Hey man, I just wanted to thank you! Finally!! My DCS is running as it should! I have an i7 13700k RTX 4080 and 32GB ram. I was getting horrible performance, god awful. On medium to low DCS settings, it would show 160FPs on Nvidia’s performance counter, but would plummet to 1, 3, 7, 10FPs anytime an enemy would come into view, I’d change a view, or I’d be in cockpit and move my head (especially turning my head around looking behind me). The staggering, stuttering, pausing made it a miserable experience. I did the changes you outlined for Nvidia control panel AND the Process Lasso (which I had never heard of) and it has fixed EVERYTHING! I am getting 130FPS now, but it is liquid smooth with zero stutters or lag spikes. I’ve been able to crank the graphics and under the most strenuous scenarios, never see it drop below 110FPs and it’s immediately right back up to 130. Thanks you! I don’t exactly understand process lasso, what it’s doing and why it helps SO much, but I love it.
You are so welcome Nate 😀 I am happy that this helped you to achieve a smoother experience in this Sim . Huge thanks for the visit btw ! Please enjoy and fly safe 🦅

I just recently found your channel again after losing my UA-cam channel account around Christmas, so I've just re-subscribed. On a recorded DCS benchmark video I had 3075 MHz on the RTX 4090 GPU clock. I just checked the video to see. In Afterburner I have my core set to +212 and my memory set to +1800 when in VR or 2D gaming, benchmarking etc and I have had zero crashes or artifacts. I have seen the power jump as high as 511 Watts whilst mining though but all three GPU temperatures (2 GPU chip temps and VRAM temp) remain under 85 Celsius with the three onboard air cooled GPU fans. The highest overclock I have in my GPU Afterburner profile is +242 Core and +1824 on the memory but it is unstable and memory artifacts can appear sometimes. I have found that their is no point in going over +212 on the core as the clock speed doesn't get any higher for me during my testing. I also find that OpenXR Turbo mode helps me a lot with keeping 90fps in the HMD in DCS to the point where I can just run CAS really high. I recorded a video but it's only in 1440p as it was recorded on my retired Samsung G9 and not my new 4K monitor. I have CAS set to 100 in the video and found it to be too high for me. I tend to fly the WWII Warbirds in multiplayer so it is less CPU intensive. I plan on moving up to Cold War planes for multiplayer on Enigmas server so I can see the CPU being a bigger issue there. When I go higher than 51 on my 12900K it gets unstable as I think I need a better CPU AIO cooler. I wish I could afford the 13th Gen i9 right now. Maybe next year. Basic specs: Zotac RTX 4090, i9-12900K with 2 x 16 GB (32gb) DDR5 XMP 5600 memory and HP Reverb G2 V2. Two cards of CPU RAM are faster than four cards according to a CPU overclocker I used to follow. I wrote more but I accidentally deleted it as I pressed my number buttons on the left side of my F'ing Mouse. Overclocking the CPU BCLK in the Bios should help as well as doing a custom DDR4 or DDR5 CPU RAM timing overclock. Make sure to do your research if attempting to overclock your CPU and CPU RAM. Try it at your own risk and be careful! I lost my Operating System trying this for the first time, so back up your OS, Windows etc.

