    This has got to be the most destructive tornado I’ve seen yet! The ASC T-128 sirens sure sound eerie and epic, especially with those echoes. I absolutely love how it gives you a cool “fireworks” display by pretty much disintegrating all of the electrical lines in it’s path. I REALLY hope it didn’t touch any houses though and claim any lives with them

    We were one of the people that were devastated and it was horrible I was at a friends house and my parents were at their house and all the sudden my mom called me and said that my aunt Tony was hurt saverly and was airlifted to st.louis hospital with a broken neck and more severe injuries. And 8months later she was finally out the tornado and is doing amazing now. I just wanted to say that god helped us through the hardest times ever and that we survive

    Stop thru this town now, and then. Nicest people I ever met. They will just come up, and start a conversation with you. Hope the best in their recovery. Great catch on this video.

    I was there when it happened but a little further away. I recorded my point of view and uploaded it but this way better. I tried to help people afterwards but it was impossible to get through due to all the traffic.

    Was driving to see this thing. Started seeing all the power flashes so we turned around. Also took a look at beardstown that night too. Good thing we had to take my grandma back home to my stelring IL. What an adventurous night it was. Praying for those who need it

      Half of Taylorville lost power & those sirens were basically the last warning a lot of us got. My power flickered throughout the entire storm and I knew it had spawned from that point on

    Is that normal to see all that blue for a nighttime tornado?

    I remember tracking this storm on radar before it hit Taylorville.. as soon as I saw that tight couplet my heart dropped..I also feared that the storm would cycle and drop another tornado and head NE towards where I live (Colfax).. which it also did. Luckily we only got minor damage here. Wondering what the survey will say, considering the EMS Alert I got said it was a “large and dangerous tornado”

    Nocturnal Violent Maxi Wedge Tornado 🌪
    Great positioning on the storm as the tornado passes with in a few miles...
    I wonder if a thermal lens / IR could pick-up the funnel better at night of the Full Meso Cyclone

    Why did the sirens stop?

    • @matteng1997
      @matteng1997 5 років тому +7

      They have a 3 minute time limit. They shut off after 3 minutes to prevent the motor that produces the sound from overheating. They can be re-activated however multiple times to generate a longer warning sound.

      @@matteng1997 oh see I didn't know that. I'd be the dummy coming out of my basement after the siren ended.

      They had em go on twice. It was the first time we ever did that. At four they had it go, then at touch down they had it a few minutes before & while it was going on.

    • @stephanieroberts1866
      @stephanieroberts1866 5 років тому +1

      They stop because the system was hit and killed by the storm too no power they will not go off again

      Taylorville's system has battery backup. It was at the end of the 3 minute cycle.
