pyromaniac Exactly! Reing was fun but very teen drama like xD and I was happy to find out there was a new movie for Mary. But it was too long, colorless and boring despite their good acting skills (for Elizabeth and Mary at least).
Yes, Mary I of Scotland was quite well liked by the common Scottish people (catholic and protestant alike) but was hated by the Protestant lords. The treacherous John Knox would preach against her and managed to turn some people against her like the lords who supported her in the beginning, but the scene in the new film where Knox was rallying up a crowd of commoners against their Queen calling her a “white queen” is inaccurate portrayal of Mary’s image in Scotland
I started learning about Mary Queen of Scots in my Year 13 History Class This clip came to my mind so I rewatched it. The next day I realised that I was about 3 lessons ahead of everyone else 😂
Imagine if the show covered the Balkan Wars: "Hello, and welcome to the News at When. When? The 1990s, when the people of Southeastern Europe decided that they couldn't live with each other anymore and started to go their separate ways. Here to explain is Bob Hale, with the Yugoslavia Report." ... "So Lord Carrington comes up with this new plan called the, well, Carrington Plan, which will make all six republics independent. However, the Serbian President, Slobodan Milošević, doesn't want to dissolve Yugoslavia, so he refuses to sign. Guess he 'Slobodan' that idea!" ... "So by now, all that's left of Yugoslavia is the republics of Serbia and Montenegro, and that is the end of that. BUT NOT FOR LONG! Because in 2003 the country decides to change its name to, er, Serbia and Montenegro, and that is the end of that. BUT NOT FOR LONG! Because in 2006, Montenegro finally catches up with everyone else and decides that it now wants independence after all, so Serbia and Montenegro divides into... well, Serbia and Montenegro. And that really is the end of that. BUT NOT FOR LONG! Because just two years later, Kosovo declares independence from Serbia, only this time Serbia isn't quite so keen on losing yet more territory and refuses to recognise it, and that really, really is the end of that. OR IS IT? After all, this is the Balkans, where everyone hates each other, so who knows what will happen next? Back to you, Sam."
The screen with the two crosses make it really funny. I just have to laugh when they flash on like that, especially at the end. "I should have cut the power!" ba-dum ch
I agree, the partners Mary chose ended up becoming her undoing, while her cousin (Liz I) never married and had a rather long reign. The main reason Mary was such a threat to Liz's throne, is because she had a son (James VI/I) while Elizabeth was likely never going to produce an heir.. Yeah.. Henry VIII sure set up a sh!tshow before he died..
Amberlance No really his fault that his kids hated sex and were brutal and bloody. He set the stage for England controlling the seas and brought in the Renaissance.
Hey, he left out the part where two of her most loyal soldiers were tricked into being executed because they thought they were replacing her on the chopping block! [XX] Oh, thanks a lump, Araki!
It made it look like she had something to do with it, which she probably did. In which case she was trying to do a Henry VIII. I don't understand why Mary simply didn't marry, like her cousin. Those husbands of hers were her downfall. A woman monarch back in the day would never stand a chance getting married, because every guy wanting to wed her would only be interested in her position and spend his life trying to manipulate her and reign in her place, which would make one a target to the rest of the court, advisors and such. Elizabeth I knew this, she knew that getting married would only weaken her, Mary didn't and paid the price. Even centuries later we continued to see this, while Albert was alive he basically did the reigning, not Victoria. Victoria only really assumed her position as monarch, meaning started behaving like one, after he died. While he was alive he kept her very pregnant and assumed the duties. The same thing happened between his cousin, King Consort Ferdinand of Portugal; the monarch was his wife, Dona Maria II, the only Portuguese female monarch. But in fact Ferdinand was in charge, kept her pregnant all the time, while he acted as the, de facto, king... and frollicked around with his lover, this Austrian opera singer. Eventually Mary II died of child birth, trying to pop out her 12th child. Albert was basically seen as the reigning king while she was alive, even tho again she was the monarch, not him.
"grows up ... and moves to France". Nope. It should be "moves to France and grows up". She was about 6 years old when she moved to France. A rare Horrible Histories error.
This sketch does in 3 minutes what the film Mary Queen of Scots failed to do: be actually engaging and fun to watch

Well don't forget Horrible Histories was meant to teach kids while making it fun. The film was for an older audience.

Both of them

I expected a sequé to 'Stupid Death'! 😆
The image they use for Francois is actually his grandfather, Francois I. Mary married Francois II. Just in case anyone was curious. :)
The same Francois 1 who beat Henry 8 in a fight just by tripping Henry?
@@carlbirtles4518 Yes. That is the same Francis I .

It's probable that he raped her and she felt she had to marry him afterwards
Yup XD...too bad it may not happened but Larry is a fan of Doctor Who, maybe we could send him a teet?