Great Video, thanks!! I wonder if you could upload a screenshot of your DCS settings? It's very hard to read, even when I take a screenshot and zoom in. Plus you would have the new 2.9 settings and layout.
Hello one question I play pc/vr and yesterday I had an idea is it possible to put better resolution in your dominant eye and lower one in your non dominant, I think it would work because most of what you see comes from the dominant eye, so lowering the non dominant eye quality would be pretty much unnoticeable but it would leave more pc power for better resolution for the other eye
Hi, Thank you for this tutorial. My computer is i9-13900K,64GB RAM, RTX 4090 card. I have a Pico 4 as HMD and YAW 2 chair. Before following the setup of this video, I couldn't even get DCS to run with Pico4 and YAW 2 chair. It took a long time for DCS to loadup and during the game there is a lot of stuttering. After overclocking the computer with your method, I finaly get YAW 2 chair and Pico 4 to function. Yet, I am only getting 37FPS. I went through the video three times, checking step by step to see if I missed anything. I stopped the YAW 2 Game engine just to see if that is the cause for me not to have a higher FPS. But, it didn't make any difference. My DCS is the stand alone version. I added the force OpenXR and force VR parameter. Is it because of the Pico4? Will it be better if I change the headset to other brand? But I saw in the comment below, some user with Pico4 can still get 70 FPS. Could you please give me some advice what to do next to get a higher FPS? Thanks!
Thanks JD 😊 The CPU OC will only apply for the i7 12700k , but the xmp profile will be relevant ...as well as the other settings in this video . Thanks again for the visit . Fly safe 🦅
Hey dude, great videos! I am fairly new to DCS, not a gamer but am an avid flight sim guy who knows nothing about computers. I just built my first pc solely for flying in DCS and MSFS and obviously thought it would run perfectly right out of the gate. I’m running an i9-13900 and rtx 4080 with 64gb of ram and the hp reverb g2. When I watch your videos it is like you are speaking Chinese and I have no idea what you are talking about, lol. Without knowing what I am doing, I am too nervous to jump into the bios settings for fear of messing stuff up or damaging my computer. I’m obviously aiming for 90 fps but want as much detail and resolution as possible. This should be very possible with the hardware I’m running but so far I have struggled to maintain 30 fps unless I turn down a lot of the settings in DCS. Can you help a brother out? Do you have any advice? Lol
Hello and welcome to Eggro VR , plus congrats on the first PC build BTW 😀 The settings in this guide will not damage your PC , although please skip the part with the CPU Overclock , as it is intended for the 17 12700k and is of no use with regards to your CPU / 13900. I am now using the i9-13900k paired with the 4090 and these settings still very much apply , even after DCS Edge 2.9 update .. yet I do have another video coming soon , which will be more relevant and up to date . Honestly , for now if you follow this guide ( Without the CPU OC ) you will easily maintain 90 fps with that beast of a PC . First , I would turn off Hags ...just type GPU in the bottom left search . Then disable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling . Second , download the OpenXR toolkit (link for the DL is provided below ) and follow the guide . You will be up and flying at a better/ and stable 90 fps in no time on the G2 . You can also overclock your GPU , but it really isn't necessary and will generate more heat, so skip that too. Please do enjoy and don't worry , " you got this " If you still have questions along the way ,please don't hesitate to message again ..I'll do my best to get ya sorted 👌 Fly safe 🦅
Absolutely ! Yes , this guide will work with your current setup...although you may have to lower the render scale down a bit in OXRTK. If you run into any issues , please feel free to comment again, and I will be more than happy to help . Good luck Fly safe 🦅
@@eggrovr2733 my biggest problem is, after like 10 15 minutes in the game it’s starts to pixelate and it looks like I’m inside a aquarium. I can play with no problems until this happens. I don’t know what to do other then go back to track ir while I don’t upgrade to a desktop computer
@tiagoduarte2669 Try Textures at Medium / Terrain Textures @ Medium / Shadows Off / MSAA Off and Render Scale @ 2800 × .... from OXRTK plus definitely disable HAGS . If that works , then slowly bump up your render scale . Hope that helps 🙏 Good luck Fly safe 🦅
Hi Eggro. I have a question regarding multi threading. My computer is a 13th Gen Intel i9-13900K, 3000 Mhz, 24 core, 32 logical processors. When I run DCS in VR I get 90'ish fps with most things maxed out - however, when I have the frame rate monitor on there is a constant message "CPU Bound - rendering thread". I think this is a case that I do not need to have multi-threading enabled and, in fact, it is causing issues. I can't just run the non-multi threading version of DCS as that doesn't support DLSS. So to my question (eventually) - how do I disable multi threading on a Windows 11 machine. I looked in the nVidia Control Panel but apart from an option to change 'Threaded Optimisation' there isn't a big red button that says 'turn off multi threading'. 😄 Help! Regards Nial
Hello Nial :) The most simple fix for this, that I found that works, is to simply set CPU affinity / Park CPU Cores that are running @ max 100% regardless of the task in this Sim by using Process Lasso . In my research so far , I found that in my particular case in MT version DCS VR Edge 2.9 , that Cores 8 through 11 were at 100% regardless of the task. If you have Process Lasso or are familiar with the app , simply launch DCS MT exe and Process Lasso . While DCS is running , then bring up Process Lasso and check plus monitor which Cores are at max . In your case , could be Core 0 for example. If that is the case, while in Process Lasso, click Active Processes and right click DCS. Then choose CPU affinity and scroll down to the problematic Core/s and uncheck said Core/s. I have read that some folks completely disable their E-Cores which can be done through your Bios , by disabling Hyper-Threading or again by using Process Lasso and set affinity and uncheck you E-Cores , which I find irrelevant and counter productive for DCS MT ...when you could just disable only the problem Core/s. I do have a video that I will be launching soon, which will preview this exact issue and the process that worked for my case scenario , yet this really should help in your situation . I am also now using the i9 - 13900k and of course , it sort of blows to disable any Cores of this Beauty of a CPU , but it does seem to do the trick...for now 😀 I really hope that this helps you my friend . Fly safe 🦅
Hello Bjrn:) Yes this does apply a few new features including more stability in your frametimes and fps , although the settings themselves , are very similar ...a few adjustments were applied to my configuration to gain even more stability. Although the CPU OC will be only relevant to those with a similar CPU . Hope that you are well my friend : Enjoy and fly safe 🦅
@@eggrovr2733thanks man. All is good here. Not too happy with the pc for vr but it's less then a year old so i gotta deal with it sometime longer. Another tip: when you fly in the dark set "sunglasses" in open XR (under appareance) to "Trunite" for me it makes black in vr really black (hp reverb2). Could be that it's hmd specific, but i really enjoy the better visual experience at night. Give it a try buddy.

