Funny, my grandmother (about 40 years ago) always asked me what I was going to do with all those records I bought :) I always told her "If I would be a smoker it's something that only lasts a moment" if I buy a record, it's something that keep you going a lifetime :) And for the record, I still own all the records I bought when I was a kid :)
That was exactly my answer as well 😊 I don't drink alcohol and don't smoke, so I spend all that money on my CD collection which I still own (about 2600 till now)
Been buying CDs since they started and even took out a loan for the first players 83/84 I was 15 yrs young, 8000 + later I love every moment of my library the artist, production, sound, visual, history, personal connection, discovering new artists, supporting new bands by buying material at gigs meeting new people discovering music venues around the world, I could go on, my only concern is on my death as I have no children, but then why worry I've had many years of pleasure and I won't be here 🤘.My name is Jason, Jane is my wife and luckily shares my passion, well nearly 😆
I topped out at 5000 +. After I turned 50 I realized I could Never Give or " Leave" all this to anyone. Nobody wants my collection after I'm gone .... SO I downsized to about 2000.. I feel better after the downsize... I still collect " Box Sets, Collectibles & Deluxe releases. But I don't need every album by everyone anymore. Sometimes we become possessed by our possessions ! I've been there....
That is a fir point too. However, many colectors do listen to everything they own or at least are aware they enjoy xperimenting listening to a vast array of music. Being a completists is something I really can't comprehend. I have had artists I have loved who then have gone down a different track and I haven't liked their new music. In these cases I stopped buying the albums. It seems you have the balance just right but I think Brendon is not possessed rather loves exploring a library - and one needs a library if they are to go exploring. Sorry for my waffle and have a top day.
If you don't sell you donate. No good will is gonna have a problem with that. Hell just will to a flea market. I can tell you with a certainty a ton of collectors will jump at the chance!
I don’t feel justifying why you have 12,000 cds in anyone’s concern. I get called a horder on occasion about my music and guitars, but in the same manner, my place is immaculate and organized. It makes us happy and if people don’t like it, they can go F off. Keep it up..
There is a difference between hoarding and collecting. Brendon is a collector of music. Hoarding is getting almost everything and not knowing what to do with it.
I say the difference between a collector and a hoarder is.....Shelving! I see nice neat shelves here not a spare room stacked willy nilly with boxes of trash.
Exactly. It's nobody's business. I've been to the homes of actual hoarders, and there is a huge difference. You literally cannot walk through a room without climbing over piles of things, and there tends to be rodents and spoiled food everywhere. But even then, I'm tempted to say leave them alone if they are happy. Unless you are a relative concerned about them, or a landlord who is going to need to do a major cleaning job some day. Most collectors, on the other hand, tend to be organized. When I have guests at my house, they usually end up acting like they are at a music museum, looking for their favorite music and asking me to play it when they find it, which I am always happy to do. 🙂 For me, collecting is a joy, not a job. And I kind of hate that there are people out there that only collect because they are speculating on future dollar values. I can't imagine parting with my favorite music. And while I know that streaming is currently capable of solving most peoples' listening needs, with UA-cam it comes with ads, and with all streaming platforms, albums frequently get pulled for licensing issues, so I enjoy having a collection that I can count on always being there for me. Sorry for my little dissertation there. I got carried away because of my strong feelings in the matter.
Brendon, just be Brendon there are worst things you can collect lol. I am in my late 50’s and I still buy CD’s, and vinyl again. I never will understand why people throw out hate for someone doing something they enjoy and it’s legal. I have learn to tune out negative people at my age. You’re just a normal guy that has a love of collecting music. You’re no different then baseball card collectors, car collectors, toy collectors etc you have a love enjoy it to the fullest. I have a ton of cd, vinyl & cassettes not as many as you but just like you I love my collection. Brendon just be Brendon enjoy your life & what you love. Now your buddy Anthony he had issues, JUST JOKING, he’s great, love hearing his opinions as well of yours. As far as channels I watch on UA-cam, you are #1. Even my wife watches you!
On the one hand, I agree: it's nobody's business what he buys or collects, as long as it's ethical and legal. That's for him to decide, and everyone else can go jump in a lake. The only people he might need to justify it to are his loved ones or, if he's a spiritual man, a higher power. But when you make a UA-cam channel about your huge CD collection, you're necessarily inviting all manner of comments and questions, and some of them will be negative. That's the nature of the beast. If you don't want people being negative about your hobby, keep it private.
