    I'm about to do this job on my 2013 Escape AWD and noticed that the notch wasn't pushed into the axle nut on replacement. Just wanted to let you know that and I appreciate you publishing this video. It'll save me a few hundred bucks from having a shop do it.

    Thank you so much for making this video. The best part is not having to use a slide hammer. Great trick! Much appreciated!

    I have the EXACT car with 37,300 miles on it. I thought yesterday that I was hearing a noise coming out of the back, right side. Now, I’ll do deeper exploration.

    Gee, all this work done in about 11 minutes,.. and my Dealer told me that it would take 1.5 hours! Hahahaha... thanks for this 'How To' but I wish you'd told us ( me ) the torque on these bolts and axle nut.
    Thanks again!

    Good straight forward video, thx!
    I'm curious how you diagnosed it as a wheel bearing and then how you isolated it to that particular bearing?

      Lazy method: Drive the vehicle until you hear noises, jack up the vehicle and turn the tires to see which one is making the noise, repair as needed.

    Brilliant thanks mate ! Must do mine !
    Just one question my squeaks rear drivers wheel just like yours I think I need done ! But just want yo know how you realised it was the bearing, I'm positive it's mine as well!
    Everytime I press the brake it stops and then when I let go the pedal it starts again

    • @Tomsfoolery.
      @Tomsfoolery.  2 роки тому +2

      That noise would be coming from your brakes. When the wheel bearing is bad, it makes a humming noise that changes pitch if you load or unload it. Like if you go around a curve in the road or swerve. That squeak that changes with application of the brakes is brake related.

    I replaced the same wheel hub on my uncles escape and now it has abs, traction control lights on and it’s a bit under power. Could I have damaged a speed sensor by going this? I did some sanding of the rim where the hub rests in

    I have the 2017 escape titanium AWD, if you have the electronic parking brake, DO NOT try to push in the piston in the caliber. There is a maintenance mode that will retract the electric parking brake motors, ( just look it up on UA-cam)

    • @kchilz32
      @kchilz32 3 роки тому

      Is it the same for the 2013 titanium? I did the hub assembly today on my uncles escape and abs light and traction control lights came on and was under powered

    • @mopesrus7266
      @mopesrus7266 Рік тому

      The procedure to put electric parking brake into "maintenance" mode is spelled out in the owner's manual also.

    The worst part about this is, when i go to do mine this weekend, i will inevitably fight every single nut and bolt, that will immediately strip the second i put any amount of torque on them to take them off... and will become a 10 hour job

    Can you describe the symptoms? My wife has a 2018 Escape Sel, has 28,000 miles and is making a slight popping noise in the rear whenever the axle is articulated. It’s been very hard to diagnose, and all the ball joints are tight.

    Hey There, This is Amber...I am working on our 2013 Escape Titanium, replacing driver's side rear hub as well as replacing the rear brakes. Could you tell me the torque that should be on the 32mm and any of the other bolts that require a more exact torque.? I couldn't believe it when I pulled up this video and saw that it was actually someone I know, worked with, and trust. I am very proud of you. I will tell Little Rog to check your videos as well. Great job! PS...You would make a great teacher!

      Wow! Small world Amber! If you haven’t already changed out that bearing, check out my hub buster video. That tool takes the work out of removing them! I’ll look up the torque when I get off work. You welcome to borrow my hub buster if needed.

      It's AWD, similar to 4WD. Easy way to spot the difference is the presence of the rear axle shaft

    36000 miles? Aren't they under warranty til 100000 miles???

    • @Tomsfoolery.
      @Tomsfoolery.  5 років тому

      One would think! I went round and round with the dealer and he said he couldn’t help because the bearings were only covered to 36,000 miles! It was like 500 miles over. I spent half my working life in a dealership and I know they could have warrantied those bearings.

    • @2011barnstormer
      @2011barnstormer 4 роки тому

      I would have went directly to Ford bypassing your Ford dealer. Ford don't want to lose future sales because of 500 miles. I've had a PTU & bearings replaced & front passenger drive shaft at Ford cost 2500 miles out of warranty. I also have a Ford Escape 2017 AWD.
