I just finished this game 2 weeks ago and it turned out to be one of my favorite games of all times. Just an amazing journey. ❤

This is a much darker, more serious game than FF7. ITs totally different to any other FF before it. Its a good game, it just lacks in several glaring areas: Difficulty (WAY too easy / forgiving), lack of loot, lack of RPG elements, and pacing issues. Even with all these issues, the combat / gameplay / story is fantastic. Id give it an 8.7 and FF7 Remake / Rebirth a 9.3 ish. Still a very good game. Hope you enjoy.
Totally agree . I'm still wondering why they made this more mature game but made the difficulties so low especially when compared to the other final fantasy.
@@Sleepingcoffee979I think they should have incorporated arcade mode into the normal main story. The game isn't so much geared towards whether you can beat the enemies, but more so how skillfully and cinematically you can beat them. The only real payoff for being good at the game is you get to use cool looking combinations and you avoid experiencing too much repetition in battle
I'm pretty sure they wanted to lure in more casual players that aren't that familiar with RPGs, and GoT fans.
But if you like this style of FF, then Final Fantasy Tactics might be for you. It's a pretty dark game and actually more grounded that this (no Kaiju battles). It's been called a GoT FF for years long before XVI, but doesn't straight up rip off GoT like this game does at times. The character Delita's journey is more interesting than anything in XVI too, in my opinion. XVI is dark, but its writing is pretty bland, especially for such a long game. Won't go into details, but this intro portion was by far the best part for me. Still, leagues beyond any other Japanese RPG game in the last couple years. Except FF7 Remake and Rebirth that I much prefer, but it's not really fair since FF7 obviously got a MUCH bigger budget.
But like I said, I think its biggest flaw is its overall story. Let's just say no one's going to make video essays about it in 20 years. That, and too few party interactions/dialogues outside of cutscenes.
@@Requinix17One big giant flaw is that the game doesn't care whether you're using all your options or just mash the sword button. There is no incentive to learn the systems except alleviate boredom. The only exception is a "mini game" you can finish in an hour and I was so bummed there wasn't more of that. The DMC games are at most 10-12 hours but this stretches into +100 hours while having LESS incentive to get better (but arguably more abilities).

This was my first FF that I played more than 2-3 hours and I loved it I couldn’t put it down it was my most played game in terms of hours in 2023

Parrying is a lot easier if you use high active frame(and the frame also quick to come out) attack like the lunge. I find it especially easy to pull off consistently when use it against the ogre's Giant Swing (move name).
Haven't actually played it but I think I'll watch your whole playthrough.
Clive is probably the coolest main character in Final Fantasy.. I still love Cloud and Squall and those games better, but he was a refreshing male protagonist for once.
Yes, FF8 is my fave but Clive isnt a teen in his puberty unlike Cloud/Squall

I've been watching all your Fina Fantasy VII videos and now I can't believe you're gonna play this masterpiece... I ain't missing that.
Enjoy your FFXVI playthrough Julia! Please be patient with the sidequests at the first half of the game as they may appear dull like those fetch me items quests or kill this monster.
I promise you the sidequests will get better later on and you will be invested with the side characters in the end like I did!
I didn’t realize it until now, but when Shiva and titan are fighting, they alternate between their respective theme songs when one has the advantage in the battle or when it shifts to the other one

I absolutely loved XVI. bought the collector's edition and I have this beautiful statue of Ifrit vs Phoenix proudly displayed in my living room.
The only thing I'll say negatively about XVI is most side quests can be on the boring side.

You got several Parries in that Malboro fight. Not bad. The most common combo are to mix (and time) Attack + Fire + Attack +Fire. It will add bonus damage to your magic attacks.

You'll have noticed, one of the neat little quirks of the FF series is that "summons" usually are known as different things, gives the different worlds their own charm, among many things, such as Mogs (9 has my favourite mogs... Possibly 6...)

@julia_tv I have to say that this game is truly a remake version of House of Dragons/Game of thrones. Good choice in choosing to play this game. It's going to be a long (devasting) ride

Man, their characters are always so damn good it's not even funny. The VA's, the animations, emotions, just everything. They are so good at what they're doing. Still waiting for the PC release..
I hope everyone stays nice through this, a lot of cringe ff “fans” loved any excuse to hate on this game when it came out, and would go to people playing it just to let them know. Besides so,e sidequest fatique, I absolutely loved this game and I hope you do too! I still gotta finish the latest DLC sometime which I heard was amazing.

A lot of people keep comparing this game to Devil May Cry (and I mean sure, combat-wise) but I think overall it's A LOT closer to God War Ragnarok.

P.S. All the ladies think Clive is handsome, as it should be. Check out Ben Starr, voice of Clive. He comes across as humorous, kind and appreciative - and he's as handsome as Clive! A big Final Fantasy nerd, too. They couldn't have casted the characters in this game any better. RIP to the original actor of Uncle Lord Byron; forgive me for not remembering his name.
I was most impressed with the voice actress of Benedikta. Some of her lines sent chills through my body! Can't say that a video game has done that too many times.
