Maria Sá Silva - Saudade (Carlos Paredes em harpa)

“Saudade” is a Portuguese and Galician word for a feeling of nostalgic longing for something or someone that one was fond of and which has knowledge that the object of longing might never really return. Deeply associated with this sentiment is Fado, from latin “fatum” a traditional portuguese music genre usually played by a singer and portuguese guitar.
Joining the melancolic sounds of the fado with the bold and spunk character of the spanish music this solo harp concert combines classical compositions by Granados, Albéniz, De Falla with the work of the famous portuguese guitar player Carlos Paredes and his father Artur Paredes which will be played for the first time on the harp.
This project represents a way of preserving the portuguese and spanish legacy giving, at the same time a new light in the hopes of reaching more people.
