All I can hear is Daniel Radcliffe, great review
12 points to Gryffindor!
Wait same I was thinking that then saw your comment
@@eliza-janebreseman5844 all British people clearly sound the same.
@@cameralabs definitely not but to people who aren’t used to being around British ppl all the time & the main source of hearing British accident might be those movies, it’s pretty close! Also this specific person does sound really similar to him, nothing wrong with that
Oh wow he kind of does. Cadence is slightly different.
A very nice review. I really appreciated the comparison between the SQ1, SQ6, Mini 11 and the SP-3 printer.
You're very welcome!
Great review!!! I love my SQ6 and you helped me not get a SQ1 just out of GAS, I am a nut for instant and pretty much want everything!!!
You're welcome!
I just wanted to say I think you're on a bit of a roll lately; I really appreciate the variation in the things you're reviewing during the "in between" times after and leading up to camera launches. It's nice to see and think about things that are more about creativity and process rather than just specs contests!
Thanks!
Your reviews are amazing! Watched your SQ6 review and bought it, shot almost 80 frames now and I love it! Unfortunately I dropped it during shooting in the beach and a little bit of sand got into the lens, it's been acting very weird ever since, trying to get it fixed :)
Update: Could not get it fixed... ended up paying to get it replaced.
@@feyza3717Sad but it can happen.
Don't buy an Instax if you're unlucky enough to get a defective one that takes blurry photos; they won't replace it under warranty. I'm certain it's faulty because I compared it to a friend's camera. They took test shots from 20 cm away and still insisted everything was fine. The company isn't trustworthy; it's essentially a gamble whether your money will be wasted or not. Best regards
Thanks Gordon, a very good comparaison. I fully agree with your final words in this video.
Yess!!! Been waiting for an updated wide!!!!
We've all been waiting a loooong time!
Nicely done ive been waiting for someone to review this, very informative!
You're very welcome!
@@zachsudal if they do a new one I will.
You have excellent reviews that are always a pleasure to watch. After watching some of your videos I opted for an SQ6.
Glad to help!
You always make reviews so fun. Thanks for asking fujifilm when are they gonna launch the wide instax printer? Been asking them in Instagram forever and no answer :(
Thanks Marie, I keep asking too, but they seem in no hurry!
Wow Omg, thank you so much for this incredible review!! I’ve had to take a break in the past from Polaroid cameras and film as I was spending 200+ on film almost every two weeks and I packed on with the instant film cameras- so I’m slowly allowing myself back in and this was review was so helpful!!
Glad to help!
Thanks for the informative review. I desperately needed one since I was looking into buying an instax camera. Considering your review, I guess I’ll go ahead and buy the sq6. Thanks again.
it has a parallax issue, don't so it. I used to want it too.
Great review, I'm eagerly awaiting a second-hand SQ6 in the mail, the format seems great!
Buying 10 packs (or 5 twin-packs) at a time seems to be the best value at my local shop.
I hope Fuji will make a model in the future that combines the manual focus system here with the modes and a bulb mode on the back. Only being able to use lighten, darken and double exposure with the standard focus distance (0.5 - 2 m.) seems easy to fix in the next iteration.
Cheers!
hi! I'm currently on the lookout for an SQ6 as well and can't seem to find one anywhere from a trusted seller - can I ask where you got yours from? - thanks!
@@keerthanabadanapuram1076 eBay ✌
Don't buy instant film in bulk, they don't last forever and deteriorate over time, plus you're only saving minimal amounts of money anyway
Thanks so much for this great review! Ima go for the sq6!
Still using a dirt cheap Instax 100 modified to hold Square cartridges and loving it.
I could even modify it further so it could hold the regular mini cartridges as well so it can shoot on all Instax formats but I'm not interested in the tiny format.
There’s an interesting contrast between this form of photography and the fact that many people seem to consider last year’s model of DSLR or mirrorless to have insufficient image quality.
Yes, it's more about fashion here and which colour / shape you prefer. There are new features, but it's more about the style.
Really nice review and video! Thank you very much for uploading this ☺️
Thank you for reviewing this, ive been waiting for this video since the new instax sq1 rumor floating on internet. I definately get this camera coz I love everything instax. I also wish fujifilm make new wide instax camera or wide printer
Glad you found it useful!
