YEP!! But of course, you have the blind deniers that keep refusing to believe that's where the money went. But like, WHERE ELSE COULD THE MONEY HAVE GONE?? Certainly not into the game, otherwise it could've stayed in 3D and/or not been episodic.
Whether people want to own up to it or not, there was a _bad_ falling out between WPS and TOG and it costed them a good part of their budget money.

I'm still really sad about what happened with The Odd Gentlemen, HiveSwap went from a successful hyped game with 2 million dollars put into production, to a small indie game with hand drawn art, and TOG didn't even get in trouble for it! They got away with stealing millions of dollars for their other game developments! Money from people on *Kickstarter* who contributed their money for something they wanted to be done, and it never was, at least not by the people who said they would do it. Truly awful.
WalkerIsCool. Injurys have occurred but what matters is the game pulled through and survived 😊
This just means that all Homestuck fans will never support or play TOG games. In the end they lose more consumers then gain.
I would say the handrawn art is a plus, but it TOG truly committed a tragedy. Thankfully, the game has pulled through, and we'll see Hiveswap Act 2, and Hauntswitch
okay, have you watched Sarah Z's video about homestuck? TOG might not be the ones responsible for all this, and What Pumpkin probably just spread the rumor to not get sued.

TOG decision to use some of the money in their game is understandable in their point of view but clearly not something you should do in a situation like that and Hussie was dumbass who just told them to make a game and gave nothing to work with (probably because he wasn't interested in working on homestuck anymore)
Extra Fact: There's gonna be a follow up game called Hauntswitch that takes place back on earth with Dammek and Jude

A Random Shyguy because the steam page mentions that there's a 4 part sister series called Hauntswitch which we can only assume is about Jude and Dammek because of the name of the town in which Joey and Jude live
because when joey and dammek swap the name hauntswitch is interposed on th eword hiveswap, but going towards dammek's direction instead of joeys.

i am so confused why they didnt put that in the video. it wasnt delayed 3 years just for homestuck, homestuck AND hiveswap got delayed because of the odd gentleman misusing funds and producing hardly anything.

From what I've heard Hussie got NDA'd by The Odd Gentlemen, so he wasn't ever able to say they fucked him over. And apparently they settled it privately, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hussie got the short end of the stick.
For those who would like to get into Homestuck, but can't really get into it reading wise, there is a youtube series called Lets Read Homestuck. It is fully voiced acted and everything. It was an easier way for myself and some friends to get into it since all that reading can be a bit daunting. I've been a fan of the comic and been cosplaying from it for 4 years now

Understandable, I get that there is a bad rep about it. Given the outfits though, they are pretty good for beginner cosplayers. I do more anime and video games nowadays. But I still had fun with these characters when I did.

There is only one way to Game Over in Act 1. In the attic, if you use anything other than the key or switch to the other person, the monsters barge in and eat Joey.

My favorite Homestuck references in Hiveswap are the sufferer doll and the portal itself. Especially the portal.
The portal and by extension the entire plot of both Hiveswap and Hauntswitch is going to be in some roundabout way English's doing, just like everything else in Paradox Space.

Actually, there is. When the big monster is distracted by the flare gun bursting into flames, you have to run to the attic. Switching to Jude or looking at too many items WILL cause you to get a GAME OVER.
It'll only be a few more years before act 2!
6:03 You actually can die in the game. After defeating the three monsters and running upstairs you can die by 1. Switching control over to Jude, or 2. Click on three objects without going up to the attic

My friend Gabe, who read homestuck told me to play this game, I had no idea what honestuck was. I played the game on stream (go sub to my YT pls) and finished it. Then Gabe bugged me to read homestuck so here I am now. Half way through Act 5 (Act 1). I’d say I’m proud of myself, also the references in hiveswap for homestuck are having reverse effect, I see a dialogue line from hiveswap in homestuck and I’m like,”Ohhhhhhhh >;D you clever boyz” but now I realize where they originated from

Act 2 is now somewhere in sight, granted unpredictable, such as calculating the distance of a tree in the fog, or understanding SBaHJ.
If you actually listen to the official soundtrack, there is actually a song in the game that holds an Undertale easter egg. The song is literally named Spooktune, which is also the same name for it in Undertale itself. I found this yesterday while listening to the soundtrack while working on some character designs.
If I remember correctly it was a friendly mocking edit made by James.
Hey, if anyone out their is interested in getting into Homestuck after seeing the game, there's a series called "Let's Read Homestuck" on UA-cam! It's fully voice acted, and it's a great way of getting into the comic if you don't have the time to read it!
my little cousin started playing Hiveswap he asked me about Homestuck he wants to read it the boy is almost 9 years old he will be so confused and traumatized by act 6 probably sooner than that XD

