First it was resin river tables, then I bega playing with bookmarks, then cabochan stones, then I started wire wrapping pendants, now I am looking at bracelets and rings.. and collecting tools. Why other wrappers havent shown this wrapping tool is beyond me, but THANK YOU! I have been fighting with my wrapping getting it uniform! I subbed and will be asking dumb questions. your bracelet will be my first with my very own "stone" creations -- eyeballs!
THANK YOU for this really nice video. UA-cam has been flooded with wire wrapping videos, and many of them are very poor. (They don't give audible instructions, and there is this wretched music in the background that is not helpful.) The way I learn is to look back and forth between the work in my hands and the screen, so I NEED the nice audible instructions that you are giving in this video, in order to inform me while I am working with and looking at the work in my hand. The video shows the work clearly and you don't drown us in useless chatter. I will be checking out your book, most definitely. Thanks again for taking the time to do this really fine video.
I don't know if you still read these comments or not but I just made this bracelet. I am not super great at wire work and it has a couple of spots that could be better, but overal it is beautiful! You do a great job teaching. Thank you!
Thank you mr. Jim.. I finally got to see your video, this one I know I’m back an fore. little by little I’m having the chance to catch up with your video.. I love the bracelet so pretty 😍 ... thank you.
Would love to see a pendant, pin or bracelet using a freeform cabachon. Many years ago, after learning how to cut-grind-sand-polish the standard shapes, setting them into handcrafted sterling and occasionally gold settings I designed, I switched to cutting freeform cabachons and setting those. Now I'd love to see how you would wirewrap a freeform cabachon using your techniques.
What a nice design!!! Thank you for sharing it with us. I have to admit that I like any pattern that lets me use my wire-wrap pliers. They have become my go-to pliers and I recommend them to everyone. Thanks.
I'm so very happy I have just found your UA-cam channel, and I am an instant fan! New subbie 👍😉🙏💞 I am also very new to this craft. Didn't even know it existed really... well at least at this level. You’re a great teacher of wire crafting! Thank you so much! With your tools, how do they not mar the copper? If I use mine without a cover it’s marks them horribly!
Hi Jim, love your teaching skills. I love what you call your wrap pliers and have been on line looking for them. Is it a specific name for the plier, I cannot find them anywhere
I call them WrapMaker Pliers and I am the only resource for then at the moment. We are working with a jewelry supplier (Beadsmith) to get them made and distributed. I'm hoping that we will have a new supply by the end of April 2022. Thank you for watching
They're called WrapMaker Pliers. I invented them a few years ago. Beadsmith is now manufacturing/distributing them. You can get your own pair here on my website (wirearteducation.com) or on Amazon (amzn.to/3KzZhUk or amzn.to/3XYp4IJ) Thanks for watching
They are now called WrapMaker Pliers. Originally they were known as wirewrap pliers, but I didn't think that fit, so I changed it. You can order some on my website (wirearteducation.com). And thank you for the compliment and watching the video.
That's a good question. For jewelry that I make and sell I use sterling silver and I don't oxidize. I prefer the piece to be brightly polished. I'm not against adding a patina, I just don't do it. Thank you for the question.
@@JimMcIntosh thank you for replying 😊 I have only just seen certain pieces oxidised and wondered how it works. Then I found UA-cam video's showing how it's done. I like both outcomes to be honest. I will let you know how I get on when I try to make one of your works of art!
I invented these pliers and at the moment am the only one carrying them. You can visit my website at wirearteducation.com to find them. Thank you so much for your interest in them and for watching my videos.
Hi Jim, tarnishedsilver here from the old "about.com jewelry making". I bought your 1st two books. I've wondered what happened to the wiresmith. lol Got a question. Why do you not use the wire that the pliers hold, and use that excess for a couple of wraps.(Neat pliers, by the way) Or do you use them when you use silver? Glad to have found you. God Bless You & Yours
Interesting question, thanks. You could use that wire. for the purposes of teaching and demonstrating the technique I've decided not to always use that bit of wire. This cuts out an extra step that could be confusing to some people. In some of my other videos have commented that you add an extra wrap or two using this small piece of wire. Thanks again...and thank you for watching
Hi Jim I have been watching your tutorials but the question I would like to ask some of my ladies have been asking if I can use silver wire as some don’t like copper ect can you advise what wire I can use look forward to your answer thanks uk
Thank you for that question and thank you for watching. For any of the projects that I do for my tutorials you can use any wire of your choice. My preferred metal is either sterling silver of argentium silver. I like those because I like the look of silver. The thing that I focus on most isn't the metal type, but the metal shape. My preferred metal shape is square wire because it sits squarely in a ire bundle making it easier and more appealing to wrap. I hope that answers your question.
Hey, Jim! I would love to buy a set of your wire wrapping pliers, but don’t know how to get to a sale site! Please let me know how I can get a pair! Thanks!
Unfortunately there is no clear answer. preventing copper from tarnish or turning you green is something that people have been fighting for years. One trick that I've heard of is to cover the the copper with clear fingernail polish or a lacquer. That will prevent moisture from interacting with the copper.
That's a good question It all depends on the metal that is used and the stone. That particular bracelet that I made in the video I would probably list for $50 to $75.
What is the name of those pliers u r using and where did you get them? I can’t seem to find them anywhere online? Thank you and so glad I found your videos.
