One of the better reviews that I have seen on these two camcorders. You have sealed the deal for me. The Canon is a little more expensive but worth the money from what I can see thanks for the review.

You are very easy to understand and points are well taken. I bought the Canon R500 and find it to be the best yet, Follow focus is excellent. High Def is unbelievable. Small and light weight, great battery life. The Canon is surely on par if not better then my Nikon D7100. Quite steady zoom smooth anti-shake. Tampatech is a great info channel to follow, learn and get a good clear new prospective on DIY. Paul, I can't thank you enough. Steve Golecki~
how do you mount it on a tripod? I didn't see an attachement on the bottom

My decision is down to these two cameras. I am going for the Canon, this review has me sold, not to mention the fact that it comes with a jack for external microphones. Going to get this.

The external microphone jack is a definite plus. The Samsung is a good beginner's camera, but it is sorely lacking on a few things.
Where is the picture/photo button to take pics during(or any time I think) video on the canon r500

The Canon costs around $250 while the Samsung is more like $120. Of course the Canon has better features. Not comparable imo.
so i film fireworks, right now im using a GoPro Hero 2. needing to know if i should go with the R500 or R600? good comparison video.

Nice video, thanx. Although canon is better at night,as it can be seen in the last few minutes of your video, i can't help but prefer the samsung for its colours at night. But only the colours, anywhere else i think canon triumphs
Samsung is a good deal at $120 it did last me 2 years and I used the hell out of that pause record button which canon failed to include, both are good value cams.

great video im buying the cannon after this comment i make videos about so many different things 1 day it will be cooking next day it will be a knife review next day a survival tip then a food review this camera looks great and is pretty cheap and will stop me from blowing 900$ on a cannon rebel lmfao i literally been watching videos for hours and urs is the best most people either just showed a demo of the camera or just talked about it u did both lol and i can tell u know how to properly use the settings and render the video right alot of videos i watched just seemed like if they rendered the video correct it look better

How the mighty have fallen. Samsung used to make some relatively high-end consumer camcorders. The F90, capable of only 720p@30fps, is decidedly low end and yet it's currently the only camcorder model Samsung offers in North America (and only in white, LOL). Well, at least it is inexpensive.
i want to use one of these just to do a facecam to have the best quality of putting it on my videos not to close but just enough for me being in the corner. Would the F90 be good enough i have lights to brighten myself up and im in front of a green screen
My friends and I are filming short films for youtube but all we have used are kodak cameras put onto video mode and my friends lets us use his go pro for action scenes. my dad said that he won't pay any more than $250 on a camera so is the samsung a good purchase?? Tampatec please respond! thx
If he doesn't, the samsung was okay for back when it first came out but if you want a better camera for less that that samsung HMX-w200/w300 is a pretty good purchase

My samsung cam was good to me for over 2 years and lasted way longer than my sony cam that quit on me. Samsung is good value but many youtubers tend to use canon cams so I caved in.

Yep. I put the R400 up against the F90. The Samsung is a piece of junk that doesn't deserve to be called a camcorder lol Jello picture. Noisey zoom mechanism. Ironically it has a huge button that turns the LCD GUI off. That's the one thing the Canon's need. I couldn't live with the clutter. Took it back. Otherwise I would've kept the Canon. I tried a 500 a year later to the same end. I get to borrow my friend's Canon G20 soon.
THE COST DIFFERENCE IS SO BIG THE CANON DOESN'T CUT IT
finnaly i know my problem is my camcorder as i have the samsung.
I have the Samsung one. I can't stand it. It's really loud and has crappy focus. I've had it for a year and a half and really want to upgrade.
Try the Nikon Coolpix L840, it's great for starters and has really good quality. But focus is a little hard. Hope this helps.

Yes, More pro youtubers use canon over samsung but pause record is very handy just wish it was 1080 resolution like the Canon.
