Incredible performance, and what a difficult song to sing. I think most of the artists on the CMAs today pale greatly in comparison to the ones who came before them -- the Faith Hills, the Trisha Yearwoods, the Martina McBrides, etc. I'm standing on my feet, Faith, and I love seeing Timmy smiling from the front row!
Overall such a powerful performance! Her voice might have cracked on one high note in the song but she still managed to pull it off as the rest of the song was amazingly sung.
Watching this performance makes me cry every single time. This is exactly the period when she was basically being ostracized from the country industry because of her "Cry" album where country literally stopped playing her. She was criticized for wanting to get into acting. It's like an entire industry of super insecure people who hate to see artists spread their sings and thrive outside of country. I can just imagine her emotions during this song of feeling like she's being judged by everyone in that audience. At the same time wanting to give everyone a big 'f*ck you' for the way she was being treated. Oddly, so many country artists today seem to be embraced for collaborating with pop or R&B artists now. Even Taylor Swift hasn't gotten nearly the negative treatement despite going completely pop for almost a decade now. Faith deserved much better from an industry she, along with Shania and Garth, helped solidify on the mainstream map.
Yes! Cry is one of my favorite albums, and I'll admit I was disappointed in its follow-up Fireflies because it felt like rather than continue to dive into power ballads this side of a mandolin and Celine Dion, she just accommodated to the denominator, even if that album was meeting in the middle. Personally, I wish she didn't step back from music as she did. Maybe it's the country music forgoing women after a certain age or time. Faith Hill is not meant to be a blip in the scale of time. She is more than just a marker of late 90s country/pop/adult contemporary. If Shania Twain can come back stronger, so can Faith Hill!
@@outinsiderShania is a great artist but is very different than Faith. Shania is the country equivalent of Madonna but not in a bad way. Faith is in the same light as, maybe Celine. I think Faith's attempts at a "comeback" album fell short with her "test songs" like Come Home and American Heart, neither of which really captivated. Even her and Tim's duet album didn't catch up on the way it would have 10 years ago. But with that said, I would love Faith to come back with a Cry-like album. Her vocals, when she's confident, are not far off the best in the industry. And I feel she still has a very strong fan base.
@@outinsider A nice, pure quiet ballad with the tenderness of their vocals would be perfect. Their vocals wouldn't blend well on a more upbeat song, though they could bounce off each other effectively.
I did not know she could sing like that. I've heard her sing off key many times and that was to me a flawless performance I didn't even hear the crack. Her voice is gorgeous I can see why she ventured into crossover pop music because I don't really hear a country influence in her.
This is a very hard song to sing. She was singing her fanny off. Who cares if her voice cracked she continued on like a trooper and came back and killed it at the end. Standing ovation was well deserved!!
faith hill can I ask you to be my godmother and tim Mcgraw can be my godfather I want to meet you in person I can sing country music i want to be a country singer i can sing with you on stage aunt faith love your hopefully goddaughter shirley morales 🎤 🎶 🎶 🌹 ❤
Unbelievable. She doesn’t get the recognitions she deserves.

Hearing the recorded version you can already tell it’s a difficult song... and she still killed it live! 😍🤩😍

YES. Perfectly said. No females today come close to that trio of Faith, Trisha, and Martina. Not even close.

Hell, I want to say people have been waiting for a Faith Hill/Shania Twain duet for years!

Sounds like she was battling her emotions as she sung this song. Great job.