I have been CD collecting for over 30 years and, while I use Spotify for my day-to-day listening at work, having a library of hand-picked albus gives me immense joy and really helps me feel connected to the music I enjoy. It's not just disposable soundbites on a computer, it's music I have invested in and get to keep.
Just divide 35 years of collecting by 12,000= only 343 per year or less then 7 cds per week. Just by the numbers alone🎉you are doing well containing your musical consumption ❤ Long live “🎉the glam wizard”
well, depending on the cd, the opposite can just be as true. also, this guy is old school and bought a lot of stuff back in the day it seems @@andyc6542
What a collection ! I completely agree with you, everyone should spend their money on what they like without having to suffer the judgment of others in return as long as it does not harm essential expenses like housing, food or health. Great video and good continuity!
Having a huge collection myself my wife always told me that at least you have something to show for your hobby. She said alot of people would spend 200-400 dollars a week or every 2 weeks on booze or whatever and have nothing to show for their money. And she also said at least I know where your are lol
Was going to post the exact same thing you just said. When downloading became a thing so many people would bust my balls “oh why do you still buy CDs?”. These were the same guys going to bars and liquor stores every weekend and drinking and pissing all their money away. I’d tell them “you spend your money on booze, I spend mine on CDs, atleast I have something to show for the money I spend”.
You're a collector! Anyone calling you a horder is insane. You have a beautiful collection. It's organized and the space looks gorgeous! My Top 11 artist I would definitely get all their CDs from are: 1. Allan Holdsworth 2. Pat Metheny 3. Greg Howe 4. Yngwie Malmsteen 5. Dream Theater 6. Steely Dan 7. Symphony X 8. David Bowie 9. Tribal Tech 10. Al di Meola 11. Iron Maiden Cheers 🎉
Hi Brendon, yes, generally people who think this way, are casual music listeners, don't understand the true love of music and collecting. Keep buying yours cd's and stay happy with them.
Well said. Folks like us have 'libraries'...whenever we feel the need to listen to or look at any of our CD's, they are there, nicely organized, ready for us to enjoy. And, for us content creators, they help provide hours and hours of entertainment for our audiences.
Thanks Pete! Also great point about the library of music being used to create content for our channels! That’s actually one of the reasons I started the channel so that there would be another way to explore my collection and share it with others.
If music CDs' are your joy, don't let anyone ever take that from you. They can leave you later on in life, your music collection won't. I think the main issue is that people who aren't collector's just aren't going understand why it is you have so many. However, you really hits the bullseye with your response at 16:36 - 17:19. That is such an awesome response!
Great video! I have around 2000 cds, but I’ve really had about 8,000 overall in my short life of 63 years. Married with children kind of slowed me down in the last 25 years! Keep it going Brendon!
Not sure why anyone would say anything negative about your passion. Even though my taste in music isn't as wide, I still enjoy the information you share about other types of music I'm not into. Don't let people saying things get to you.
To be fair, if you make a bunch of UA-cam videos about your giant CD collection, you're inviting public feedback, good, bad, or ugly. If he didn't want any attention about it, he wouldn't post videos and would just enjoy his music in private.
Not sure why you're talking about people blocking people, but anyway, my point stands: if you're going to show off something about yourself that many would could consider unusual--and having thousands of CDs these days is certainly unusual--and do it on a public Internet forum that explicitly invites comment from strangers, you're going to get all kinds of remarks and questions, including ones you don't like. You need to have a tough skin to be a UA-camr. And as adults, we need to be able to respectfully disagree. And maybe some of his critics are right, after all. (FWIW, I have a huge CD collection, so I certainly understand his impulse to collect!)@@mr.brenman2132
"Shoes, clothes, purses"...for my wife it's books. She's got a lot of books, all for the same reason I have a lot of cd's. Love! We respect one another's "vices". I really relate to your use of streaming. I use it to listen to parts of an album, to decide if I enjoy it enough to buy a physical copy. Top notch video, Brandon. I don't understand people who would find fault with someone who loves music. They are missing something so vital to the human experience.
Long-time streamer headed towards much more physical media. I recently bought a 2009 Toyota Tacoma from my grandfather in law. It has a CD player. I forgot how nice it is to turn your ignition and instantly have one of your favorites playing.
