- Here's the action music from level 4.1 Cold Blood, from the fire ant update - enjoy! In this level, fire ants have recently invaded a particularly amphibian-infested area of the green swamp, and must displace a great titan in the form of an American bullfrog. For fun, see if you can spot where the güiro is used in this track.

Love the soundtrack for tier 4! The tempo is very energetic, and the guiro making frog-croak sounds is a nice touch

This became my "standard battle" vs lizardfolks in my rpg campaign lol. It worked very well to set the jungle mood and it builds tension pretty nicely.

I do not speak English, if something is written strange it is the google translator. This work has moved me, I can not believe that they have not achieved musical fame, all famous artists do excellent works, but, they do not compare with this work of classical music which you will never stop listening to over and over again, the two variants for each theme adapt to what you want and I highlight this because of the precision it has to change from one theme to another. Please never give up because there is a great community that will never get tired of supporting you. The best game I've ever played.

This theme perfectly matches the Chaos of protecting aphids from 2 separate ant colonies.
Kill the ants at the bottom of the map, steal their aphids, then use the resources you get from massacring all of them to kill the bigheaded ants before they can make any majors

True, the energetic tempo and instruments really describes how you need to expand and focus throughout this level. It really encapsulates the difficult gameplay but also how powerful fire ants really are.
POV: your tier 3 200 fire ants are eaten by 3 toads that are now attacking ur queen

@@Levington.mainchannel sure did, I was playing that level for hours, and I got so powerful that even the narrator said I was unstoppable, but once I killed the bullfrog I lost to all of those darn amphibians
4:37. Unfortunately for this queen, amphibians and carnivorous plants are not the only things that lurk in these marshes. Pacific Giant Centipedes, Scolopendra Subspinipes, also wander these areas in search of an easy meal. Their giant size and many legs make them a tough and fast opponent for any who stand in their way. If the fire ants are to keep them at bay, they will need to quickly organize a group and take the fight to them, or else the centipede will ravage their nest…
An ant has fallen victim to a centipede. The venom will quickly seep through the ant’s veins and kill it from the inside, giving the centipede an easy meal
Through grit and cunning, the ants manage to take down a centipede. While it’s shell will not provide much of anything, the soft lower body has enough mass to support a colony for days at a time. The ants will work quickly to pick it apart.
These levels take place in North Carolina.
I have played this game for way too many hours now, and I still listen to the soundtrack weekly. Slug Disco, you made the most extraordinary music tracks in all of video game history.
I onestly think these new levels are the best added until now. The Fire ants are exactly how i imagined them:

I like to think the levels happen around the same time like the spring tide in 2.2 and the collapsed dusky ant tunnels in 2.1 probably from the spring tide
Honestly really fits well especially when in combat with the amphibians of the area, but 1:47-2:20 using the rachet thing sounding like frogs croaking is dope

My, the new instrument, the Güiro, is sounding absolutely beautiful mixed in with the woodwind, and adds that bit of extra detail we all need in our lives

his musician skills really do get better, althought i might say, rising tide is still one of my favorites
@@miguelpedraentomology6080 Rising Tide and Queen of the Hill have a special place in my heart aswell. Oh, and Hibernation, with the different Christmas carols mixed in! But all the levels have absolutely PHENOMENAL music.

This is by far the best soundtrack for a video game I’ve ever heard, it’s rare that I end up loving a game soundtrack so much that I go out of my way to look it up and listen to it. I love all the different instruments used and how unique and energetic it is! All the noises make it sound like there’s a lot going on and it’s music to my adhd brain. I can’t wait to listen to the ost for the next levels
Heck yes! When I played this level the first thing I thought was “when will this be available?” Amazing job. And on the topic of music, is this soundtrack getting on Apple Music a possibility? I want to add this to my playlist.

