Are you kidding? This question was ridiculously easy, and you dont need to have been to Ikea to get the answer. If he was as smart as he said he was, he could have easily used logic, common sense and the process of elimination. Taking selfies in Kitchens? Ok, with that, we could easily surmise that it would be bizarre for that to fit with any of the country answers. Most people know Ikea sells furniture. So the "multiple kitchens" and taking pictures in them fits perfectly into a scenario at an Ikea store. The only hard part of the qeustion, and the part meant to trip you up, would be the meatballs. For me, ive never been to Ikea, but I would safely assume that meatballs are sold there, because again. The kitchen part of the question doesn't logically fit with any of the other answers. So they obviously MUST sell meatballs in Ikea. Thing is though. he KNEW THEY DID! Which is why he failed fairly, by getting the EASIEST part of the question wrong.
They have begun selling meatballs after they opened an IKEA restaurant. It's one of the few places in Czech republic you can eat well, but it's not the cheapest choice.
If you think about the question logically, three of the answers are _cities_ and one is a store. If the answer were any of the cities, that would presume that the city would have publicly accessible kitchen displays where a person _could_ take a selfie. Surely, private individuals, especially those with kitchens "fancy" enough that most people couldn't afford them, wouldn't allow "tourists" into their kitchens (or, houses in general) for the mere purpose of taking a selfie. The only _logical_ answer is the one _store_ on the list, a place that commonly _does_ have various room displays open to the public. Same could be said of Lowes, Home Depot, etc., especially when it comes to kitchens.
But he knew that Ikea sold meatballs. Like, it's the only answer that made sense among that selection, but he talked himself out of it, while arbitrarily guessing "Rome".

It was a pretty basic question. His logic does not make any sense. Why Paris, London or Rome, anythree of em could be expensive depending on the restaurant. But not IKEA, ikea serves affordable meat balls and every trip to IKEA, you literally have meat balls. I am assuming I never went to IKEA. He effed up big time and must have read the question carefully.
Pharaoh 300 I know some people are stupid , I never read the article and just by simple process of elimination which you learn in grade school I got the answer.

Alan Rowley "Kitchen selfie" is a rather obscure concept. I, for one, have never heard of it. Who knows, maybe people like to take photos with Italian chefs when in Rome. And of course the "meatball break" could easily happen in Rome as well.
The question is essentially "What place is famous for its kitchens and its meatballs". There weren't really that many options to answer it correctly. Ikea sells furnitures, which include kitchens, and their Swedish meatballs are bizarrely popular.
The question is not about buzzfeed... its about Ikea, Buzzfeed is just a source for the quote. You dont need to know a single thing about Buzzfeed to get this question.

"Snapping pictures in kitchens you can't afford and taking a meatball break". TheCommunistTwilight well that just made you sound a bit thick, didn't it. To confidently arrive at the correct answer to this question, two things are required: 1. Knowledge of Ikea. 2. (Some) knowledge of what Buzzfeed is. I've never set foot in Ikea and certainly didn't know it was a restaurant. Even if I did, I still don't know what a 'meatball break' is. I mean, if it's literally what the words suggest, then I'm still lost as to the relevance of this with "twentysomethings". You see? Traditionally, the first question on millionaire requires little to no intellect. And this alone would lead somebody to the "obvious answer" of Rome, since anybody 'with half a brain' knows that meatballs go hand in hand with pasta, pasta is associated with Italy, and Rome is in Italy.
Plus, I thought the whole point of Ikea was cheap furniture. So that would completely throw me as well. As for Buzzfeed, I see it posing as a news source on faceboook from time to time but couldn't give you a single detail about it.
"twentysomething", "in kitchens they can't afford", and "meatball"-- all three of those together should have been the biggest giveaway that it's IKEA. Doesn't excuse from being a ridiculous question though.
well that, and even if you didnt get it from those, the fact that 3 of them are cities and then one that doesnt fit, on he 1st question its always the one that stands out...i mean hell, you dont even have to read the question to know its going to be Ikea.

This was a warm-up question dat was not meant to be taken seriously, esp whenever the word 'Buzzfeed' is included.. I got the answer right btw, becoz Ikea is indeed a place where young people starting on their own place would go to make purchases & they do have wonderful showrooms where selfies are taken & with the added plus of a Swedish meatball break with their own cafetaria or food stall there.. so dat was a no-brainer..but he unluckily used his brains way too early..
I think the problem is that with most of the early Q's in Millionaire you'll purposely get a "joke" answer and he sadly thought that D was the joke answer here. I don't blame the guy, I would've probably used a lifeline here, this isn't a centuries-old idiom that you've seen/heard all your life.
I didnt realise that tourists flock to Rome to admire kitchens. Its pretty obvious the answer is IKEA, perhaps a European would of understood that the Swedish are also associated with meatballs and not just the Italians. Even if it were 50/50 between answers C and D, the kitchen part would of been a giveaway. I guess if you had zero clue about Swedish food and furniture stores then you possibly wouldnt know but to most people this is as basic as asking, "What country is associated with pizza?" Or maybe pasta, you get the idea. The guy either needs to get out more or he got complacent with it being the first question which is often a joke question. Its admirable that people are defending him on the comment section but, it was hardly a trick question.
Fireworks, wrong: Wiki: "In Italy, meatballs (named polpette [polˈpette], sing. polpetta) are generally eaten as a main course or in a soup." YOU desperately added "spaghetti" because you can't accept the fact he provided the most appropriate answer through deductive reasoning.
Meatballs aren't famous in Rome. You won't see anybody eating it. You'd probably have to look very hard to find them. Also just because they have it in Italy doesn't mean it's a common dish. You can find meatballs in France and UK too. But hey, keep reaching. I'm sure if you try hard enough you will eventually think of a good excuse as to why someone would get this easy answer wrong without it being their fault. Lol I don't see why people can't just own up to their own lack of knowledge and common sense.
Fahd Farooq no it was a first question on millionaire. They are always just common sense. The question is where to buy kitchens. There are three countries listed and a furniture store. Where do you buy kitchens A FURNITURE STORE.

TheCommunistTwilight well that just made you sound a bit thick, didn't it.
To confidently arrive at the correct answer to this question, two things are required:

The last answer on the $100 question is usually a gag answer and the host read the last answer in a somewhat humorous way. They tricked him.
I think the problem is that with most of the early Q's in Millionaire you'll purposely get a "joke" answer and he sadly thought that D was the joke answer here. I don't blame the guy, I would've probably used a lifeline here, this isn't a centuries-old idiom that you've seen/heard all your life.
BAI GAMING really, meatballs in Rome? Nothing to do with meatballs. Only in America you Have meatballs in spaghetti😂
If i used all my lifeline, i still wouldn't think it would be IKEA. Would have to walk away. 😁
