  • Video of my 9 Shank all Purpose Plow. I use this for a lot of my field prep before planting. It's not a Weeding cultivator, But a Implement used to break up the ground Before final Seed bed Prep with either the Disk or Tiller.
    Hope you enjoy.

I call it a field tiller, some refer to it as a chisel plow. Whatever it’s called it’s one of my favorite tillage tools to use because it’s so forgiving. I’ve never bent a shank but have broken a replaceable tooth when I caught it on a rock shelf once.

There are not many applications you can use this field cultivator. It pulls hard and there cannot be much trash on top. The springs are a little weak, and as you've demonstrated, the machine is built a little too light. Ours was a Dearborn, and looks exactly like yours. My Father said some would put 'alfalfa' spikes on for shovels. I always thought that would be too aggressive to aerate a hay field.

I would not want to put anything wider on for points myself, some around our area use these to incorporate fertilize after disking, some use thim to rip the fields up and renovate the pastures, it goes alittle deeper than a disc but not as aggressive as a turning plow. I use it just as you saw, sometimes i go faster with it . And yes they can pull hard on the tractor especially in heavy soil and roots. Thank You for watching