Hello Mega : Have you possibly tried OXRTK ? , and the settings provided ? Also I would recommend turning Hags off as well as turning Core Isolation off too. Also which HMD are you using atm ? It really does not hurt to try and lower a few settings to dispose of any/all stutters . If you're on the MQ3 , which cable are you using ? and how is your internet connection ? I finally got a stable gameplay, I changed some Bios settings with power phase control for CPU and RAM. and a few other settings that where suggested to be turned off to enhance gameplay experience. also RTX wasn't enabled apparently for my 4060ti so I enabled that as well and doing a few 1v1 gun fights with the f-15c I was getting 60-90 FPS with medium settings. game looked great and after all the hours I've put into optimizing this and DCS I can say that was the absolute best experience I've ever had on a game. even to the point where when turning I got that gut feeling like when you ride a roller-coaster! @@eggrovr2733

Thanks!
Will this video help for those of us who made the mistake of buying Radeon 6800 xt??
This is a pretty amazing video. Question. Do the UEFI settings apply the same to AMD? I have a 7800x3D on a 4090 if it makes any difference. Thanks
Thanks JD 😊
The CPU OC will only apply for the i7 12700k , but the xmp profile will be relevant ...as well as the other settings in this video .
Thanks again for the visit .

Lol
Hello and welcome to Eggro VR , plus congrats on the first PC build BTW 😀
The settings in this guide will not damage your PC , although please skip the part with the CPU Overclock , as it is intended for the 17 12700k and is of no use with regards to your CPU / 13900.
Please do enjoy and don't worry ,
" you got this "
If you still have questions along the way ,please don't hesitate to message again ..I'll do my best to get ya sorted 👌

Would you recommend this for a gaming laptop with a 3070?
Absolutely ! Yes , this guide will work with your current setup...although you may have to lower the render scale down a bit in OXRTK.
If you run into any issues , please feel free to comment again, and I will be more than happy to help .
Good luck

Thank you sir!
@tiagoduarte2669 You are very welcome my friend 😊
@@eggrovr2733 my biggest problem is, after like 10 15 minutes in the game it’s starts to pixelate and it looks like I’m inside a aquarium. I can play with no problems until this happens. I don’t know what to do other then go back to track ir while I don’t upgrade to a desktop computer
@tiagoduarte2669 Try Textures at Medium / Terrain Textures @ Medium / Shadows Off / MSAA Off and Render Scale @ 2800 × .... from OXRTK plus definitely disable HAGS .
If that works , then slowly bump up your render scale .
Hope that helps 🙏
Good luck

Hurray for everyone with a 4090. How about some settings for a 2070 Super? Thanks.
Help!
Regards
Nial
Hello Nial :)
The most simple fix for this, that I found that works, is to simply set CPU affinity / Park CPU Cores that are running @ max 100% regardless of the task in this Sim by using Process Lasso .
I am also now using the i9 - 13900k and of course , it sort of blows to disable any Cores of this Beauty of a CPU , but it does seem to do the trick...for now 😀
I really hope that this helps you my friend .