I bought a Toyota Vitz that has a CD player. Lol I had no choice but to venture to the mall to purchase CD’s for the first time in years. I bought everything they had from 21 pilots. It will be sad to part with them when I upgrade my vehicle
Brendon I am glad you are not a hoarder and I knew you are not one anyway lol!!! I love music too and I was afraid of CDs at first but in 2005 my former boss gave me a CD player for my birthday so I began buying CDs and DVDs and I love them so keep it up!!!
Brendon, Great video! I recently bought the debut CD from Japanese metal band E-Z-O (produced by Gene Simmons) for $100 even though I had it digitally and I have zero regrets! My kids recently moved out and I've spent a bunch completing my collection of various bands like Saxon, U.D.O and Overkill...not to mention Alice and Uncle Ted. My wife asks my why but I cite the very reason that you did. Also there is something about popping in a CD to play through fully from start to finish that is relaxing. Thanks again.
I can relate with you 1000%. Around the same age, got the bug from my older sister and her first Michael Jackson and Eurythmics albums, glam metal was my thing as a teenager, my first Vinyl was Foreigner Agent Provocateur and first CD was Apetite for Destruction. By early 2000s i had around 3,000 CDs, 700 Vinyls and 100 cassettes, already expanding my musical tastes from Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, several forms of Rock from 60s garage/psychedelia to Metal. Around that time and due to constant job relocations i had to slow down a bit but now that i am back to a steady place, i have resurfaced my full collection, reinstalled my sound system and enjoying every bit of it. I am not investing that much anymore but thanks to streaming i am constantly looking for good music and selectively go out to buy new records. Younger generation will not understand the connection with physical media, the images, smell, the process of putting on a record and sitting for 40 minutes listening to a full album while reading the material. Now at 51 i still gather with my high school buddies, visiting record stores and gong to concerts. And this will go on as long as possible…
Why not? You love music and variety! Thanks for sharing and defining why you purchased 12,000 cds! I’m close to 2k and I will continue to collect! Keep on collecting!✌🏽
@@sunkintreeWell no, a passion for music should not depend on what you own and spend, my one is bigger than yours type mentality Very much a guy thing.
When I got a little over 8K cd's, I began to rip them. It took me about 15 years, but I ripped everything. Most of it to FLAC and some to AAC at 256kbps. Backed everything up to 2 drives and created a PLEX server. I sold or gave away all but about 200, which are collectible or that I want to pass along to my son. I love having everything right there. I can play in my car, on my TV, on bluetooth speakers. Or plug up to my rack system and play from an old phone. My collection comes with me on vacation, and to the gym and on long rides, etc. It's the best of both worlds, and I don't have a house full of stuff that somebody will have to physically discard when I am no longer here.
Someone can collect and have 10.000 pepsi bottles...I don't care and I certainly don't judge...if it makes him happy...fine I'm happy for him...i'm 51 ,got 4000 cd...and I don't care how my neighbours ...society see me...music gives joy...makes you feel less alone...helps through sad times...more than fake friends...to me it's a blessing to love it and search for it again and again....people I see weird in a toxic way are often those ...called...'normal'....I feel in a safer place talking to people full of life... passion...for something...
Kiss Alive was the first 8 Track tape that I ever bought when I was a teen. Now I’m 61 and I still have the tape, but I no longer have an 8 Track player. If I did I bet it would still play.
I need my music library because I truly don't watch TV, movies and I don't do Facebook or anything like it. I only watch UA-cam videos and they all pertain to music. I consider my collection Art.
I’m with ya man. I’m a music lover, I can go in multiple directions based on my mood. I was born in the early 80’s and have been buying cd’s for most of my life, and I still buy them! There is something to be said about actually owning the music and having the artwork and all of that! Also, having a large collection, it is fun to browse through and pick out something I haven’t listened to in a while! Cheers
Yeah nothing against records but I love cds 💿 more ima keep buying them and selling them until I die Better sound quality u own the music and suppoort the artist 💿💿💿💿😂🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙 physical wayyyyy better than streaming 😊
Don't have nearly as many as you do, Brendon however always like to have what I want to listen to when I want to. And with over 6K+ cds in my collection STILL have a plethora of music that need to get. Right on, brother and be you.
Why justify yourself? It's your money, your taste in music and your life. It is what makes you happy! So no one else has to have a oppinion about it. And your collection is well organized as well!
I have more art books than a lot of public libraries. I have enough art supplies to start a small store. I have thousands of albums myself although not nearly as many as you and I can truthfully say is all that's held me back from more is money, or rather the lack of it. Art and music have been the staples of my life my life. Enjoyment in these things and the enriching value they bring to one's life is what makes life worth living. This is true of any collection that brings personal satisfaction.
