Congratulations, 15 years ago we left the rat race and moved aboard our sailing boat, we had a great 10 years then moved back to the UK and brought a caraven to live full time in. We basically spent the winter in Spain and the summer in the UK. Unfortunately COVID put an end to living in the caravan and also time is catching up with me, however if there is any practical advice or help I can give you please get in touch. It was definitely the right decision to have your own toilet and shower.
Hey James, enjoyed reading your comment sounds like it was quite the adventure 😀 love the idea of living between different countries, it's a shame to hear about it having to end that way but along it was enjoyed and all worth it, really appreciate the offer for advice I'm sure I'll be letting you know! 7 years ago, we moved into our Boeing 767 JET, and we love this alternative idea, and have our Prevost Motor Coach on same 120 Acre Property, that is our Private Runway.
I started out in a Class C and worked as a travel nurse all over the USA. I saved up and bought a home in Sedona, Arizona and rented it out to pay off the mortgage. I tired of hauling in water, hauling out the toilet, too hot, too cold, bugs, finding placed to park and moved into my home as the lease to my tenant expired. As I traveled I spoke to so many older RVers that asked "what will I do now?" as they were getting too old to drive safely, get in and out of the rig, eyesight not so accurate, health deteriorating. I'm grateful to have a home paid off and I do have a van still for play, but. love and appreciate my house beyond anything else. The travels in my RV have long faded, but my house is a comfort as I age.
Congratulations Demi. Twenty years ago, at 45, I too, left a secure and reasonably paid job. Drove my second hand car to almost every towns and cities in my country (Thailand), and later took several trips to Japan. Picked up my old guitar and learned new things from UA-cam. (Have been busking for quite some time now.) Learned to play golf and became a decent golfer. Built a home up north (Chiang Mai) and raised a few dogs. Living a content and happy life. No regrets whatsoever.
I have been seeing the vans everywhere. A man even said to me: what stopping you? It’s my sign…to manifest one. I have a toddler and we need a stable home. I am a carer and I work too much. Lovely Van I'm sure you will love it and have some fantastic adventures. We did the same thing in Australia pre Covid and had an absolute ball for 3 years. One thing (if you haven't already done it) is that I would put an extractor fan over the cooktop especially as you said you love cooking ( I do too). You can fix it under the cupboard which is what we did and it cleans/recirculates the air. The other thing I would do is put a shower curtain in the bathroom to keep the loo dry. It sounds silly but after 1 mth without we did it and it was much better. We fixed the rail to the ceiling and kept it tucked behind the loo when not in use. We also stored a long handled squeegee in the bathroom to get rid of excess water on the floor a lot faster. Happy travels!!!

Melinda! Your comment actually makes me smile so much, thank you so much... new video will be Thursday I'm still getting used to this so I hope to be able to share an exciting adventure coming up in September!
Hi Demi and congratulations! I saw your other video too. That hike was inspiring and beautiful. And Edie seems like a dream dog. Just getting my finances together and I’m getting ready to do the same. I do wish to add from my perspective, after two years of planning and watching Instagram and UA-cam Vanlife videos, it’s definitely not always as glamorous as some make it out to be since everyone films only the best parts obviously in order to get the most views etc., but some have mentioned about having and gone into it not knowing that they can get down sometimes. Seems like for some, it can be from excess solitude or a sense of lack of community. But most i’ve seen will follow up to say the positives outweigh the negatives. A common theme I have seen a lot are when people get lonely in the solitude sometimes but they also talk about how it really helps when they make connections and friends in the van life community. Just thought I’d mention that since i’ll be going solo and I know I’m one of the people who will be taking a hit sometimes in the solitude. Learning about that sense of community with other van lifers has helped me anticipate and me going into this with my eyes open and fewer surprises. I congratulate your courage and sense of exploration and adventure, and Edie’s too! I’m hoping you will continue to share your experiences and journey with us because I’m really looking forward to it :)
I really like the layout of your van, it is quite an unusual one, with the kitchen in the 'wrong' side and the bench-style sitting area-extendable bed in the rear. It feels like it is geared towards living in it for extended periods of time, not just for camping or short-term trips. Also, I am not a big fan of sun pouring through every opening of the vehicle, and I think the two extractor fans combined with the relatively dark and shaded interior of your new home will help keep you as cool as possible during the hot summer days. You should also invest in sun shades-blinds for the cockpit and the side windows, and some type of separator between cockpit and habitation area, both to help with the summer heat and to prevent any prying eyes from spying on you will inside your home. I hope your travels will bring you as far as Greece, you'll enjoy it here.
Thank you for the comment Lomar, lots of little tweeks happening to the van to get it ready... and Greece is on the list would love any recommendations ☺
@@demieverafter It will be my pleasure to recommend places to visit to here in Greece! And there are a lot of them I can assure you of that. Hi Demi, your Dog is so cute, bless drawn too your videos when I saw the cute dog too. Fascinated with camping life too well done taking this leap of faith so brave
Good luck. I think that you'll end up with a permanent single bed on one side of the rear area, to save having to make up a bed every night and take it away every morning. The fridge is on the very small size for a full-time motorhome, especially as you love cooking and may want to prepare dishes to eat on more than one occasion. Nothing like a Welsh Terrier for a combination of fun and common sense. But those fingernails will have to go if you're full time camping!
What a beautifully fitted van and yes l applaud your bathroom and amount of water you are carrying wishing you both wonderful adventures and happy trails will watch for your next video 👏👏👏👏🦮