Does this add anything new after your last video about 2 months ago?
Got 80-90fps with that consistently.
Hello Bjrn:)
Yes this does apply a few new features including more stability in your frametimes and fps , although the settings themselves , are very similar ...a few adjustments were applied to my configuration to gain even more stability.
Although the CPU OC will be only relevant to those with a similar CPU .
Hope that you are well my friend :
Enjoy and fly safe 🦅
@@eggrovr2733thanks man. All is good here. Not too happy with the pc for vr but it's less then a year old so i gotta deal with it sometime longer.
The 3080 (10 mb) is just meh and with multithreading the Ryzen 5 7600x isnt too great aswell. Allthough the gpu is my bottleneck.
Not sure what the best upgrade would be since i don't wanna fork over 2000€ for a 4090 just to find that the cpu will be the next bottleneck 😂
Thanks for the tips again. Ill check them out. Stsy safe buddy and keep up the great work. 💪🏼
Another tip: when you fly in the dark set "sunglasses" in open XR (under appareance) to "Trunite" for me it makes black in vr really black (hp reverb2).
Could be that it's hmd specific, but i really enjoy the better visual experience at night.
Give it a try buddy.
@bjrnchrstn Will try it out:) Thank you !
I'm just on vacation at the moment , but I am excited to try this .
@@eggrovr2733enjoy the holidays mate. Let me know if you liked the truNite setting after. 😅
I have a I7-5930k, 32gb of DDR4 clocked at 2666, Nvidia 4060ti 8GB 500mb SSD that runs windows and DCS world CPU is liquid cooled. I get alot of stutter in dcs when useing VR my pc is Over clocked with cpu turbo up to 4.1ghz. any recommendations?
Hello Mega :
Have you possibly tried OXRTK ? , and the settings provided ?
Also I would recommend turning Hags off as well as turning Core Isolation off too.
Also which HMD are you using atm ?
It really does not hurt to try and lower a few settings to dispose of any/all stutters .
If you're on the MQ3 , which cable are you using ? and how is your internet connection ?
I only ask these questions because these issues that you're having could be a myriad of possible issues , that can be fixed with more information.
Please keep me posted as to your results , and I will do my best to help out 🙂

I have the Oculus rift s and I'm using the cable connections that come with it. OXRTK? im not sure what this is. My x99 asus deluxe dosent seam to have core isolation built into it havent been able to find it at all. I did turn settings down and continue to adjust but havent gotten anything 100% stable. Ive gotten close but not 100%

Hello man :-) Thank you very much for sharing. Do you still recommend to use this optimization on a "big" setup with a RTX 4080 or is it only for minimal setup ?? Thank you and keep the good job ! 😁
Hello and welcome 🎉
This guide is still very relevant for mid spec H/W .
I was able to maintain a rock solid 90 fps even with my previous PC / RTX 3080ti with these settings provided .
Fly safe my friend 🦇
My "system" settings have a ton more options than what is shown in the video for some reason. Any ideas? I just started DCS yesterday.
Hello there Mibarri :)
The latest update from Eagle Dynamics is Edge 2.9 , which offers a few more available settings like DLAA , FSR , NIS, SSS ,and finally DLSS 😀
Hope that this video helps you to achieve the desired fps and framerates , but please keep in mind that the Overclock shared in this video is for the 17-12700k and should only be used for that CPU .
Welcome to DCS 😀
Please enjoy and fly safe 🦅
@eggrovr2733 my cpu is a 7950x. Gpu is a 4090. Does this still apply? Also thx for the friendly welcome.
@Mibarri This guide will definitely pair well with your rig 👍
At the time of this upload , I was using the i7 12700k / 4090 and now have the i9 13900k / 4090.
I think that your CPU is better than my 13900k for this Sim and FS 2020 , although the Overclock that I provided in this video, is not applicable to your rig .
Please do let me know as to your results .
If you have any questions , please feel free to comment .

Would this work with a 3090
64gb ram
I9 12900k?
Curious as dont want to fuck up my sytem 🤣
The settings will work perfectly for your rig 😀
The CPU Overclock is a no go for your CPU though .
These settings will help you achieve 90 fps / stable though .
Good luck

things like taxi lines, aircraft and text look really jagged. I have a i7 10700f with a 3070.
Is 3070 good for vr or do need 3080 or more ?