Brought back good memories. Going out as kid and spending your money on music you loved, Def Leppard Adrenalize, Keep the Faith, and Steve Vai , Passion and Warfare were my first in the 90's.
Hi from the UK! Great collection there, very envious. For me it’s vinyl and I have around 3,500 and each record holds a memory… keep up the collecting buddy
When I was a teenager my mother complained that I bought too many albums and 45s, I told her I could buy drugs instead like some other people, she never complained again after when I went on my monthly trip to downtown Toronto to hit all the record stores.
I know we don’t need to tell you, but don’t listen to any of those people that criticize your hobby and passion. I love your videos, hearing about your collection, and it consistently inspires me to listen to all the music I have and pick up more! Like you, I’m a CD collector too. Keep it up!
I've got 800+ CDs just of classical music alone. Maybe a 100 of other music styles. Nothing like physical media (which you can always rip for backup purposes).
Hi Brendon... What an amazing collection. I love physical media. There is nothing like pulling out an original and listening to it on a stereo. With so many people going to streaming the physical media is so incredibly inexpensive as people are selling it. I have just finished completing my collection as I now have absolutely everything I have ever wanted. Disregard any negative comments to you and just enjoy what makes you happy.
I Agree with everything you said. I probably have a little bit more than half of what you do. A lot of mine came from working at record stores, back in the days of promos, but have purchased a lot also. It's always a thrill going to purchase and have never been able to buy just one or two. At least five, but usually more.
That's a good point, some of the best music I discovered didn't immediately click with me, it was weird and eclectic, an acquired taste. Perhaps this is the element that we're missing today, everything is fast consumption, easy access. In the past you had to struggle to get to some stuff, and you appreciated it more because of it.
It is never a waste to buy music that you love and support the artists you love. After a long day from work, it is nice to put on a CD or vinyl album of our collections and be immersed in the music.
I probably only have around 1,000-1,500 but still quite a few. I like having what I want, when I want it right there available in an instant. On my team at work, I am the oldest team member (51) by a country mile, lol. The average age of my teammates is probably in the mid-twenties. Most of them joke with me about owning CDs but in a fun, playful way. None of them own physical content, they stream. To each their own!
Streaming is much more convenient, but I'm all for physical media. I have quite a few Blu rays and also still prefer holding a hard cover book.Streaming is much more convenient, but I'm all for physical media. I have quite a few Blu rays and also still prefer holding a hard cover book.
It's all about what you like. I love CDs also. I don't have as many as you (somewhere between 800 and 1000), but I LOVE my CDs. I've been slowly getting rid of books, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassettes, records, sports memorabilia and other things that I still ENJOY, but don't see the need to own. I just don't love them as much as my CDs.
Cool video! I have a much smaller collection…around 300 CDs. I think we’re around the same age and I have a similar story. My first albums were Pyromania and Out of the Cellar. The first albums I purchased were AFD, Whitesnake and Hysteria (all 1987).
I love it. I have been buying music since the late 70's. I don't have as many as you but have over 1,000 vinyl. I bought my first cd in the early 90's when I couldn't find the album on vinyl and have almost 8,000 of those. I love having it, the artwork and the lyric, liner notes booklets.

In total i have 979 CD's, Vinyl, Cassettes. However soon i'm getting rid of 7 cd's in my collection b/c they were given to me for free but i don't like any of them. I doubt i'll surpass 1,100 albums, I'm in my late 40's and getting more pickier every year & some of my favorite bands have broken up so there's less new albums to buy.
I only have a little over 1,000 CDs and get a hard time from folks. I, like you, don’t have any other vices. I don’t drink or do drugs. Never been into guns or other things people like to collect but have always been big into music. There is just something about finding this far one at a used store or opening that brand new one when an artist drops a new albums. Keep that collection growing and I’ll look forward to seeing a vid of you describing why you have a collection of 13,000 next year
I've amassed about a 2,000 disc collection over the years myself (and in the last 5 years went back and started collecting vinyl again). And I went through a period where I started selling a lot of stuff off, too, in the mid-2000's when digital took over - a lot of which I've begun to re-buy in a measured fashion. And I've begun buying stuff, that I only had on digital for years and years. But I still really love the convenience of streaming. I've ripped my entire collection to FLAC and stream it through Plex whenever I want. My collection is mostly original masterings as newer masterings tend to sound really bad. But it's really the best of both worlds. When I'm home, I'll play the discs whenever possible but when I'm out and about, Plex turns my collection into my own private streaming service.
