  • In this video I paint a Carbon Fibre Hood. Using my Devilbiss DV1 and my Sagola Trophy Truck Spray gun.
I still needed to sand and buff the clear which makes this a great video for anyone who is painting where they get alot of dust.

I’m doing this WR Blue before the end of the year, friends have this hood and Compared to stock there isn’t any noticeable weight difference since stock is aluminum.

Having your hood a different color then the car looks ghetto at, regardless if it's carbon fiber or not.

That turned out absolutely amazing! I love the look of carbon fiber in small decorative parts, definitely not for an entire hood. This is exactly what I would want done if I had a hood made from carbon fiber.

Wish this dude was near me, I want something similar. Those who think its a sin to paint it, what about exotics? They paint most of their carbon. I like it painted to match the cars paint and still show a little carbon on the vents. Very well done!

Good to see this technique. I have a carbon fiber hood in manufacture and I'm planning on taking that road less traveled and having it painted, my goal being to return it to its original appearance. Based on what I am, planning on, it looks like a pretty simple job as I am not planning on any tricky masking.

To the people who want to know why Aussies paint their carbon, its cause its illegal to have carbon on a registered car in Australia. Yes i know its drum. But you technically can't even change your rims without it being inspected and cleared by an engineer in Australia.

I know that is your hood so I'm sure your fine with buffing out the scratches after sanding but if I was a customer I would be pissed. That area would be thinner in paint than the rest of the hood, therefore that area would fade quicker too later on.

    • @ryukoysusei

Carbon fiber parts are sealed inside clear resin so they are naturally glossy. You can't have a "natural carbon fiber, as carbon fiber parts are made up of multiple sheets of carbon fiber weave layered on top of each other with resin sealing them to each other.