Looking around the local second hand market I see many who fell in love with the idea of Instax, till they had to endure the cost of prints.
Still, there is an use, if you require quickly printed out pictures on the go isn't the worst solution. There are others of course but you know what I mean.
I know exactly what you mean!
Is if possible that you do a video comparing between all the square camera and another video comparing all the minis?
Oh my God, a modern day Polaroid. Remember the SX-70? Thank you for your review Gordon.
You're very welcome!
Thank you! You explain very well. You did a great job!
Thanks!
Just the review I needed before buying this!!! Thank you very much!!! 💙💙💙
Glad to be of service!
Still using my mini 8 which I purchased in 2015. But thinking of getting the square
I second the motion for a Wide format printer!
Richard Burton hell yes!!
Yes, please make a new wide format camera
Hi from Philippines! And Yes! An instax print for wide!😅🙋♀️
I owned Instax Wide 300, LiPlay and my newest SQ6. Lately I really enjoyed the SQ6, and by so far my favorite!💞
What do you think about the liplay?
@@stayfiona4596 Hi! For me, LiPlay is great and useful camera. You can play and edit pictures to your phone and print it. And also use it as instant camera wherein you can choose whether to print or not right away. You can save photos too in the camera by using SD card. Overall its a great camera to have.😊😊
cypdilla🍀 thankss how’s the picture quality compared to sq6?
@@stayfiona4596 I think, it's the same. It varies how you take the photos.😅😊
cypdilla🍀 Thank youu 😍
Nicely done great presentation!
Thanks!
Excellent review!
wow what a great review !!! you really know your stuff and helped me make a decision to get the printer one
Thanks! They now make the printer in wide shape as well
@@cameralabs oh thanks! I just looked into that. I went and watched about 15 of your videos after seeing this one. you offer amazing reviews on a number of different items. thanks for all your hard work
Thanks for the review from Russia ❤️
Спасибо!
Those instax videos of yours are great!
Thanks! I'm working on one of the wide printer as we speak
Perhaps a pedestrian question, but which takes the better photos between the new SQ1 and the old SQ6? I get that the SQ6 has more customizability, but that means fairly little if, no matter your adjustments, it simply takes worse shots. Alternatively, if you can indeed take better shots with the SQ6, I wonder why Fujifilm would discontinue a model that provides more control and better outcomes?
hey i was wondering if you ever got an answer elsewhere to this question? i have been wondering the same thing
I didn't get an answer, and I don't have an SQ6 in order to compare my SQ1 to it. I'd say the SQ1 takes alright photos - IMO way below the standards that smartphones have spoiled us to expect. I probably would prefer something like an SQ6 in the end, but this is still fine and the novelty is enough for us to keep and use it.
I've done a lot of research on instax cameras cause I wanted to get one for myself and I'm new to it so wanted to at least know the basics on how to use it and use its mode. I decided to get an instax sq6, and it was giving me good results for like the first four films I took. But after that, every single film came out blurry.. whether it was in the same environment and angle and setup as the first few good ones or not, it was all blurry. I started to regret it a bit, but I read a review that instax sq6 gets blurry images a lot if you really don't know how to use the modes. So idk what to do, anyone wanna give any tips?
I've run a lot of film through my SQ6 and haven't experienced this - maybe you have a faulty unit?
thank you for this review :)
You're welcome!
thanks for this great series
Great review really helpful!
Now i know which one to get for my Gf for her birthday! 😁
Ah, but you'll need to keep her supplied with film too!
@@cameralabs ouh ya thanks for the reminder!
@@cameralabslove that you mentioned that
I stopped using this camera because its photos have a jelly of animal origin. Now I use polaroid snap. The quality is not the same but I like that touch of retro or 80 '. By this I don't mean that I don't like instax. I like its design.
Yes, it is a shame that gelatin is used in most analogue film processes. I wonder how many people shooting film realise this.
I think the instax printer are far more convenient, you can print any photo from your phone
yes i agree
EARLY❤❤❤❤❤❤I am buying a instax 11....I love your channel ....Yours is exciting to watch...❤
Thankyou!
Thank you very much i struggled which camera i should buy and your review is very understanding and clear😁😊
You're welcome!