Just bought a 2020 Toyota Corolla that does not have a CD player. It has streaming capabilities so at first I was really bummed but once I got used to it , as you said , best of both worlds. I no longer have to worry about scratching my CDs from keeping them in the car.
Well explained Brendan. It’s definitely not hoarding my collection is an important part of me . Its all in order and looked off by me . The art work was very important to me remember getting out of the blue by elo I couldnt stop looking at it and it suited the music . When i watch your videos i never think he sounds out of control you don’t buy 10 twenty copies of same cd . I know someone who was a hoarder with his vinyl he would go to same store and buy all the tge copies of one particular artist amd kept them all sealed and never played. I would go along on a Friday to this particular store if i left it too late all the copies of an new release i wanted they would sell to him . He passed away a few years ago and his complete collection got auctioned off 10 and 20 copies of each album sealed were all sold for next to nothing now he was a hoarder as it was mental heath issue. So it was sad . But i love getting new albums and discovering new artists. Take care joe
Your collection is amazing and well organized. Some albums are not available to stream. Plus, often the streaming alters the album from the original recording. A person also does not get the artwork on the record.
I am mostly a vinyl guy, but I also own a large collection of CDs as well. I have long given up on making people understand. All I know is, a download is not tangible; some of these remasters sound crummy and that includes stuff put on vinyl too. Some of my best sounding cds are from the early days before the compression wars started. The example I can think of is my Led Zep Houses of The Holy from the mid 80s; I think it runs all over the Led Zep studio box set from 1993 for the same album. Bro if you were a hoarder, we would not be able to see the carpet behind you. I think you have a very well curated collection. Enjoy your tunes, screw what others think. I spotted your original Pink Floyd Pulse on the shelf ;-). Love that one.
I say the difference between a collector and a hoarder is.....Shelving! I see nice neat shelves here not a spare room stacked willy nilly with boxes of trash.
I had 300 CDs, all of those were well thought out. Loved that period of 10 years, unplugging from the world and turning on the stereo (which was the centre point of the room) All gone now, and now time vaporises.
Hi Brendon. The only issues with amassing 12,000 CD's is only having 2 ears and listening to them one at a time. Great collection, right in my wheelhouse and I always enjoy your videos. Here's to the next 12,000+
Hey Brendon - love your collection. For the record here is the definition of a hoarder, just in case someone happens to read this post. Quote - A hoarding disorder is where someone acquires an excessive number of items and stores them in a chaotic manner, usually resulting in unmanageable amounts of clutter. The items can be of little or no monetary value. - unquote. END of story !! Keep on Rockin. Cheers Doug
Brenden, you are not a hoarder!! Your library is immaculate, clearly each cd is there for a purpose. Anyone who uses their time and energy to knock you for being passionate and loving music should #$%@ off
We must be long lost brothers! I don’t have nearly the collection of cds or vinyl that you have, but your reasoning is exactly what I say. I tell my wife at least I have something to show for my money spent.
With the amount of bands and genres out there it is impossible to own only 300 albums. Especially when a lot have multiple albums, like you said. People are tripping if they believe that going minimum is best.
For me, the other thing that made my music collection grow which isn’t anywhere near this impressive amount of cds, is some of the bands that were formed in the 1980’s up to present day, they all state their influences in interviews etc, so then I check them out, and some of those artists have now been added to my collection, so it has been another way to explore some genres or artists that I might have ignored. For me I don’t listen to radio anymore here in the UK, so I discover some artists through festival posters or if a band I like is touring then I can check out supporting bands before the gig!
Great video Brendon…keep it going! You’re a good source for finding off the cuff stuff. It builds my streaming collection lol, but enhances my car rides to work nonetheless
First, your collection looks awesome, and music has no exception! I have around 1000 cd's, about 100 records and who knows how many cassette tapes. For me, it stopped with digital around the mid 2000s but man, nothing beats opening up a record and checking out the artwork and lyrics. I think us older guys have more nostalgia for going into a record store and digging into something that grabs our attention. Mostly from the artwork and word of mouth. The metal genre is doing great stuff with physical media nowadays.
