The Samsung HMX-F90 is a small camcorder that was released in February of 2013, and records in 1280X720 @ 30FPS (or 640X480 @ 60 FPS). Like many Samsung camcorders, it features a pause button and time lapse recording.
I would recommend this camcorder if you want a cheap time lapse camera.
PROS:
Lighweight and small.
Time Lapse recording.
Pause button.
Easy to operate menu.
CONS:
Microphone quality is only okay.
Plastic is somewhat cheap.
Digital zoom is terrible.
Not very high quality video recording.

I have 2 of these camcorders! They are so easy to operate and are lightweight and take great pictures and videos. It is too bad that they discontinued this camcorder! Absolutely awesome camcorder!

Just ran across this -- thanks! Now I know how to use the damn thing -- bought it a long time ago. Hey man can I ask you something? I see you had a breadboard with an LED on it and I've been wanting to "try" and capture some led's that are on and flashing (slowly) but cameras and a camcorder don't give the greatest image. Shows the "hot spot" on the led etc. What settings on the camcorder would you suggest I try? I'd like the red led's to be as red as possible -- plus better accuracy with some other colors. --- thanks for this video very useful !
edit -- oh yeah, how do you pause with this? I want torecord and pause so the recording ends up as one file. can I do that ?
Can you please explain how to upload videos to UA-cam in Sumsung HMX-F90.... They wrote that one touch sharing button...please
There's a chance I may be *heavily* mistaken on this, but I think UA-cam's changed their API since then. Therefore, uploading videos from older cameras like this one is no longer a working function.

It's not terrible. I notice it seems to be noisy when you zoom. But oh well. I like your choice in background music btw.
You didn't show how to play back videos....I can't seem to figure that out and when I print instructions manuals, they are to small to read
I believe the "mode" button next to the zoom lever should cycle between recording and playback.

I managed to get my F90 connected to a tv but it only wants to show what I have on the memory card. Is it possible to just have the TV mirror what the camera is seeing? I think I can do it if I record, but I don't want to record. Any way to just have the camera view show up on the TV screen?
It would appear that you cannot mirror the camcorder's screen onto the TV monitor, I could be wrong, but that's what I found skimming through the manual. Shame really, these would make great studio camcorders.

I think I broke mine while putting different memory cards in it, I think it damaged the circuit slot where you put the memory cards because it won’t turn on now can you tell me how to fix it.

hey! I was wondering if you could help me out with a little issue I'm having when I export my videos from samsung camcorder... they come out in a 4:3 format in any player I tried (media player, MPlayer, VLC, etc.), despite the fact that the frames are actually 16:9. have you ever had this issue? do you know how to fix this?
Did you check video resolution settings on camera menu?
I found one in the dump and took it home. It actually still works, but the chip is gone. Other than that, it's cool

Yes it comes with some cables the red yellow that you connected to the tv

I actually figured out why it wasn't appearing for me, the extra options (intellizoom, C-nite) don't appear if you have the video quality set to 1280 X 720. They appear for me when I changed it to 720 X 480 / 60p (which I would recommend because it makes the video much smoother).
As far as cats go, be careful feeding the Russian Blue too much or he/she will end up as fat as mine.
I own a camera like this. Sadly the mode button got jammed and I don't know how to fix it. If anyone knows how to fix a jammed mode button on this camera. Let me know

I don't think I would. You're better off getting one of the older HD Sony Handycams. Of course, that depends on what your preferences in a camera would be. The only things that really set this camera apart is the time lapse and pause functions.
Hi. Thanks for your answer. I want to tell you that I bought this camera today. But now I have some problems trying to figure out how to configure it correctly in order to record videos for vlogging. I used to record in my older compact camera Canon PowerShot A2600 and I found that this one can record better videos than my new Samsung. Is it probably something to do with configuration? I'm not fully certain what you're asking here, but I believe the best settings for handheld recording are all the automatic functions. As far as video quality goes, you have to make a judgement as to which you value more: detail or frame rate. If you value frame rate, 480 60P, if you value video quality, 720 30P.

i have this camera. my only complaint is the location of the tripod mount
It makes it difficult to use mini tripods since it's so back heavy. Some of the newer Sony camcorders have the same problem.
How do u view the footage in the camera? On the camcorder ?
Remove the SD card and insert it into a laptop or SD card reader then play on PC or maybe you can replay on a TV ,perhaps you can use a USB or HDMI into your TV

can you send direct from HDMI to TV as you video, or is the HDMI port just for playback? I stream a lot of sporting events and need something cheap to video the scoreboard clock as i am streaming...
Unfortunately, I do not have the type of HDMI cable this camcorder uses. I skimmed the manual for this camcorder and it doesn't seem to mention that type of functionality.

As long as you have an A/V or HDMI cable for it, a video capture device, and a streaming software compatible with said device (like OBS), you shouldn't need drivers for this specific camera

This camcorder doesn't have a lens thread, so you'd have to superglue and duck tape it.
Does the built-in speaker Go on by itself or is there a switch for that?
I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but the volume for the built in speaker should be adjustable in the settings if it's turned down.
The speaker automatically comes on when the camera is turned on and you begin to shoot a video.

When I try recording it always turns off when not zoomed or touched. How the fuck do I turn this off?! How do you expect to record when it wants you to zoom it every 30 seconds because it has not been touched? Bullshit
