Dear UA-cam friends, this is where its at and where it has ALWAYS been at! The 2.55 legacy is Coco’s legacy. Everything else is just noise and gossip. 1955 marked an important milestone for the fashion, style, pop culture and perfume worlds! 1955 sees the birth of extremly important creations: the 2.55 bag, Chanel’s Pour Monsieur masterpiece perfume and also Walt Disney’s Disneyland opens its doors for the first time ever! 1955 was a year of dreams and hope. The second World War was a decade in the past and people were celebrating La Dolce Vita! Coco just returned to the fashion scene in 1954 to heavy French criticism but by 1955 American socialites and fashion magazines named her the Ford of Fashion! After that, France could no longer look away and could no longer snob her! In this new spring, Coco launched the legendary 2.55 bag! Adding metal chains as shoulder straps to free the wearer’s hands in a fast paced new world! The chains were in metal so nobody could speed by the wearer on a motorcycle or vespa, cutting leather or fabric straps with scissors and stealing the bags! Coco solved that issue elegantly and with class. The 2.55 bag sits on a special throne surrounded by the best of World times in modern history. 1955 was a year of hope and positive outlooks towards the future! Despite all the odds, the 2.55 bag is still to this date (in my humble opinion) the biggest fashion and style symbol of hope and positive returns! Its a true testament to Coco’s brilliance, survival skills, design genius and love of beautifully practical stylish objects made to aid us through our busy everyday lives! In other words, The 2.55 is not just the past and present! The 2.55 is the Future! Let me know your thoughts and I hope you enjoy this video and check out my Chanel 2.55 Bag Exposed Video Next! ua-cam.com/video/44lb9RH9uRk/v-deo.html
I used my first winnings to buy a canvas LV and in less than two years the wallet was cracked/broken in multiple places and the store refused to repair or replace it. I don't know what kind of resale value such junk could have. I ended up donating it...well, maybe I might buy a fake LV from *condup* but these designers/robber barons don't even think about taking another penny from me.
Aww 🥰 Dacob! Wow 🥹You initiated in me the love for this bag! I own three of them now: a 226 from the 2005 reissue with engraving inside, a 227 in denim and a mini in beige. Oh and a 2.55 WOC in fuschia. I visited her tomb last Sunday, I wish you were there too. You should write a book Dacob really !!!!
Although I could buy many Chanel or Hermès bags every month, the bags I buy are much cheaper and they are all from *condup* . I don't want to worry about the bags being stolen or damaged. I'd better leave the money I save to my parents, Or donate to charity.
When is Chanel going to put you on the payroll, have you start a training school for their SA’s and give you your overdue cut? You are HANDS DOWN one of the most well informed people about Chanel on the planet!
I really think they ignored the price just for the label. No matter the quality, nothing on this planet is worth $15,000 a bag. But I spent 200 on a super treasure from *condup* and I no longer blame people who buy fakes.
I could listen to this video all day long! I always enjoy the history and details even if I saw your older video it’s still a pleasure. Thank you Dacob! ☺️
Always love hearing the history along with the bags. The books you've recommended really are wonderful and I've learned a lot about her life, and her heartbreaking story--from so much pain came so much beauty and love through her creativity. Also loved seeing the photo of Coco's jersey bag. I continue to look for them, and that beautiful red interior always makes me smile.
Thank you Rachel! 🙏🏻 I also just added and pinned to the top of the comments my little historic text just to give a bit more perspective to the historic time-frame in which the 2.55 was first released. I originally wrote this text for my dacobcc chanel instagram fan account post about the 2.55 bag but now decided to share it here as well. 💖
Love this! I bought this bag after watching your earlier video on 2.55. Bought it preloved and it still smelled wonderful (just as you said). Ah! It’s a beautiful bag and I’m holding it as I’m watching this video and doing everything you’re doing on the video! Haha I’m nuts and it’s all because of you! Thank you for sharing the history - makes me love it (and you) even more ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻🥰 and this is something I often think to myself: after all these years of being on UA-cam myself and making so many videos about the 2.55 bag and its history, I feel like quite a few of us 2.55 lovers bonded through the years and rough these videos. It feels like a community and I love it 😊🥰💖
Super interesting video! Would love to see more videos like that on other bags from Chanel or any other fashion house I'm learning so much from you all the time C Xoxo from Canada
Call me crazy but I just can't stop watching this video of yours, you are literally a walking dictionary for Chanel, It is amazing how informative this is, thank you so much for clarifying all those myths.
