I'm a real life steam engineman driving all sorts of train simulators mostly with Raildriver. If you're interested in rail by someone with actual rail experience then join me and we can explore together. Streaming weekly on Sundays at 8.30am Melbourne, Australia time AEST. There will be occasional other streams as the mood strikes. If you feel like helping me with streaming and software costs or just to buy me a coffee paypal.me/trainsimulatordriver I certainly appreciate it.
Steam Engine Simulator Updated
This great little simulator which is free to play on Steam. Great little simulator both before and after the update. It is a good tool to teach the basics of steam firing and operation. Could do with some more advanced concepts but is good as it is and is useful and fun to play. You can get the free simulation at store.steampowered.com/app/2381620/Steam_Engine_Simulator/

RUN8 V3 Lets Look At The Amazing Graphics - Are They Better
Переглядів 3694 години тому
Back in December there was an update to Run8 V3. Part of it is better graphics plus an enormous amount of other changes and new features. Run8 is for a serious simulator driver so its graphics have always been secondary, is it better now? I also calibrate my RailDriver in this video and re-learn the keyboard commands. It is one of the only games where you can type your name and it does stuff! I...

Bet you guys would have fun snowed in a mountain chalet 😂
That explosion seems a bit excessive 😂
It would be cool if they had option to turn on working with the conductor as the driver. Maybe introduce random scenarios or faults. I remember taking the Metrolink out of Santa Clarita to LA and the train ran over a tire on the tracks and the train had to keep stopping every so often and the conductor would have to get out and pull pieces of tire out from the trucks. Luckily, the train was able to continue, but then another time I was on the metro from LA down to Orange County And the power just completely shut off in all passenger cars and we got stuck at the station for like 30 minutes until they could sort it out
@@JP_Stone there are some scenarios like this (eg Island Line after the storm where you have to get things off the tracks) and the first tentative steps towards faults has come with the Expert DB BR 101. Some other recent trains have the bones for adding faults later (like the Pendolino) but it's not yet at the level you're asking for. It would be interesting to see how well they export 101 sold as that would provide a guide on how likely more content like that would come.
Im making my own vr ng map in rblx, idk if ima go puffing billy or not, but once we get it operational ur more than welcome to come vist
@TexasPacificofoamer always happy for more Victorian content, give me a yell when your experience is ready

