  • Once you complete at least one (but not all four) of the main missions and return to the Citadel, Rear Admiral Mikhailovich will be waiting for Shepard at Dock 422.
    As you can't walk past him, you will be forced to engage in a conversation with the admiral. If Ashley or Kaidan are in your party, you will hear some unique opening dialogue from them.
    After a brief introduction, the admiral will reveal that the Normandy was meant to become a part of the 63rd Scout Flotilla which he is in charge of. The admiral then proceeds to criticize the ship's design and demands to make an inspection of the Normandy.
    Shepard can either brush him off or allow him onto the Normandy.
    If you allowed the inspection, Mikhailovich will have found plenty of things to criticize about the Normandy. He will comment on the design of the CIC, the ship's drive core and finally, the presence of aliens on Shepard's crew.
    You can pick a variety of options to try and dispute his claims, though only the Charm or Intimidate options will give you a chance to change his overly negative opinion. The admiral's final verdict will depend on how many Charm/Intimidate options you picked.

      It sounds like they just have the same internal heat sinks like Normandy which frankly isnt exactly a difficult thng to come up. Take the most heat-absorbing thing you can get your hands on and make some heat sinks out of them.

      @@eight-cloudspurple5871 There are only three top-tier stealth ships established in the galaxy. The Normandy SR2 used stolen plans from the SSV Normandy which was a revolutionary new design, so you're arguing that the quarians, a race that lacks shipyards, was able to independently develop this technology not held by any of the other three council races?
      Sure, sci-fi solutions seem obvious since we are able to pick apart what an author can come up with using the known physics of today, but within the context of the universe, this either isn't an obvious approach or an obvious material.

    This is a complex conversation, damn. Also Mikhailovich's word choice is so funny. "Bass-ackwards" "Don't break your arm patting urself on the back" I gotta admit he's pretty funny. He was right after all, SR-1 was indeed an tinfoil gimmick, as shown at the beginning of Mass Effect 2 against Collector ship.

    • @ciggybutt2532
      @ciggybutt2532 2 місяці тому

      That's hardly a reason to consider the SR-1 a gimmick though, isn't it? Apart from the fact that several of ME1's missions couldn't have been completed without the stealth system, the SR-1 was ambushed by a larger and arguably even more advanced warship, which is a worst case scenario. Let's say Mikhailovich was right, and the Alliance bought a heavy cruiser instead; would a heavy cruiser really have fared better during the collector attack being ambushed in the same way? At least Normandy's evasiveness gave the majority of the crew time to get to the escape pods.
      Plus, when the SR2 was built, lessons were learned from the loss of the SR1, which allowed it to be stealthy AND still capable of combat. Without having field tested the concept of the SR-1, the SR-2 wouldn't have been possible.

    • @SlideIX
      @SlideIX Місяць тому +3

      Not really, it could stand up to ships from other militaries of a similar technological level. Comparing any race’s capabilities against the collectors or reaper forces is like comparing 18th century Galleon to modern warship equipped with radar, its just completely different league of technology and firepower.

    • @baddoer
      @baddoer Місяць тому

      @@SlideIX Disagree. A simple armor upgrade to SR-2 was able to withstand collector strike in Suicide Mission. This shows technologies were not quite in different leagues after all.

    • @SlideIX
      @SlideIX Місяць тому +3

      @@baddoer I also disagree with your assessment and here is why.
      In the opening SR1 got merced from a direct hit from the collectors but 2 years later at the end the SR2 required a base upgrade of the ship and 2 specific upgrades to survive glancing blows and despite it surviving it still got trashed. The main difference between those 2 scenarios (other than the upgrades) is that the first time they were taken by surprise but the second time they knew they were flying into a battle so Joker had a chance to actually manoeuvre and evade. Collector and Reaper weapons are just that much more powerful that it required cutting edge tech, piloting skills and some luck not to get absolutely bodied in an encounter, ME3 helps prove this with the fact Reapers annihilated fleets of ships with little effort.

    • @baddoer
      @baddoer Місяць тому

      @@SlideIX You just proven my point. "by surprise" does not mean cutting technological advantage. You can take a boxing champion by surprise using a brick from behind. SR-2 got trashed yet it was able to fly away and survive to next game and it did even survive crucible blast. SR-1 was nothing like that.

    Ah, Mikhailovich and his notorious spite for Turians. As much as he feels like a walking roadblock, I do have to give him at least one point on a technicality: as much as we all love the Normandy, I think saying it saved their lives "a dozen times over" is an exaggeration. Besides having to make a hasty evac on Virmire, I don't think there's any particular mission in ME1 that needed the Normandy's particular tech. Even then, Virmire would have to happen after this conversation. At least that's what I remember, I could be missing some story details since it's been a while since I played ME1.

    • @kristaskrastina2863
      @kristaskrastina2863 8 місяців тому

      There was also a hasty evecuation from Therum because saving Liara caused the ruins to collapse. So there was one time before Virmire when it was used.
      Mikhailovich is still an idiot. He commands the Scout Flotilla but can't appreciate Normandy's scouting abilities demanding raw firepower from a light frigate!

    • @thomasfevre9515
      @thomasfevre9515 7 місяців тому +5

      It's not a gross exagerration, it's a direct lie. This scene happens in the beginning of the game, the ship has just had it's first mission where it served essentially as a glorified troop transport. I'm in the middle of ME3 right now and there's no single mission where the cloaking tech is used, not even the suicide mission with the SR2.

    • @Elitex62
      @Elitex62 7 місяців тому +22

      @@thomasfevre9515 I mean, the fact that the Normandy rarely gets in a space battle is due to its stealth tech. They make it a point that only the Normandy can maneuver in Reaper-controlled systems without being noticed. It's quite possible that the Normandy has slipped past several pirates and Heretic geth fleets during ME1 and ME2. I'd count not getting into fight against larger ships as saving their lives.

    • @thomasfevre9515
      @thomasfevre9515 7 місяців тому +5

      @@Elitex62 fair enough but it would have been nice to see a cutscene where the use of the stealth is more concrete. Given how detailed the codex is, i would have expected to actually see gow the internal temperature inside the ship is rising after a prolonged use of the tech, when the heat sink is saturated. Or maybe i just wanted a sweaty shirtless scene.

    • @cleomi8696
      @cleomi8696 7 місяців тому +2

      By the point this scene takes place, the Normandy hasn't done anything any other ship couldn't. While the Normandy's cloaking tech is useful (especially against geth ships) it only has been effectively used once in ME1, during the arrival on Ilos.