I started collecting CDS in 2017 and have over 500. I have listened to all of them. I enjoy collecting cds. I do have my favorites that I listen to alot. Your collection of 11000 cds is very impressive. If you enjoy doing something like than by all means keep it up.
As always, another really fun episode. My wife teases me for having over 1500 CDs- I must show her this. That said, agreed on all points and, of course, the best reason of all for building a music library- IT’S FUN!
I have over a thousand....haven't counted in years to get an accurate number, but your reasonings for collecting are the same as mine. I aspire to catch up to you one day though! Keep on collecting!
Keep it up Brendon you have an amazing collection! Your chanel is interesting to follow. Plus your knowledge and info is very interesting always enjoying your uploads.
I remember growing up and wanting to have a huge tape/CD collection, but alot has happened since then and music is so much more accessible since then. I think its fine to have thousands if you have a succession plan, don't die and this just becomes something your family has no idea what to do with - maybe morbid but true.
I’ve a large CD collection too and vinyl as I’ve been collecting since 1985. No I also own 3 Sony portable CD players. They were known as “Discman” right! Now if there’s a power outage or the internet goes down, as long as I’ve a supply of AA batteries I’ll be rocking and the streamers will be crying the night away without music!
Oh, that has happened! There are several albums I sold off and in later years suddenly felt like giving them another chance only to find I no longer had them!
Hey Brandon, great video as always, I was wondering, have you heard of the band "Disturbed" there metal, but they have a melodic side on albums past their debut cd "the sickness. I recommend to listen too the CDs"Believe" "10 Thousand Fists" "Indestructible" and "Asylum" you won't be disappointed, 10 thousand fists is my all time favorite CD.
I relate totally to this. I am almost 50 and have a fairly large CD collection, not as many as 12,000(I think). I started collecting in the early 1990s and I am very much a completist if I like an artist. I don't tend to stream much, partly because I have downloaded or ripped most of the albums onto a hard drive and I tend to play them from there. I like the fact I have a physical copy for a few reasons. 1) A this time so many albums are being rereleased but often with things like autotune being used, these versions get streamed not the originals. 2) Artwork and lyrics it is great to have copies of both. 3) I have many smaller artists in the collection, they are often not on streaming platforms 4) I can often buy secondhand versions cheaper than the downloads are. I confess at 50 I may not ever get to play everything I own again, however not one album I own has never been played and I am hopeful I will enjoy the collection in the future as much as I have done in the past.
great collection man..keep on rockin! all of the negative comments are just hatin man, everyone collects something whether it be clothing, shoes, games, books, mugs etc..also finding like-minded people helps
I agree 100% we all have hobbies and things we like. Owning your music is a pleasure. Physical media can't be beat to hold a CD in your hands while you play it looking at the songs. The year it was released, who playing the instruments. I have over 11,000 CD's myself. I enjoy taking one down and listening to it.
Twenty years from now CD's may be just as sought after as old vinyl is today, commanding top dollar for the clean, rare examples... Collect away Brendon!!!!
I can see that happening. Cassettes are slowly taking off and I've sold some of mine for £10. Lots of lesser know artists CDs already fetch 30 - 40. Not ones you ever see on second hand stores.
I’m guessing I have in the neighborhood for 6000 CD’s. It sometimes feels like a burden, especially since I have no children to pass them on to, but I love music. Even trying to pare down my collection sounds like a chore or a losing proposition-and I would never throw CD’s away even if I don’t like some of them. My wife, on the other hand, would love to throw them away. IDK…it’s a quandary. I enjoyed your video. Keep on rockin’!
I don’t feel guilty about having as many CDs that I have which isn’t as many as you have…. But I do have a lot! My problem is having the time to enjoy my music whenever I want to! Thanks for sharing your collection with us!😊
The comments who have said you can't possibly listen to them all, well it's definitely possible because my collection is similar in size and In 2023 i decided to play them all in order of original release. I started in may with the Beatles - Please Please Me from 1963 and then ended it on halloween night when i played OMD - Bauhaus Staircase from 2023. So i listened to 60 years of music in 6 months. It was an exhausting but glorious ride. Can't wait to do it again, lol.
I have a big collection of CDs myself, and I love to listen to albums in their entirety. I have about 6,000 CDs. I think it would be way more if I was as dedicated as you are with getting live versions or a whole band’s discography. That’s impressive.