Fire Ants are my favorite faction to play, and this absolutely feels like their theme. After the tense survival levels of the black ants, the defensive grind of the wood ants, and securing your supply lines as the Leafcutters, you now get a chance to flip from defense to offense. This song doesn't mount as much tension as the other songs, because you're no longer so worried about losses. If you're anything like me, you'll take Pervasive every time, and you experience being the destructive horde carving out a niche from the local ecosystem
You reach critical mass before too long - too numerous to be challenged, and the song revels in your power. To paraphrase a certain chemistry teacher, for once, you aren't in-danger, you *are* the danger. Fire Ants are considered some of the most successful invasive species in the world, and this song makes you feel it. It's a welcome taste of power before the brutal bullfrog battle, and the tense Biblical apocalypse to come in the next level
Very well written, but Vigorous stomps Pervasive and you are still very much defending. The frogs that burrow in and the carnivorous plants wreaking your ants making food harder to obtain. It IS very annoying and quite difficult playing this level on Hard unlike the other ant colonies. You are struggling, UNTIL you build up enough of a force that you can no longer be reckon with.
That's the same for all the colonies though, not just the fire ants. The more numerous the more deadly. Fire ants are just... they move fast af.
@mikewil7571 Oh, yes, of course there's still a lot defense - that did slip my mind during writing this, haha, the amphibians are a pretty big threat. But honestly, being able to take them on added to the feeling of power - the greatest beasts of the Undergrowth fall before my empire, even if they take their toll.
To be honest, I never saw the appeal of Vigorous - I'm open to being proven wrong, but in the attritional warfare of ants, leaning into the numbers advantage of fire ants by going Pervasive and being able to lose my entire first wave with little consequence always seemed like the natural choice
Pervasive is always my main choice bcuz free ants 🤑 and I don't have any interest in vigorous
@@SHARKY_009 That's what I'm thinking - when ant warfare is so attritional, being able to spare more of those precious food supplies when replacing losses is a huge advantage
@@SHARKY_009 Vigorous is irrefutably best according to general consensus and it's already been proven through tests.
You won't need "free ants" if you know how to play the game. If anything, you'd require more damage output due to the constant attacks your nest faces as Fire Ants.
In other words, your opinion is flawed and vastly outweighed.

This soundtrack is honestly my favorite out of all the soundtracks. 3.2 action used to be my favorite..
Overwhelmed with burning venom, the bullfrog finally succumbs to the might of the fire ants. Utterly spent, it collapses on the hill side, leaving the victors free to consume its body.
Unbeknownst to the ants, the presence of the bullfrog was keeping many other local amphibians at bay. The power vacuum it left behind is attracting a host of salamanders and frogs eager to take its place. The ants should go to ground quickly, and prepare for the imminent chaos.
Oh my god stop all the others were already godly and this is just soo good!
I just love this music! My favourites are this and the front line night action theme.
In terms of sheer quality of content the fire ant update is unparalled. I truly believed that it would be impossible for you guys to surpass the leaf cutter update but i was thankfully proven very wrong, this update was just as good if not better when you factor in the greater enemy variety, the addition of Titans (finally! been waiting for that for years), The impeccable level design, and imaculate soundtrack. I can only imagine how incredible the 5th and final major update will be if this trend continues.
Now if only we could get updates on schedule...

its probably gonna be epic too, maybe even surpass it, because there wont be 2, but 3 new story levels, with one of them having the most colonies out of all current levels (6 colonies, 1 more than hibernation

being thrown head first into this level and not knowing how it works was one of- if not the most- stressful experiences ive had from this game haha. still one of my favorites especially because of the track. theres so many pleasant percussive sounds and then that melody that kicks in??? ough!! the love put into this soundtrack is insane

I listened to this track when I was reading the story "Of ants and dinosaurs"
I only came to the game after release and boy howdy was this mission an ass kicker. Heard this track *a lot* of times before finally getting a game where I didn't lose *40 minutes in* or something haha.
I like that it has some of the Looney-Tunes Industrial vibe. Gotta still do the "piss off both colonies" achievement, but I know it's going to be pure torture for an hour and then I'll probably lose because of some goof up. Getting Toad in the Hole was a *pain* doing it on Extreme (to try and get it at the same time as other achievements.) I kept missing it by 30-60 seconds because a couple pieces of food were left. AGH! but we got there.

I was plating this level for my last pre release playthrough yesterday and I failed BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH WORKERS TO REPLENISH THE EGGS!!! AHHH!! Anyway, great level and soundstrack 👍
