I like the idea of the free roam mode. It'll be great to finally have the editor which allow proper modding for the game. The upcoming Blackpool route from Just Trains looks very nice.
Free roam over the existing time table interests me quite a bit. I intend to use the editor (assuming I can figure it out) to make scenarios. I have lots of ideas for complex scenarios.
Lol, TSW3 isn't even finished, and the next one's already in the pipeline. It's always the same with some of these Sim-Series. They're just milking the players, tossing out half-baked bug festivals of games, and, funny enough, people still buy them and support this business model. No freaking way I'm buying TSW4 just a year after TSW3 came out. I'd be more willing to pay the same amount for Derail Valley so that they can expand it further. When I see what Devs like them can get out and then look at these insanely overpriced (the DLC's, not the base game) Sims like TSW3, I can just shake my head and wonder why people support it.
You're welcome to your view. Derail Valley has had no world expansion for years. It's had a significant graphic upgrade and new locomotives but that's it. I play quite a few Sims most of which like you I pay for and like you I choose where to put my cash. Everyone's needs and views are different. I'm perfectly fine with paid base game updates because along with that update I get three routes and a bunch of new trains that separately would cost five times more.
They still haven't fixed the bugs (Game stopping) I reported when TSW3 came out. I won't be buying TSW4 I think I'll wait for TSW 5, 6 or 7 in 2024, 25, 26. As for Derail Valley I've got that and loving it.

Anything you can give me reliable reproduction steps for starting from opening the game until the problem I'll happily test and convey via the channels I have access to
@@trainsimulatordriver Yes I did report the bugs via support. I've been reporting them every couple of months and get the same auto reply then later on get an e-mail to say ticket has been closed. So I check the scenarios again, still broken so I go through the same process again. I like to play through the "Rail Journeys" but because of these bugs I can't complete them. The first one is on the "Northern Trans-Pennine" route Journey 6 "Manchester Victoria - Leeds Express. I can get as far as Huddersfield and then my route is blocked by another train leaving the station but has bugged out and stopped just past a RED light. The second one is on the "Schnellfahrstrecke Koln" route and is the 1st scenario in the route. "BR442 Talent Introduction". When I approch the 1st station the stop marker disapears and you can then go no further. I have found work arounds using 3rd party software but these are important bugs and should be fixed. Don't get me wrong I love TSW. I've been playing it since it was called "Railworks" (over 5000hrs playtime) but I'm getting sick of DTG thinking the best way to fix bugs is to bring out a new version (TSW 4 + more DLC) and hope people forget about the previous bugs.
Consoles are going to be left behind if we don’t get access to third party content. I let out a bug whoop when they announced the editor, followed by a deflated “Oh”! Time will tell I guess. Overall fairly pleased with the reveal.
I'm actually not sure on how the packaging of content from the editor works and how it could be distributed to consoles. I do know that the majority of the player base is on console and I would expect DTG to have a go at getting user generated content to them. Stay tuned we'll both learn about it.
I saw when they were showing Free roam mode, that when they were spawning in the trains, something called Custom Formations. Wonder if we're finally getting some kind of consist creator

What so many don't understand is TSW is a niche simulation. In other words it appeals to a very small percentage of the gaming world. Dovetail has to rely on this small percentage to continue to make and support their product, not to mention make a living for themselves. If you can't afford to throw $50 to $100 a year at them, then you should probably find a new hobby.
That's what you might think. 110k sold copies on Steam for TSW3 - not included the DLC's. Which are alone 97 of them. It might be niche - but a very succesful niche game then. Typical good Indy games are usually in the range of 5-10k sold games. Numbers taken from Steam DB.

Im new to train sim as ive just got a ps5 and im looking forward to getting into it and using free roam mode especially. Can you uncouple a train shunt and couple new rolling stock?
In free roam and sandbox scenarios yes. In services you can't generally do it because the dispatcher wants you to leave and most points along the route are controlled by the dispatcher.

Please help. I purchased Train Sim World 4 and my son wants CSX, BNSF, UP and NS engines. How do you get these engines? I don't see them anywhere in this game.
@@denalikid72 they're separate DLC, BNSF comes from Cajon Pass. NS run on various routes Horseshoe Curve is likely best. UP comes from various with Sherman Hill being the best. CSX comes from Sandpatch Grade. I would suggest waiting for a sale of you want to get all of those.
Different business model. TS has had pay upgrades over the years too. The cost funds the development. How much core changes has TS had before it got to the point that they were forced to do it because it was about to stop working in next Jan?

To force existing players to buy a complete new version of the game yet again in order to be able to purchase future new dlc’s and to get fixes for existing routes you already own is crass and extremely annoying because I assume TSW3 like TSW2 will now just be abandoned. Yes you get 5 trains and 3 routes if you buy TSW4 but I’m only interested in UK dlc’s so why should I be forced to buy or have routes from countries taking up space which I’ve no interest in playing in order to yet again gain access to future new content because they are once again behind a paywall? I still play TSW2 btw because despite problems within it it’s still a better version of TSW than 3 and probably 4. How many versions of TSW does a player need to have installed? Besides I’m sick of being an unpaid beta tester tbh for dlc’s that should work properly right out of the box especially when the already OTT price for a dlc in TSW3 will inevitably goes up once again under the excuse of the TSW4 banner like they did with TSW3. Everyone’s mileage varies I suppose but count me out from this ongoing farce now and yes it is a personal choice but I suspect I won’t be alone. I play on PS4 btw and as far as I know you can’t delete individual routes? Maybe one day if I can afford a PS5, TS4 is being sold for peanuts and the quality of dlc’s improve I might reconsider but at the moment it’s highly unlikely because I’ll probably have moved onto something else by then.

@@Sparhawk162 they might not fix what's important to you, you need to report things via support. They do fix plenty of bugs. I'm in the beta I see tons of fixes go through. If you've got something you think is important give me a set of instructions to reproduce it from the start of the game to the problem and I'll happily reproduce and report it via channels I have access to.
I really hope in tsw4 they improve passenger animations add children families phones and more to make it way more realistic
