Thanks for visiting my town. GM MN. I had a Ranger Tug 21-EC that I kept in our marina for 7 years.
Thanks for watching! We love GM in all seasons and have been going for years. Never spotted your RT there though! Seems like the perfect boat for some weekend coastal cruising
@@Hop_Tug I sold it in 2022. It was moored right in front of the fish cleaning house. D dock.
Thanks for making this video! Loved how wholesome and authentic it was
So many memories from where you are and going. Spent a ton of time on that lake.
Lovely boat you have ! Waving hello from Kingston Ont .
Thank you! We plan to be in your neck of the woods next summer 😉
Nothing beats the Trent/Severn waterway system in Ontario, Canada for a great boating vacation. Travel from Lake Ontario all the way to Georgian Bay passing through many lakes, rivers and locks. I've done it. An amazing trip.
I really enjoyed your videos, i know a young family has many time demands but I sure wish you would make a few more, maybe one telling us about your beautiful ranger tug…thanks again.
Beautiful family on a beautiful boat in a beautiful lake. Thanks, loved it.
great video - love those ranger tugs
Nice video and editing. Looked like a great trip!
Those are great seaworthy boats. See many up here in Alaska.
Yea except for their small ass fuel tanks
Thank you so much for posting! There is not much info, on how the CB trailers. This did the best job so far of the fold down procedure. I look forward to following along.
You're anchored in front of my house in Surf City, NJ right now. Found your channel and checked out your videos..............
Ha! Well, thanks for checking us out! Hope you don’t mind if we hang out a couple days - waiting for better weather to make our way up the Hudson.
Man, that looks very relaxing even with the tasks at hand. Nice escape from the norm.
I towed a camano troll from Jacksonville Florida to Vancouver bc with my old dodge welding truck. What an adventure.
That’s a long haul!
Nice video. I realized watching that I saw you at Washburn. I was on the dock when you came over to fill your water due to the dock you were on did not have water at the time. Hope your trip was great. Take care.
Ha! I’m amazed you remember that! Hopefully it wasn’t because my driving was making you nervous. Thanks for watching!
Great video - your daughter is adorable. She will cherish memories like these. Thanks for taking us along.
awesome boat. i had a look at these. but I just didnt feel good spending that much with out keeping it in a heated garage during the winter. And my garage isnt exactly tall enough.
I think I say Mav fishing around the islands where you put in. Good luck and be safe
Great video
Environment you me him, green by everyone
How much does that thing weigh? I never thought you could tow something like that yourself. I love it
The boat is 12-13k lbs, the trailer is another 2-3k lbs. It takes a big pickup to do it, but it’s definitely doable! Oversize permits is probably the biggest hassle of it all.
@Hop_Tug 16 on a 12k hitch is brave. But I've done it. FYI not sure what the start width is but when I move my father in laws boat at 12 ft we need the over size banner and becon front and back. And watch the road times
Oboy!! I live down in Alabama, and not a boater, but from all the videos I've seen, tugs would be my vessel of choice. Subbed and looking forward to your adventures! Any Great Loop dreams/plans??
Thanks for checking out our vids! Believe it or not, we’re looping right now! Videos are in the works, but they are a lot of work and it will probably be a couple months before I can get one out.
@@Hop_Tug Ah! No rush, take your time; the first priority is to enjoy the trip. 😎
keep the videos coming.
great video
Awesome!
Our 2014 R31 CB will be doing a 2000 mile Downeast Loop next summer. I too am interested in your trailer setup as we will be driving Happy Place down to Miami the following year to spend winter and spring in the Bahamas
Sounds like some great trips you have planned! We hope to be in the Bahamas this coming February. I’m happy to try to answer any trailering questions you might have.
Is the Ram 1500 or 2500 Hemi. Looks like a 1500 , but not see the badging? I’m thinking I’ll need more than my 1500 at over 5 tons.
That's some lake.
Nice job on your first video! I agree with the other folks about the music being a bit loud, but you'll find your footing on that.
I'm curious about why you fueled up with road diesel as opposed to something without the road taxes? Maybe it was still cheaper than buying at the marina?
Thanks for giving it a look! It’s been my experience that road diesel is still cheaper than a marina markup. We’ve occasionally found some very cheap diesel (stay tuned for the Isle Royale episode) but it’s rare. I guess I could go to a truck stop and get refer diesel for less?
