    To give the IC chamber some credit. They did their best, their biggest problem is that WWE doesn't do well with improv so they weren't prepared or knew what to do in a situation like that (especially the guys who didn't have indie experience). I'll never understand why they didn't just work Hunter's injury into the match. Have Evolution and Goldberg come face to face backstage, Goldberg says something about Ric Flair who gets so pissed that he throws his drink in Billy-boy's face, and Goldberg spears Flair out of his shoes and into Triple H, who takes an awkward fall, tearing his groin
    That way, when Trips loses, he doesn't look weak because everyone knows he was hurt already and Jackhammer Jerry can look strong by winning the match and the title

    • @billywitchdocter
      @billywitchdocter Рік тому +13

      It's because WWE had just started doing separate brand PPVs at the time, Unforgiven 2003 was the second ever Raw brand PPV and they needed a big match for it, and since the money is more in the chase, they felt that it was a better business decision to have Goldberg beat HHH for the belt there instead.
      Which, btw, worked. The show was a massive success from a buyrate perspective. But nobody EVER wants to bring that up, because they are still complaining that Goldberg got buried...because apparently the guy who concusses himself on doors could NEVER be pinned from running headfirst into a sledgehammer.

      With someone running creative that understands the art of long-term storytelling and 2 full rosters of wrestlers (the majority of which are underutilized) to work with, I can see the good in going to a "big 6" PPV calendar with both brands, and splitting the other 6 shows between Raw and SmackDown to give time to develop proper mid-card and lower-card feuds (one of the forgotten things about the Attitude Era is that the roster top to bottom was engaging with the crowds because they spread out the work load across the card and everyone had at least something to do) with the space for a proper PPV blow-off for those down the card.
      You want to build stars, give the guys lower down the opportunity to show they can connect with the crowd and run with them from there when they do.

Not only Rollins, Riddle and AJ were booked to look like total jobbers, but also the way they took the championship from Lashley was poorly executed. Honestly it would make less sense for Sasha and Bayley to implode after taking out Alexa at the end (someone has to win so it would just come down to "we got here together so may the best woman win" and not betrayal to create an actual heel turn).
    What would work best here is to have Sasha enter third (since Bayley started) but she and Bayley don't truly start teaming up until the fourth entry. At this point they begin collectively working to eliminate opponents together to hedge their opportunity later. Alexa enters fifth but is eliminated fourth by the collective efforts of Sasha and Bayley, so there are three women left at the end (with Mickie remaining the final entrant) and guaranteeing a new champion but with three women remaining THEN Sasha pulls the trigger on the turn and eliminates both Mickie and Bayley to become Women's Champion. This way you have an actual betrayal (Bayley thought they were going to be a team to the end then fight it out to decide the champion but Sasha takes advantage of this ignorance and takes her out while her guard is down, believing then proving she is capable of going the rest of the distance on her own).
    Alternatively having Bayley perform the fourth elimination but Sasha using the opportunity to steal victory by going for the Banks Statement immediately after the pin for a fast final elimination could also work so Bayley couldn't properly ready herself for the final two.

I mean all that already happen before and it was accepted, why don't do it then??

    The worst one? Exposed the top talent's lack of improv skills. Henry going in was the right call, but the talent needed to just go with it and create a good match thinking on their feet. They plan the match out too much so it doesn't really feel exciting to me.

    I can explain the Summer Slam 2003 finish.
    WWE had JUST started doing single branded PPVs at the time, and Unforgiven, their second Raw brand PPV, was the next show, and they felt Goldberg chasing HHH would make more money than Goldberg defending the belt against HHH.
    The PPV was actually a huge success business-wise, which I honestly think proves your wrong about this.
    Also, Goldberg ran headfirst into a sledgehammer. This is a dude that concusses himself on doors, running headfirst into a sledgehammer absolutely WOULD KO him.

    Glad to see I'm not the only one who took issue with that first Chamber match for the Women, everything was perfect for Sasha and Bayley to set up their feud at Mania and all they had to do was get rid of their biggest enemy at the time in story Alexa and instead of doing that and getting her out they have Sasha break up her and Bayley's alliance early before you can even say you're guaranteed a new champion like it made absolutely no sense especially given the fact Alexa made both Bayley's and Sasha's lives hell on Raw most of 2017. WWE in the end should've went with Sasha and Bayley beating down with Bayley pinning her only then after she's pinned Sasha kicks Bayley and to set up an underdog moment for Bayley since she started off one of the first women in the chamber, beat Sasha, have Sasha sitting outside the chamber upset like in the actual match, and have Bayley cut the same promo as Alexa before it got heelish and then have Sasha come in and attack Bayley putting her in the Bank Statement without letting go setting up the feud and match for Mania, would've been so much better.

    • @thefootballfan2607
      @thefootballfan2607 Рік тому

      No,lol...Until the moment in which Sasha attacked Bayley, everything in that match was right...They could've had Sasha eliminating Bayley after the betrayal with a brutal attack,then after the heel turn would've been executed,she would've defeated Alexa and then Alexa could've been involved in non title feuds while Bayley would've dethroned Sasha at SummerSlam...There isn't any way of having "underdog" promo becoming a heelish promo or for the attack after the match....

    I mean on paper a chamber match filled with weapons sounds fun and could lead to some good spots, it’s just that the big dub gat the execution very very wrong. The weapons should have been in the spaces between the pods so you can have fun weapon spots from the start and have someone actually go through a table. (For the love of god if a hardcore match has a table and no one goes through it you know you did a bad job)

    Definitely, the Elimination Chamber match will be worst if a "Mid-Card" title will put on the line.
    -EC in 2015 put the Intercontinental Title on the line (which is the #1 on this list)
    -December to Dismember have the ECW Championship (Yes, I considered that a Mid-Card Title. lol)
    Fast forward to 2023, and WWE is doing it again now for the United States Championship, which is God-awful worst with how the booking has been in the past months.