I really just want them to combine the Sq6 + Sq1 and just give me a Sq7 lol. I have the Sq6 but it's clunked out on me after three years and I don't really wanna buy it again if I can get it fixed however I do like the style of the SQ1.
I much prefer the cheekiness of instax mini film..... so getting a mini 11 or mini40....
Finally, a B&W square film
My response @ the title:
Nope! That would be the Mint rangefinder camera and a modded Polaroid SX-70 :-)
Mint TLR is also very nice 👍
Thanks Gordon for the useful review. For a first time user would you recommend the Mini 12 or S1? How do you compare the two please ? thank you
Just choose them based on your preferred print shape. I'd choose the SQ1 as I prefer square to mini.
My “like” is definitely for the presenter, and not the product, which I find, as you Brits say, rubbish.
thanks for the review!
also, you sounded like tom holland!
I almost bought a polaroid now until I saw this😍
Do check out my polaroid reviews too which compare them all!
Any experience with a supposed sharper image quality of the SQ1 over the SQ6?
I didn't experience that, no!
Anyone who wants an instant square camera should head over to b&h. The SQ 10 is 89.99 rn
Jesus man this video is amazing
Thanks!
All my respects for their little gadget, but I would rather take my mirrorless and print the photos at home.
1 dollar per photo is a bit pricy for me :-) especially when talking about not so great analog processing.
I always wanted one (or a Polaroid one), but the costs were just awful :-( Cool for novelty but not super practical.
The instax printers could be good for you

I’m watching this now because I can’t decide which instant camera is worth every money 🤣
Are the pictures actually good quality once fully developed on the sq1
yes, didn't I show some in the video?
I’m not sure if I should buy this new square format camera or wait for a new wide format
Will there be a new wide format camera? Becuase I have been planning to get the wide 300! But if a new one's coming out then I can wait and see how to turns out!
Anuj Daniel they made mini 11 and square 1 so it makes sense the next instax will be the wide version besides it has been 5 years since they released it

So I have watched a couple of your videos but still can’t decide which one to go for my option is between the SQ1 and Mini 11?

the problem is the battery cr2 lithium ive never seen that before even mall
¿Cuál recomiendas entre la Sq6 y la mini 90?
I like it but I not like to change battery s I prefer a accu
Do they get the colour or was it a filter in the beginning
Nice one, I just bought one in the same color, great review. Sometime it is great to go back to basic.👍 How many cameras do you have?
I have about six of the INSTAX models for starters!
@@cameralabs I thought so, I only have two Instax + many other cameras, I do camera repairs as a hobby, converting digital camera's to infrared photography etc. You do great reviews, I watching you from time to time. Thanks for sharing.
@@RestorationAustralia thanks, you may enjoy my vintage Dino Bytes channel...
I wish I watched this before purchasing sq1. Also, SQ6 is about $160 now, about $60 more than sq1. Are the quality of photos the same??
The quality is the same, but there's more control over exposure.
Are these photos laminated? how many years do they last?
Not laminated, but they seem to last a while. I've had some that are several years old looking fine e
@@cameralabs Thank you very much!
Are these usually released on a yearly basis? I'm wondering if I should wait for a newer model now that it's September 2021.
damn. i just bought sq6 2 weeks ago...
why?? what do u want??
Wait is this a re-upload?
Yes I'm afraid so, I accidentally showed the Mini 9 in some clips when I was talking about the Mini 11, so since it was less than a day old, I re-filmed those parts and re-uploaded. Sorry!
@@cameralabs great job Gordon, most famous UA-camrs rush the video upload sometimes with wrong infos just for the algorithm and keep it online just to don't lose an high view rate.
You are very professional in this case, content over numbers. Great :) Hope to reach at least a portion of your professional results, cheers.
@@nerdMike thanks! I did lose 3000 views by doing this.
If you don't waste square photo films, I might suggest considering a Fuji Sq20. I own it and I'm super happy with that!
I read a lot of reviews of people saying that they’re fotos always turn out blurry and I want to take pictures of buildings etc on vacation. Would you recommend the SQ1 for this?😌😌😌
Yes, but see my review for the pros and cons
@@cameralabs thank you very much 🙏
Edit: I hated the instax in this comment because of blurry photos, bt i was using wrong mode. Its a great piece of hardware! I can recommend it!
