- The Nifeliz Big Boy is based off of the real-world Union Pacific Big Boy train, made from 1941 to 1944. Only 25 were made, and only a handful exist to this day. Big Boy is notable for being the largest and most powerful operating steam engine in the world.

This was my second, 3rd party Lego kit, both seem to have been designed to have electric motors in them. Probably not included to lower price.
It is interesting how the versions have changed, I purchased mine over a year ago and on it the gears link the wheels together so they all move together. But, the gears in the body don't do anything. I can say they were a bad idea since they make the wheels to stiff to move smoothly. Best guess was they had big ideas to motorize the train and then realized they couldn't make it work. They also updated the driving rods to be closer to the real engine.
i have a question to you collectionDX when you build this train did you find out how the wheel are getting connected with the pins all so all wheels moving or is it as i have it some are not connected at all? Btw it took me 20hours to assemble this train with wagon. No idea if that is a good time but I glued all pieces together except those what shall move and be flexible. How long did it take for you CollectionDX? I enjoyed the time building it.Was my very first train ever to assemble. Unknown why lego train is so expensive? I paid 95$ plus taxes for this train and lego train is 270$.What I notice on my parts there were all those circles here and there a bit not filled out 100%.Also I have a few pieces left over.Guessing those are spare pieces. Good to know that there are some other companies what are producing also great content.
I have one myself too.. it took me 4 days to build why? Was worrying about if all the pieces were there.. I've never built anything that's not Lego related .. and I've never built a train this massive before so everything was all new to me .. the train itself definitely exceeded my expectations
Glad you liked it!
I tend to spread mine out, doing a little each night. I got mine 1/28, and it's 2/9, I have the tracks and the body of the locomotive done, lol.
I know how to make the big boy go around the bend
Have been on the fence about trying out a non Lego brick product, I would say by watching this video you definitely get what you pay for, seems to definitely lack the quality of Lego products
Am I the only one that makes my missing pieces or is this just part of the build experience?
The cab isn’t as accurate as I would have hoped but oh well
Hey just wondering if this is motor compatible? I love this train and I really want to see it going around my tracks. :)
Sorry, I don't know. There are gears that go nowhere inside of the train, so I am sure it is possible with modification, but I don't think there is any official way to convert it.
Ok. Thanks 👍
you might be able to motorize the tender and have the tender push-pull the locomotive
Do you know of any train like this one that might be motor compatible to build a track around it?
It is but needs a ton of rework
I don't get the numbering on the bags. What am I missing? Thanks.
The bags have a very faint printed number on them, with the last digits having a dash between them. For example 12345.001-049 - that means this bag is used for steps 1-49
@@CollectionDX But they also have bags numbered, for example, 172-209, which is how it's shown on the pages of the manual. I just opened all the bags, and so far it's almost finished. Thanks.
can the train go on real lego tracks?
I believe so
What scale is that? HO, O, etc.
It's L scale, which is Lego scale, but it's very close to O scale. L is 1:40, O is 1:48
I built it but the front rack of wheels keep bocking
This model is a ripp off of a free to download model on UA-cam. Its at least 8 to 9 years old and Mold King and many others ripped it off and made it even worse...The colors of the boiler, the horrible driving rods that dont work, the cab is all wrong, the tender only gets one ladder on one side (the Mold King model at least didn't have that) tender does not have articulate wheels. The base model is ok to improve upon...And thats what I did. But just as is...its crap
