    First it was resin river tables, then I bega playing with bookmarks, then cabochan stones, then I started wire wrapping pendants, now I am looking at bracelets and rings.. and collecting tools. Why other wrappers havent shown this wrapping tool is beyond me, but THANK YOU! I have been fighting with my wrapping getting it uniform! I subbed and will be asking dumb questions.
    your bracelet will be my first with my very own "stone" creations -- eyeballs!

    THANK YOU for this really nice video. UA-cam has been flooded with wire wrapping videos, and many of them are very poor. (They don't give audible instructions, and there is this wretched music in the background that is not helpful.) The way I learn is to look back and forth between the work in my hands and the screen, so I NEED the nice audible instructions that you are giving in this video, in order to inform me while I am working with and looking at the work in my hand. The video shows the work clearly and you don't drown us in useless chatter. I will be checking out your book, most definitely. Thanks again for taking the time to do this really fine video.

      Would love to see a pendant, pin or bracelet using a freeform cabachon. Many years ago, after learning how to cut-grind-sand-polish the standard shapes, setting them into handcrafted sterling and occasionally gold settings I designed, I switched to cutting freeform cabachons and setting those.
      Now I'd love to see how you would wirewrap a freeform cabachon using your techniques.

      That's a good question. For jewelry that I make and sell I use sterling silver and I don't oxidize. I prefer the piece to be brightly polished. I'm not against adding a patina, I just don't do it. Thank you for the question.

    Hi Jim, tarnishedsilver here from the old "about.com jewelry making". I bought your 1st two books. I've wondered what happened to the wiresmith. lol Got a question. Why do you not use the wire that the pliers hold, and use that excess for a couple of wraps.(Neat pliers, by the way) Or do you use them when you use silver? Glad to have found you. God Bless You & Yours

    • @JimMcIntosh
      @JimMcIntosh  3 роки тому +1

      Interesting question, thanks. You could use that wire. for the purposes of teaching and demonstrating the technique I've decided not to always use that bit of wire. This cuts out an extra step that could be confusing to some people. In some of my other videos have commented that you add an extra wrap or two using this small piece of wire. Thanks again...and thank you for watching

    Hi Jim I have been watching your tutorials but the question I would like to ask some of my ladies have been asking if I can use silver wire as some don’t like copper ect can you advise what wire I can use look forward to your answer thanks uk

    • @JimMcIntosh
      @JimMcIntosh  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you for that question and thank you for watching. For any of the projects that I do for my tutorials you can use any wire of your choice. My preferred metal is either sterling silver of argentium silver. I like those because I like the look of silver. The thing that I focus on most isn't the metal type, but the metal shape. My preferred metal shape is square wire because it sits squarely in a ire bundle making it easier and more appealing to wrap. I hope that answers your question.

    Hey jim i love your work, do you have any tips to keeping the copper from Tarnishing and turning skin green?

    • @JimMcIntosh
      @JimMcIntosh  4 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately there is no clear answer. preventing copper from tarnish or turning you green is something that people have been fighting for years. One trick that I've heard of is to cover the the copper with clear fingernail polish or a lacquer. That will prevent moisture from interacting with the copper.