Congratulations on taking this step, exciting times ahead! Time is the most precious thing we have, and to spend it doing what we enjoy. To have this level of freedom in your life is going to be amazing!
Hello I just found your van and Love how you have done things I'll have to go back and view everything but I'm such a fan already from the USA
Hey David, thank you so so much it really does mean a lot, I'm hoping to start posting weekly with updates and travel adventures...just waiting for dome equipment to turn up... I hope you keep watching and enjoy 😊
@@demieverafter I Certainly will keep watching DO you have a face book to get more traffic to your page or Twitter ? I will do what I can to drive traffic to you
You and Max be careful enjoy your life and may the Lord bless you and keep you safe and your little friend there as well okay just be careful
ha ha, little do you know... most of us vanners chop and change things out furiously for first year.. buy gadgets for cooking, never use them .. buy fancy underlays, then go back to squabs we started with. ..when actually minimal space means minimal life and you soon slip into it. but anyway all part of it. hope you enjoy your travels. good choice of vehicle, reliable and easy to drive. all the best.
Good luck with your new life. I wish you all the best.
Wowsers Demi! Wasn't expecting Max to be such a fancy-nancy! Was sorry not to be able to see you and Michael last week...but very much looking forward to watching your adventures. Best of luck darlings, and safe travels xx
Congratulations you do what makes you happy. If this is it, go for it. Your life and you get 1 shot at it before you die. So live and let live as my beautiful late mum would say. I currently part-time car camp, absolutely love it. I hope to transition out of my home base one day into something less conventional to live a better life for me. You do you. Enjoy your adventure at least you won't have ,'what if?' You did it. 👏🏿👍🏿 solo female part-time car camper
I have just discovered you and I am looking forward to the future and the back story of what got you to this place. I am fascinated with 'Alternative Living' the drivers and realities. The very best of luck to you , I am looking forward to watching more.

My first class b was $12k. I sold it for 20k and learned a lot in the process. You spent a lot of money for your learning process. Best of luck. Enjoy. And don’t forget to purchase a set of grease screens for your frying.
Every thing is possible with money, congrats the van is beautiful enjoy life. 🌈

I’m so excited to watch your journey! I’ll be waiting for another video.
Melinda! Your comment actually makes me smile so much, thank you so much... new video will be Thursday I'm still getting used to this so I hope to be able to share an exciting adventure coming up in September!
Congratulations, I look forward to following you on your adventures.
Congratulations! I wish I could do something like this. I'm too afraid. I love your dog. 💚💚💚
Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing your adventures.
Brilliant video ,what a nice van 👍
Thank you Steven 😄 I'm glad you like it and thank you for watching!
GO DEMI, GO DEMI :) I JUST SUBSCRIBED AND I LOOK FORWARD TO JOINING YOU - IN SPIRIT - ON YOUR NEW ADVENTURES... XX
What a great video!👍…All the best for your travels and adventures ahead!
That would be my dream van. The only things I would add is curtains, blinds and carpet the expose metal rear doors, and a mount for a TV or tablet.
That makes two of us!
good choice, just take care and be safe
Go for it, Demi...
Today will never come back...
Love it , absolutely 💯 👌 😍 🙌 ❤
Incredible video and so inspiring . Thank you ! I wish you joy each day as you follow your path. Love your little dog, so sweet .❤
Enjoy your new adventure.
Good on you , we only have this life live it your way.
Bravo for your courage! Enjoy your life!
Thank you so much, I appreciate the support 💚
Just give me a heads up with sufficient time to do my research with respect to van camping and I will provide you with as many suggestions as possible. And this isn't just a spur of the moment thing, save this comment and get back to me when the time comes.
Amazing, will do that for sure thank you so much Lomar! Speak soon!
@@demieverafter I'm back! This just popped in on my suggestions, a channel called traveller interrupted that came to Greece from the south of England.
Next follow the two parts of their journey up to and their staying here. If you don't trust strangers sending you links you can simply search UA-cam with their name and you'll find them, I'm sure.

