My family would always make fun of me for not knowing twi but when they would speak twi i would understand them and I can speak perfect twi myself but oftentimes I would be made the butt of all jokes and any time I would speak twi they would make fun of me not to mention the fact that I am very antisocial and have severe anxiety so I'm just watching this to make sure all my pronunciations are correct and they are! Ghanaians are very humble people, we are so Humble some non Ghanaians mistaken that for timidity. No we are not timid, we were just raised to be respectful and very humble, with that said if you're a tourist please understand in ghana we respect each other so much and we precede each sentence with PLEASE, ME PA WO KY3W (please what is your name, please where are you from, please Where do you stay etc) and THANK YOU is also very important, Me Da Se. If you not Ghanaian and visiting first time i totally understand but i do want you to always remember that is just our culture.

Sadly as an American, I once held this humility with high regards.. until I ran into many Ghanaian men scamming American women for papers and I was very disillusioned with the group of people. Becareful there are alot of pretenders out there and that's part of the culture too. I am personally offended that the Ghanaian men have also learned how to play on women's emotions for selfish reasons.... I'm just here for the Twi lessons

@@dd1ddee I studied Fante at U. of Florida one summer with Dr. Paul Kotey. Then I lived in Ghana for one year to do my doctoral research. I kept learning there with two different teachers, both of whom were excellent. But mostly, once you get the basic sentence structure and some vocab, it's living there and hearing the tones and rhythm. I hope to return soon. Ghana is a fantastic place with great people.

I find this language fantastic, my TWI name would be Kafini. As an Italian American, we have a similar politeness when asking someone to eat with you also, I would be saying "Me nsa aka" most likely with my Italian accent 😁
My struggle is following up in conversations. I can understand some basic ones but when it's a full blown conversation I'm as lost as my brain lol, anyway thanks for doing this. I hope to at least understand better someday even if I can't speak it properly.

They’re very welcome and I’ve been working with them for almost 10yrs and most of them open up to me like family. So I need to learn some of the greetings to start to start communication relationship as well as physical.

One of the biggest akan tribe in ivory coast its baoulé anyin people and they speak twi but in little different dialect.

Jamaicans are typically from Ghana. The word Jamaica mean. “Gyama ya ka” which means “ it looks like we are stuck here” or we aren’t going back” in Twi. That’s why you guys have “Ananse stories like Ghana. One love❤️

I'm born and raised in Germany, with Bulgarian descent. Although I have a huge interest and curiosity for Africa, especially central Africa and the countries close to, or directly located on the equator. Fun fact: Even though Ghana and Germany are so far away from each other, geographically and culturally but they almost share the same timezone, with ghana being just 1 hour behind German time.
I've been to Senegal and like Wolof, Twe has a "familiar" rhythm to my ear. Even though I can't speak either. It's hard to explain, but I like to think it's my ancestors whispering in my ear.

My husband of nearly four years is Ghanaian, but his mother tongue is Ewe. I will never be able to learn Ewe in a thousand years. Thankfully, he also speaks Twi, among a few others. I had begun learning Twi thru the Pimsleur method, which was great, but they didn't recommend seeing it written so that we wouldn't keep our American accents while learning. They believe that babies learn by listening, but there are some sounds that are similar, and it's good to see someone's mouth AND the words so that you can say the correct sounds. I was saying Please as "May pao chow". Seeing it written helped me see where I went wrong. And what a great, calm teaching style you have! Liked and subscribed! ❤️

I love this! I'm a native Akan speaker- Fanti dialect. I learned the Ashanti Twi dialect later in life. You are an excellent teacher!!

I've been to Senegal and like Wolof, Twe has a "familiar" rhythm to my ear. Even though I can't speak either. It's hard to explain, but I like to think it's my ancestors whispering in my ear.
I'm from Ghana and I only speak a little Twi so this helped

I have a brother in ghana (best friend) his kojo.. 6 years friendship..i want to go to visit him one day.. he teaches me twi/fante he has taught me alot of useful words but the pronunciation is what i needed. This is going to be a great video to keep replaying and practising! Mati, medaase! Mepɛ Ghana paa.
My husband of nearly four years is Ghanaian, but his mother tongue is Ewe. I will never be able to learn Ewe in a thousand years. Thankfully, he also speaks Twi, among a few others. I had begun learning Twi thru the Pimsleur method, which was great, but they didn't recommend seeing it written so that we wouldn't keep our American accents while learning. They believe that babies learn by listening, but there are some sounds that are similar, and it's good to see someone's mouth AND the words so that you can say the correct sounds. I was saying Please as "May pao chow". Seeing it written helped me see where I went wrong. And what a great, calm teaching style you have! Liked and subscribed! ❤️