I've got a much smaller 1,500 CD collection but I'm totally with you with regard to owning and appreciating artists full catalog. I actually tried to use streaming for a while but I found out that I actually listened to less music. On streaming you don't have "a collection", a group of albums you know you like or have a history with. So when you want to pick out an album to listen to, you either go with something that is top of mind (e.g. Dark Side of the Moon, Hysteria) or you let the algorithm guide you. The algorithm is useless so I just ended up listening to the same albums. When I got back to using my collection I remembered all those albums I like and were just never top of mind. I know you can have a collection on a streaming service but it's a lot of work to set it up for something that I will loose when I change streaming service or that service gets shut down.
You make complete sense. My wife and I only have 4,000 CDs, but -- like you -- they reflect our eclectic taste. Don't worry about what the non-audiophiles say. Considering how many albums an artist might have, and considering the vast number of artists my wife and I enjoy, I suspect our collection would not be near complete until we obtained over 200,000 CDs. Since we are old, and not rich, that will never happen, but it's fun trying!
The fact that you're able to pull out any random album and tell a story about it, shows that it is indeed a library that is well taken care of.

Amazing!
Your wife and you are badass
I still buy cds 💿
Hi Brendon, I got 800+ CD's and only need a few more, I'm 58 and been collecting from 86. With this amount I'm happy to say I'm completely happy 😁
I topped out at 5000 +. After I turned 50 I realized I could Never Give or " Leave" all this to anyone. Nobody wants my collection after I'm gone

@@snörre23 Sold some, gave some away. Giving away 100 CDs is easy . Giving Away 1000 is Not easy..
Great collection. Everybody needs their thing to collect. Love it. I understand and respect the passion for it.
I don’t feel justifying why you have 12,000 cds in anyone’s concern. I get called a horder on occasion about my music and guitars, but in the same manner, my place is immaculate and organized. It makes us happy and if people don’t like it, they can go F off. Keep it up..
It's a disease!😀Why should I buy it if I'm not going to listen to it anyway.---😀
There is a difference between hoarding and collecting. Brendon is a collector of music. Hoarding is getting almost everything and not knowing what to do with it.
He doesn't need to justify anything, but doing so gets views. I'm assuming his channel is monetized
Because some people are envy.

That's a good point, some of the best music I discovered didn't immediately click with me, it was weird and eclectic, an acquired taste.
My favorite thing about CDs is you can listen to them and no one else knows about it.
I had 300 CDs, all of those were well thought out. Loved that period of 10 years, unplugging from the world and turning on the stereo (which was the centre point of the room)
All gone now, and now time vaporises.
God bless all the ratt n rollers! Jesus saves!
Hi Brendon. The only issues with amassing 12,000 CD's is only having 2 ears and listening to them one at a time. Great collection, right in my wheelhouse and I always enjoy your videos. Here's to the next 12,000+
@@neshod6415 ever think you could be wrong?
Must've been a Magpie in a previous life 😂
@@neshod6415And? It's at least there whenever he wants to hear it.
Cheers
Doug
I love how you still collect CDs and not moved to other formats - me too! I love my rock but also love Duran Duran and INXS.
Same here ima never support streaming is garbage 🤮🤮🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢ima keep buying cds cause I love owning my music and having a cd collection my bookshelves 😅
As an avid collector too, I can't see why we should have to justify ourselves. We enjoy what we enjoy.
I started collecting CDS in 2017 and have over 500. I have listened to all of them. I enjoy collecting cds. I do have my favorites that I listen to alot. Your collection of 11000 cds is very impressive. If you enjoy doing something like than by all means keep it up.
You bet I will!
No subscriptions, and if the internet goes down you’re still rocking out.
👍
Your points are spot on. Plus, it's just fun!!
I need more Bowie 👍❤ think people are jealous of your amazing collection 🤔I've given so much away to friends or charity and regret it
Thank You for sharing. Always interesting to hear Your topics. I fully agree on every point.
3) I have many smaller artists in the collection, they are often not on streaming platforms
4) I can often buy secondhand versions cheaper than the downloads are.
His positivity and upbeat-ness is infectious. I just wish I had the same amount of space to store all my CDs. Maybe one day.
CDs have become more popular in the 2-4 years and there are lots of CDs that are now as expensive as vinyl to buy.
Great to see that there are other collectors as well. I have a CD library of 2600+. 12.000 is absolutly impressive 💪👍
Thanks Von! Yes we are out here! You are not alone 👍
Don’t listen to the haters. Love your collection, brother. As you know…I’m in the same boat.