Thank you, this was very helpful 🙂
@@blackie5566 cool, glad it helped you
I was there. Great tour!
its pretty silly when the public come in, the railway itself is coming along great and the team do their best to run professionally but controlling Roblox players is like trying to find a white cat in a snowstorm
I was behaving just fine, but yeah some people were a bit silly. In the end it turned out well, with a few carriages deleted but that was it.
@@JuliansTrainsandGames I am quite impressed with what they have managed to learn and accomplish in such a short time period
@@trainsimulatordriver Ikr, I really hope they do some more tours in the future. Also how were you chatting to the devs? Is it on a discord voice chat call?
@JuliansTrainsandGames yes there will be more as it develops I imagine. Yes we use discord voice chat.
I haven't laughed this much in a long time, thumbs up!
@@berkaybugra glad you enjoyed it
I haven't touched Train Sim World since I started playing Run8 over a year ago. I am embarrassed at all the money I threw at Dovetail Games over the years, hoping they would develop a system like Run8 where you can actually manage and operate your train and not just drive from A-B. I've been into train sims since pre-Railworks days with thousands of hours on the Train simulator/tsw platform. I will say that running british trains in TSW is pretty fun.
@@whippy107 it comes down to what matters to each person, you clearly enjoy the simulation and purpose you get from run 8. There's another simulator for German trains called Zusi 3 which is a gamified version of a real training simulator. If you're interested in a simulator with purpose then I also suggest Railroader where you build up contracts as you develop your railway and you deliver freight from interchange yard to those contracts and collect the resulting cars and take them to staging. How you manage it is completely up to you. I'm at the point now that I build and run road freights with local switchers for the last mile. I'm even starting to develop a working time table.
@@trainsimulatordriver thank you so much for the response and for the tips! I've never heard on Zusi 3, but I will certainly look into it now. I've been watching Railroader, but have not yet given it a try; I'm sure I will at some stage though. You are right, we all enjoy different things about sims and that's ok. I totally understand why people ;love TSW, as it's really beautiful and can be a lot of fun, I just wish you could do more switching with it. I appreciate your videos.
@@whippy107 I think there's hope on the switching front, San Bernardino has switching services. If that develops a little more and comes for every route it would be a great addition. I know Matt Peddleston loves switching (and plays railroader) so there's hope.
Thank you so much, surely the best tutorial video about Germany trains (despite I'm French), in particular about the setup for Flixtrain Vectron, PZB/LZB, and... AFB! Liked, obviously, and you've won a new subscriber! 👍👌
@@dominiquecamus8488 I'm glad to help you, it's whyi do this 😁
sadly u picked the absolute worse combination in run 8 lol . graphics are horrible yes, but passenger ops is not what makes run 8 enjoyable either run 8 is meant to be played similar to railroader. running freight for customers and stuff
@@BluGames yeah I know, I've done plenty of freight runs, I picked Amtrak in this case because I know it works and won't load into an empty world like some of the scenarios do. There's no getting around the awful graphics though really for me. Railroader on the other hand looks great. Maybe the Run 8 team could consider updating to one of the modern graphics and physics engines?
@@trainsimulatordriver trust me all of us in Run8 are begging the devs to upgrade the gfx if it had modern gfx it would be the perfect sim imo
@BluGames it's kinda interesting that they don't do it, change is difficult and I have no doubt it would be very disruptive for a time but I think the rewards of more players would cover the costs
"we wont complain about the characters in any other game anymore will we" lol
@@BluGames hehe, yes humans isn't really the strong point of any of the rail simulators really
What mode is this in?
@Spider-Man-r4x service mode (timetable)
it's nice that they chose the icm because it is being phased out
@@daanvandenelshout445 it may have been easier to get permission because they're being phased out. Some trains have been dumbed down to avoid people taking real ones.
Hey. I came from the train sim world 5 video, I’m running the free pack but I bought the San Bernardino line from San Bernardino to Los Angeles, I also finished the tutorials. Can you explain to me how to play my line?
@@trainandrobloxrailfanner8163 use the to the trains menu then select route or train then a service or scenario and do it. If you're on console it's best to restart the console after adding DLC because they like to keep games "hot" and may not recognise a new DLC.
@ yes I put route, But the only thing that pops up is training center.
@trainandrobloxrailfanner8163 have you downloaded the DLC? Depending on your settings it may not be automatic. Take a look at forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/how-to-download-tsw-5-compatible-content.84462/
@@trainsimulatordriver thank you! Your time and help is appreciated🙏
@trainandrobloxrailfanner8163 is it working for you now?
With Run8, it's about the systems simulation, and US railroad ops. Another thing Run8 has that TSW doesn't is how dlcs seamlessly link together. You can run, non-stop, from Selingman, AZ to Modesto, CA, which is roughly 600 miles, if you own all the dlcs. It's kind of like how M$ Scenery Sim is great when it comes to eye candy, but X-Plane is the best when it comes to systems simulation and flight handling.
@@jeddis92 thanks, yeah I get that run 8 is like that, sadly you can do join routes with TSC but not TSW. For me personally I can't get through the graphics anymore. It needs an update badly to me more visually pleasing.
I like Run 8, it may be far from the best looking graphics, but what you can do on it is superb and superior in terms of simulation to anything else that I have seen. You are not limited to short sections of routes as in TSW, the routes DLCs they do release often allow seamless joining of routes which can result in 100s of miles of track. I would certainly recommend it if you like American freight or freight in general. It requires a lot of set up to get the best out of it, but when it is set up it is rewarding and fun. At the end of the day its your railroad to make what you want of it. Another thing I like is you don't have XP, and scenarios, which are often annoying in TSW.
@@tmn278 you can turn off xp (I have). For me run 8 needs a graphics update to be visually pleasing. There's better simulators out there (Zusi 3 for example) but they're very specific. For American big freight fans Run8 is the superior simulator from a simulation perspective but lags behind 20 years in the graphics department.
The environmental graphics are hugely important to me, which is why I don't play Run8, or any sim with less realistic graphics than TSW.
@@Daytona2 indeed similar for me, take a look at my Railroader and Simrail videos which are also good graphics. The most modern Trainz routes are fairly decent too but it doesn't seem to be developing much recently other than getting an Xbox release. 0

I remember you yes, you interacted a bit back then. Have you let TSC update to the latest version and run the 64 bit version. It should tell you what the issue is when it dies rather than just out of memory like it used to say. For me it's usually stable for about six hours.

