  • Stephen Wiltshire is an artist who was diagnosed with autism when he was 3 years old. Though he had difficulty verbally communicating, he loved to draw-and had a remarkable and powerful memory for what he saw. Stephen has turned this into a career as an architectural artist, with the extraordinary ability to recreate cityscapes in incredible detail entirely from memory. His talents have taken him all over the world, and his beautiful work is as impressive as his talents.

N8er_ butter People with autism really often have problems that are hard to notice and will be hidden. For instance social skills are very hard to obtain. For instance all of that stuff around falling in love seems normal for normal people, but autistic people often don't have any idea how things like flirting or dating works (or even, what flirting exactly is).
This video also confuses Savant syndrome with autism. Read Wikipedia or some autism blogs for better info ;)

It is sad that they don't point out that savant syndrome, which causes those "super-human" skills and Autism are not the same.
Most of the savants also have autism, but the chance of having savant syndrome if you are on the autistic spectrum is basically zero.
There are several billion autistic people out there (3.29% of all humans) but only a few hundred people with savant syndrome. (But special interests with good, but not superhuman skills are very common)
And to those, that think autistic people only behave weird and shout around:
    - Some of the people with autism are very sensitive to sounds or lights in their environment, because the brain has problems filtering out the background noise. This may cause that behaviour.
    - Autism sometimes occurs together with Tourette Syndrome
    - They might get bullied, maybe in a very subtle way, which may cause that behavior.
    - Other problems that I didn't mention can also occur.
And: Autism ranges from barely noticeable to very bad disabilities.
Due to that variety it is unfair to throw all of them together. Everyone that is autistic deserves to be seen as an individual. If you see one human that does things you don't like doesn't mean that all humans are the same, too.