Man I've never been to Lake Superior when the water was so still
Quick question, do you have to go into commercial truck weight stations towing this oversize?
I always do. Some weigh stations have electronic signs that will inform you to enter, other have signs posted that say “all vehicles over xx lbs”
I’ve heard some folks say we don’t need to do it if we’re not commercial, but I’ve never had an issue.
Do you know the GVWR on your trailer? We have restrictions in Florida that other states don’t have. If the sum of the truck and trailer GVWR is over 26k, you have to have a CDL.
Turn down the volume on the music
Music volume sounds great.
you can just adjust your volume for your self dingbat.
Better yet shit can it.
Turn down your hearing aids
why did you go in the Weight Station?
My understanding of Minnesota law is that all vehicles over 10k gvw are supposed to stop. Some weigh stations actively message you to pull in, I can’t remember if this was one.
@@Hop_Tug Oh wow ok thank you for explaining. State laws varies of course. It is still odd to me. Have a nice day!
very nice! is your truck a 4x4 ?
Thanks! It is. Don’t usually need the 4x4 engaged, but it’s good insurance on the boat ramp 👍🏻
How heavy is the load? We want. To know but you just flash your phone for 1/2 a second.
Why are you stopping at weight stations? If it's personal?
I pull over depending on what the sign says - sometimes they say “all vehicles over xxx lbs” or it’s a digital sign that specifically directs me to exit for the station. I figure it’s better to stop when unnecessary vs the other way around!
So you put on the oversized banner. So admitted you new you are to wide . I hope you looked into each state you go to. Because depending on the width you needed a becon on the front and back . Some states like n.y and mass are stickler.
Hi, thanks for watching and for your concern. I’d hoped the video would convey the efforts I went through to ensure we were operating legally. I can assure you that we had permits for each state and they were adhered to fully if not more conservatively. Beacons are not required for a load this size in MN or WI. As I read it, the oversize banner isn’t even required in MN for this size load.
Thank you from Ireland , nice video , towable boating doesnt really exist here , country is small. However it looks great in US . And the nae sayers / critics need to get a life . Good job .
Oh wow, thanks! I’d love to see Ireland someday. There is actually a Ranger Tug almost identical to ours that was shipped to Europe last summer - I believe he either did cross from the UK to Ireland, or is planning to, so keep an eye out! The boat is called “Sweet Love”
Lake Superior would be about the last place I would cruise. That sucker never warms up.
You make a fair point, but the water is incredibly clear and there’s seclusion in abundance, if that’s your thing!
I also have the R31. What brand of trailer do you have and would would you recommend it? Mine is currently moored. Thinking of getting a trailer. Great video.
Thanks! We have an Integrity trailer, out of Nunica Michigan. I’ve been very impressed. Beefy aluminum construction, electric over hydraulic brakes, grease bearings. Tongue weight is about 1000 lbs and it’s stable going down the road. I would recommend them!
How much did you pay for the trailer?
It was a deal with the boat when I bought it… but I would expect 16-18k to buy new.
Ok, thanks
I say 3 hours of working on boat for every one hour of use. Keep posting. What was your weight and did you get tongue weight? Im going to guess 12,000 with trailer.
Thanks for watching! More videos are in the works.
The tongue weight is around 1000 lbs, and the boat + trailer is a little over 15000 lbs.
@@Hop_Tug get a good wet wet and tongue weight. Don’t go less than 10% so you need more tongue weight especially with a single wheel rear axle. I think you are correct, 1400 to 15000 wet. Question does the permit sign on the front bumper rub at all. Keep posting content. We plan to be doing similar routes starting summer 2024 in a R29CB.
The railing not running around the full boat is scary
Music covers your voice.
Relax. Lose the PFDs.
Because I could not hear a single word over the loud music, I quickly lost interest. There are dozens, hundreds of boat videos. What makes them interesting is the connection between the people and the boat. How can I exsperiance that If I cant hear what your saying? Some music is fine, as your sailing into the sunset. But most of us want to hear what you say.
Thanks for your constructive criticism. These are mainly for my own purpose as a log of our experiences to remember at a later date - I just make them public in case anyone else happens to be interested! In any case, I invite you give our future videos another chance, as this one was my first!
Only 180 gallons for a 30ft massive heavy boat? What’s the range fucking 90 miles? Who the hell would put such a small tank in a big boat like that. My 27 Cape Horn CC has a 180 gallon tank for Christ sake