i’m late but here’s something that i most likely THINK will happen
Since Hiveswap is almost like Homestuck in its own way.
As in: Having a ferocious dictator (In this case it’s Trizza Tethis) which in Homestuck was played by the ancestor we all know and love, Her Imperious Condencesion. Trolls. Alternia. The machine is actually almost like Calliope and Caliborn. These two snake-like animals on the machine make a reference to the cherubs parents.
God Tiers. Already since the extended zodiac came out, looking at the signs on the trolls shirt. Those signs show the blood colour which determines whether they’re considered lowbloods (the lower side of the hemospectrum) midbloods (self explanatory and the fact that they’re in the middle of the spectrum) and highbloods. There’s only about two in this category. Both seadwellers. (Violet and Fuchsia are considered the highbloods. they’re seadwellers and also considered royalty) But anyways, back to god tiers. These trolls have an aspect (rage, light, time, hope, doom, breath, etc) Their aspect determines the fact that when they become a God Tier, they’ll be a paige, knight, witch, prince, rouge, etc of that aspect. They’ll have certain powers over it as well.
DREAM SELVES.

i don’t really know how to explain this. But Joey and Jude with all the trolls, if Derse or Prospit come in this series then, their dream selves serve as and extra life if any of the characters die. and it serves as a god tier body.
But i think that Hiveswap will be more of a game where you read the pesterlogs more than do some actual activity in the game (major homestuck thing) But overall the game will be full of scenarios that are timed and determine your friendships and if you lose or keep them.

the thing is even though the game went through a lot of different people and messy developments, the end result was fantastic. the game felt very comfortable and familiar. it managed to keep the homestuck mood incredibly well. it felt like it belonged in the series, the comedy was timed well, the characters were individual and lovable, the story was paced the same way homestuck was, and it was overall very cute. it was worth the wait, and im sure act 2 will be worth the wait as well.

There is one way to die in hiveswap - once joey gets up the stairs after the strife with the three monsters you have to stand in the upstairs hall instead of going straight to the attic, if you switch back to her brother, it forces you to switch back to joey and it shows her getting swept away into monsters and gives you a game over. However, it starts you rights back from the point so you don't lose game play. You may die but it's inconsequential

But you can die in Hiveswap. When you're running from monsters you can switch to Jude, there's a Joey death scene

I still cant stop laughing about Xefros freaking out when he got pulled out from the rubble and the victory dances from Homestuck...Just one thing I cant get over is the fact that well Im a Pisces and always felt on bottom with that but after homestuck I felt happy that I was a Sea-dweller...until I learned that Highbloods kill the lower bloods. I will do anything to protect the little precious Xefros.

I've been a member of the Homestuck fandom since....2011? 2012? I know I got into it before the world became a literal shitstorm before December 21st. I think I got into it at the end of 2011 beginning of 2012. And, even though I've already finished the webcomic, I'm going to subject myself to emotional rollercoasters all over again, go back over every little detail I missed. Man do I love Homestuck. And this year, I plan to actually do a Sober!Gamzee cosplay for Halloween. I need to purchase Hiveswap buuuuuuuuut....no mons yo.
After all these years....
This takes me back to when I met someone and they showed me what HomeStuck was.
I've been in and out for a while but here I go, willingly going back in and aiming to finish the actual story (I...never got to finish it...) But, if the books are being rereleased, hopefully I can finish where I started.
I actually like the art style for the game too. it's cute and better than what HomeStuck had (not that it's bad)

toby fox has actually been making hs music LONG before undertale, and while you mentioned he's been making music for Homestuck as a fan, he's behind a LOT of the more well known music in the comic
megalovania is a huge one- its in both HS and Undertale, and there's really way too many songs to count/remember. why do you think theres so many homestuck references/a homestuck feel to the writing in undertale? because Toby Fox was a HUGE part of HS as a whole. i'm really glad he stayed on the team and gave us some fantastic music for hiveswap!
hey hussie and fox have actually been friends for a long ass time and fox even lived in hussies basement while he was developing part of undertale and has written multiple songs in the hs soundtrack lmao

Correction there is 2 ways to get a Game over when Joey runs back upstairs after getting the Attic key if you wait to long the monsters catch up, or if you switch to jude after stopping at the top of the stairs
Fun fact I'm surprised wasn't in the video, the reason What Pumpkin Games was created to take over for The Odd Gentleman is because The Odd Gentlemen stole over half of the money raised in the kickstarter for Hiveswap. They used it to make their own game King's Quest. Thus why they had to streamline it so much hence the change of artstyle from 3d to 2d. Honestly I like it better like this but you still don't steal over 1,000,000$ from someone esp when they got it from a kickstarter.

You can die one time in hiveswap,interact things when the monsters are chasing you after the last strife
you missed the fact that "Pa" as he is referred to in game, is actually beta Jake, who is also jade's adoptive father in homestuck, and the babysitter is beta Roxy, who becomes Rose's adoptive mother.
Heads up at around 6 mins in it's stated that there's no way to die in Hiveswap, but on my first play through of the game, I did in fact accidentally kill Joey. So keep your eyes peeled, it's not just a basic puzzle without an consequences when you go to strife :P