Did you have the lens twisted round to the selfie mode? If not, then it will be blurred at 20cm. In fact I'm not sure it can even focus that close in selfie mode.
@@cameralabs Im going to check it with the new film and let you know if it was the issue. Did like 20 + photos and all of them was very blurry. we were on the party and no one figured this out that there is a selfie mode* so maybe i was wrong all this time.. I was mad when i give it back to service the just mad a photo of another photo as a test. It was looking like a scam.
@@cognitivetransmissions5429 I hear ya, it is incredibly frustrating when the photos are effectively costing about a buck a shot and they're not coming out how you'd hope. The moral is of course to always read the manual or watch a video showing you how to use them first - if possible! I explain it all in this video. I hope you have more luck with it going forward.
Yes! you were right. Ive bought new stack of film and photos are Ok! I feel stupid right now. But Going to edit comment. Maybe it's going to help other people that don't read manual like me ;).
Does it need colors cartridge?!
Which one is better sq1 or mini 11

@@kirtipujare861 the SQ6 is really good.
Does the leica instax camera still worth to buy?
no
Do you plan on reviewing the instax li play?
No plans to at the moment. I normally only review products that are brand new, but in these weird times I may make some exceptions!
I kinda want one of these but film is so expensive 😭
Get it if you really want it :)
The price of film pales in comparison to the memories that are captured in such a nice format, in my opinion.
Can I change the cartridge in the mid way of 10 sheets and replace with other one in this camera?
Like white to monochrome sheets.
Sadly not, if you remove the cartridge mid-way, it will ruin the rest of the prints in there.
Why re-upload?
I accidentally showed the Mini 9 in some clips on my original video when I was talking about the Mini 11, so since it was less than a day old, I re-filmed those parts and re-uploaded. Sorry!
Gordon Laing Ah. Got it. No worries. LOVE your content!!!
The SQ6 has a parallax issue...
unfortunate as I love the square film.
All INSTAX cameras have parallax to deal with! Part of the fun, except when you keep missing the subject!
How many shots from a new film can be taken.??

I have just bought the sq1 but I’m finding the prints are quite blurry and hardly sharp and struggling to determine why :/ can you help?
It's quite an unforgiving system. Try some outdoor shots while you lean against something for support. This will reduce the chance of camera shake or slow exposures being the issue.
Brighton pier
Have you visited? It's lovely!
Can I use instax mini film on my instax square 6?
No, they only use one type
Can you use the instax mini film in the sq1?
No its completely different
Any idea on how to get stuck film out? It's brand new film. I guess i didn't load it properly but it won't release
Hmmm, not sure, I'd take it to a shop that sells them if it's not coming out without force. These things are plastic and could break. Hope you work it out.
what film do u have here?!
Just standard INSTAX film
Why is it more expensive than SQ6?
Probably because it's new
Hello, need your help, i got one thing to clarify here. Its about the batteries. Once we put the batteries inside the camera and maybe might not be using it for few days, are we able to take it out again or we just need to just let the batteries inside? Because i did remove my batteries but when i want to use it, the camera doesn’t function. Why is like that ya? Can you help a sis here. Thankssss
I always leave the batteries inside even if I don't use it for several months. if it were approaching a year, I might take them out!
Is there any black monochrome film available for mini11also?
If they make mono film in the Mini shape then yes, but I used the square shape here which won't work on the minis.
Is it better than Sq20??
I have the Instax sq 1 it take the picture dark and they don’t come out right
Does this happen with all cartridges, or just one? Are they indoors or outdoors? Is the flash working?
Do about polaroid now plssss
I am planning on doing some polaroid reviews soon.
Does it have a double exposure mode?
It does not, you'll need the SQ6 for that.
Aww, thanks, man!
Film is too small and too expansive IMHO!
It's certainly not cheap, but I do like the size and shape of the square format
Gordon Laing i do like the format, just wished it was cheaper and bigger
My photos keep coming out darker with lots of shadows etc, do you know how I can fix this?
You just need more light, so use the flash and place the subject closer, turn lights on, or shoot outdoors in daylight.
@@cameralabs thank you! i will try