That Jello effect from your DSLR.. Yikes... That being said this is awesome!! super brave to go out and do something you've wanted to do!!!
Congratulations Demi! Your enthusiasm is amazing. Have subscribed and will be watching you.
Hey MAX! You share the same name as the van 😄 thanks for the watch, comment and support it means a lot and I can't wait to share more 😀 😊
How brave of you. I’m looking forward to following you on your adventures. Onwards and upwards.
Congratulations, exiting times ahead, we are motorhomers and I can reassure you, it will be fantastic! You may be aware of these Chanel’s already, however they are a good resource Greg Virgo, shows his Sprinter build from scratch, and has guides on installs. Also John and Mandy, great for various help topic. Use search to find then Have a great time !
Hey, amazing! So happy to hear that... and really appreciate the recommendations... so kind of you!
Congratulations 🎉 .
Hi Demi, I just watched your video and was so impressed. I LOVE your new van and am so happy for you. I just wanted to wish you all the success and happiness in your new van-home. I could see the happiness glowing on your face. You are wonderful and very nice. GOD BLESS YOU. I have subscribed to your channel. Best Wishes, Rajeev Bhargava.
This is amazing and less stuff more freedom !!! Congrats
Nice van but I want to hear more about the personal story of quitting your job and why etc.
Me too. I'm at a crossroads and hoping to find inspiration.
Hey Tina, thank you I do love the van, and of course... I'll be going more into that on tomorrow's video I just got very excited about the van! 😊
Enjoy the life!
Thank you thank you thank you...oh I will ! 😊🙌
Good luck!!! Wish you the best 🤗
Good luck, enjoy your dream, you got this 🙏🏻
I've decided to pull the trigger... looking at campervans...hope to get as soon as possible. Side note... she's pretty and I love her voice.
You need thicker seating cushion high density it is more comfortable .also plate and draining rack that runs into the sink good luck air suspension helps with comfortabldriving and high winds and corners i did it 20 years ago in a auto sleeper great fun .met loads of lovely people.
Thanks for the advice Jean!
I haven't had it long but already met some awesome people along the way, exited for the future in the van! Great to hear you had fun doing it 20 years ago... the best memories I'm sure !
I'm all for people doing what they think is right for them. But can I say please don't be like alot of van lifers that have no respect for what the right thing by others means. I camp all the time an see those people staying way past the time there suppose to an leaving crap all over the place. Good luck with all you do .I wish you the best.
Change is an adventure and we all need adventure. I had to sub because I love seeing new beginnings. What a gorgeous home. 😍
Absolutely Kathy! 💯
Thank you so much, I look forward to sharing more very soon 😊
I'm building a van at present, love your double swivel seat. Wish we could get those here in Aus. Great van, im with you on having a loo!
I never knew I wanted the double swivel seat untill I saw it, highly recommended to open up the space, can you not get them over in Aus?
Glad you agree on the loo too...seems like a divided topic 😄
Great van, quite a size! Exciting times ahead. Good luck!
Thank you so much Paul 😄
I am excited for you - yaaaaay! Blessings and safe travels to you and your best friend!!!
Wooooohoo... well thank you for being excited too as I am absolutely over the moon! Appreciate the love! x
Love your video!! Looks like you will have an exciting channel. I looked everywhere to see what make and model van this is ? Did you say? Did I miss it in your video?. Going to watch it all over again ! It's beautiful 😍
Hey Latisha, thank you so much for watching.. I actually still can't believe how many people are watching so it really does mean a lot. And what a great point you make I think I got carried away in excitement and forgot to mention more details on the van (I'm still new at being on camera 😄)
To answer your question the van is a Merced Sprinter long wheel base, high roof 313
If you would like to know more please let me know 😊
@@demieverafter O yeah we're watching thanks so much for responding!! We're all excited for you!! Many of us probably want to do the same thing but just very reluctant. I'm actually in the grocery store and the alert from your channel popped up! When I watched I kept listening for the type of van it was. Thought it was a Sprinter but was listening for the model etc etc so I could look it up. Much success on your channel! It's already a big hit in my eyes! Good for you following your dreams! Blessings
@@latishafranklin2753 thank you thank you LaTisha, your comment and positive vibes are contagious 😊 🙌
Nice van. i wanted to know more about the electrical system (solar and batteries) and the grey water storage
Good for you lady bug! What an exciting time for you! 🙏
I admire the leap of faith! I could see you were nervous about it. Congratulations!
Hey Richard, 👋 thank you very much... I'm not gonna lie it was the most exciting most scariest purchase and commitment I've ever made and I've been smiling ear to ear ever since!
@@demieverafter Would like to know the process of purchasing. How to find it etc. tHanks
Needs a TV for sure and a radio or CD player too lol.
Looks awesome 🤩.
Thanks 👍❤️🙏🏻
An awesome van, well done. Freedom awaits you
Love your story. But what inspired the massive change? 😀
Hey Howard, first of all...thank you I'm do glad you enjoyed the video... second of all I'm so glad you ask, actually quite the story, so many questions about this that I decided to delve into it a bit more I'm my next video on Thursday, I never imagined anyone would be interested but now I know, I can't wait to share I hope you'll watch it 😊
Nice video and thank you very much for this!
