ago. I (Conor) immediately hit him up and said we should collaborate. The only thing I’ve ever wanted to really do was make cartoons but always assumed I wasn’t good enough at drawing. But I asked Steven to show me how to animate and he was an incredible teacher. 400 hours and 2,500 hand drawn frames later, we have this.
@@Foxing That’s seriously impressive, keep up the great work!
Who drew the animation? Would love to know what the process was like and which program you guys used.
Steven Pitingolo taught me (Conor), Mitch Renfrew, and Tierney Roberts. The four of us spent right about 400 hours on this bad boy. I'm in the process of making a video showing how it was done for our tiktok.
@@Foxing amazing. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the reply
This song is so addicting
Your music is so good
This needs more views!
YOU ROCK ASF GUYS
My mate just showed me this. Awesome stuff.
only new to this, just found it , sounds pretty cool
This song is a masterpiece
Bespectacled Lumberjack dances with Ghost Dog...
Heartwarming
Grazie Radio Freccia
Non sono l'unica allora!❤
Veramente
Was this done on after effects?
Also, how did the collaboration with Yoni come to be? As a big fan of both of you, it was the collaboration I never knew I needed!
Yes, we used after effects to organize all of our 2500 individuals photoshop files. Each frame was hand drawn at 12 FPS. The vhs effect was a sincere vhs transfer. Burned the video to a dvd, recorded it to vhs tape, then brought back to premiere with a capture card.
Yoni and us have run in the same circles for a long time but our managers actually connected over a D&D related topic. We’ve been massive fans of Why? for probably 15 years and his influence on Foxing is enormous. Truly a dream come true.
@@Foxing wow. That is wild. Super inspiring! Thanks for the answer!
god it’s just so good. so so good.
The "your friends talk shit while you're going through hell" line never fails to resonate with me on a such a deep level. I don't even know how else to explain it tbh. This band would have been so much more known and apperciated if they were around before the 2000s.
This song took me to another wold, and I never want to leave. Thank you for this beautiful work of art.
Yo Gavin... 🤘🤘🤘
💚
cool sound!
Song sounds like [insert one of many thousands of synth-centric 80's-nostalgia-feel songs that have emerged in the last half decade]. Changed a lot since the early days, ain't they. Less unique in seeking to be more unique. High praise from reviews because the sites that write reviews want uniform and trends. Sowwy. Still Foxing. Still like you as music women/men.
Fire 🔥
Yoooooooo
Let’s Goooooo
Got a vibe similar to Passion pit crossed with some obscure 80s cool shit.
Finally this man isn't hurted anymore?
Anyway, I still prefer their old music.
What was the name of the dog in the video?
Ridge!
Me pone a bailar 🔥❤️👀