Nice!!
based on history I will probably build this in 2029
@trainsimulatordriver how long does it take to do it when you decide to?
@psych-ryry typically a modular takes between 20 and 100 hours depending on the complexity of the interior (they are fully detailed inside even though you'll never see it again)
@trainsimulatordriver Nice! Gotta try one someday!
@psych-ryry they are a commitment :)
the more smoke they produce the happier they are?
lol not really, there is such as thing as too much - if you see a lot of dark smoke chances are a new charge of fuel just went onto the fire, if its oily and thick then the fireman is throwing on too much, if its yellow then its too much and the fire is too cold - generally you want a dark grey when you put on a charge and it clears to light grey then clear, once its getting towards clear its time to feed it again
Oh dear...

You can see one of them at ua-cam.com/users/livepV8a_56MZ8I?si=mc1BFvlW-_BPuZdf&t=4568 (this link will take you to just before the train crosses it)
Thx mate and first thing first this is an excellent video and generally quite accurate however without beating around the bush, the inaccuracies you have captured are the level crossing over Bruthen-Nowa Nowa highway- pretty sure the crossing north-east of the Bruthen bulldogs football club was lights and bells (might not have been to be fair) and I'm almost certain the crossing further towards nowa nowa into the Colquhoun state forest at Tambo upper was definitely protected by warning signals and alarms plus not to mention the crossing over the Princes hwy between Lucknow and Nicholson was also. Nonetheless every single other crossing of this line was passive aside from the service st crossing which you have accurately captured with lights and bells
@@CAD390 I accept what you're saying and I expect its like most simulator routes, it is inspired by the area local to the route rather than being an exact reproduction, after all the stations are there but the towns they serve mostly are not seen. If you're interested in the towns and landmarks being in the game then perhaps Train Sim World would be better for you as most of the routes do tend to carry at least accurate representations of the recognisable landmarks and for the most part the crossings are reproduced as they were at the time of significance. The only diagram I can find of Bruthen is at www.victorianrailways.net/photogallery/line_diagrams/Bruthen%207001.jpg which was last updated in 1968. Normally this diagram shows crossings and the only one it has is a "PCR" which is an open crossing with wing fences at the Orbost end of the yard. It is certainly possible it got updates after that as the line stayed open until the mid 80s although it saw almost no traffic so it likely depended how influential the local politician was!

My suggestion is to keep in mind that you are in a control car -- everything has a delayed effect. From driving this a lot, you get problems if you rush to throttle and the brakes aren't fully released. This can be solved by watching the gauges and giving things half a second more to complete

I was born in Scotland, and then I moved to England, and I got to see a lot of English trains and got to see the flying Scotsman while I was a baby but now I’m back in Scotland and scotrail trains, and some network rail cars.
A rich experience. Flying Scotsman is still roving around so you may see it again.
The blue light was my baby and the red light was my mind...
Ah the Stones.
Is it a trestle or a bridge? What's the difference? Going to google now!
That was a rabbit hole. I now know the 7 main types of bridges! 😅
Lolol yes there are quite a few different kinds of bridge, all of ours are either trestles or culverts. One of them is traditional like this one which is entirely constructed of wood. The ones that are less public and harder to access in the forest are a more modern construction with concrete and steel footings and a steel beam deck. They still have wood poles but the poles sit in steel stirrups. Even this traditional one has the base of the poles wrapped in geofabric designed to wick the water away from the poles and make them last much longer than they did when the bridge was first built. Each timber item in the bridge has the year cut into it, the oldest one I've found is from the first bridge construction in 1899.