Yet another still lectured history lesson told by Monsieur Fashion Bunker. Always much to learn and glad you're sharing your in-depth knowledge of Chanel with us.
Great video, Dacob!! I have a Chanel bag similar to yours in the black jersey. I still believe you are the EXPERT when it comes to Chanel. Coco would be proud of you!! I went to my walk-in closet and grabbed my Chanel 2.55 Reissue, and I wanted to hold it during your video!! I'm in love with this bag and my other 16 Chanel handbags! They are masterpieces!!!
Thank you for this enjoyable and informative history Dacob! You always make me laugh and I learn new tidbits from your archives. More people should actually learn about heritage and design. With all the misinformation out there in the internets, and so many UA-camrs not really understanding what they own, I’m just delighted when you esssplain the real deal and record it. You deserve credit from Chanel for elevating them while they consistently dumb down their own buyers and their own products. ❤
I really enjoyed watching this video very informative and interesting information. I love your channel and I’m glad I found it. I truly appreciate your honesty reviews, and how you are influencing others to do the same even when you don’t get credit where it is due. Thank you, have a lovely day
Hi-I love your videos and your passion for your collection. It’s because of you that my first Chanel bag was my 2.55 in the in the same size, color way and hardware as yours. I wanted the classic OG Chanel bag. Your detailed descriptions and historical review of your bag was my inspiration. love her, she’s my favorite 😍
Dacob!! Thank you for posting this! Just purchased my first 2.55 (mini so black reissue) and am enjoying learning more about her! Your channel is so fun and love your passion and energy ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love you Dacob! Set all the bs Chanel fanatics straight 👏🏼💫 I love when you show your classics😍🤗 we want more more! Showing us Coco’s own 255 was awesome 👏🏼

Sorry, I am so late ! Listening to your very interesting story about the 2.55 I have just discovered that I ordered a preloved 2.55 mini reissue bag from the 50th anniversary collection! In fact from pictures I can see the 2.55 and 2005 written on the interior flap!! What a lovely discovery. I have been looking for a preloved Chanel bag to gift to my daughter who graduated this year (but it is secret), I have been looking for a special one since months, just this week I saw this mini 2.55 as new entry in a preloved bag website and immediately I realized it was the right one, it should arrive in a few days. Thanks for this additional information which gives a even special vibe to my purchase 😍 You are always Nr 1 🎉

Loved the video! I had bought a grey anniversary edition bag a few years ago in the 226 size! I didn’t even know or pay attention to the horizontal stitch, so I when you mentioned it, I immediately looked at it and was ahhh! Very informative, educational video! I enjoy watching your videos very much! Thank you!!
👏👏👏 love it!!! I always loved this bag but never had the chance to get it. Going to Japan in 2 weeks, had not planned to get anything, but now hoping to find a 255 there!!!!
Dacob you should call yourself a fashion historian because that's what you are. As a buyer I dig into style and quality, but you dig way way deeper than that. And in the light of your movie promotion and channel growth you may consider creating a Wiki page for yourself. You are at this level already, no need to be humble.
Thank you for sharing the history of the 2.55. It’s my favorite from Chanel-obviously not as popular as the Classic Double Flap but beautiful in its simplicity and style. ❤
I have a mini and a 225 and now I want a 226, but am trying to tell myself it’s too much of the same bag! 😆 I just love it though and 226 is a great size
In recent years, I keep seeing regret videos talking about the popped stitches on their classic flaps that ppl got from Paris for $10k. And they all think the back is a pocket. And I mentioned that it's not meant to be used as a pocket. And now their bags are in "repair" and they're afraid to use the bag.
I have been owning this back since 2010. Love reissue 2.55 227 is my size. I had to let my classic medium flap go after this bag and that’s my biggest regret ever in my life 😢!!!
Thanks for the information…this help me for take care my chanel bag spesialy 2.55.. i realy love this bag, n feb last year my husband give me this bag for valentain day.. now i can undestand why the side model Of the bag is like a amplope😊… n what the fuction of that.
There is a reason why I said it but you obviously missed the point otherwise you would not be commenting so sure of yourself. Love how you thought you did something there. 😂
I bought exactly the same bag last year and it is very easy to use. But my jewelries are all gold, and I am considering to buy a new 226 with goldware, it is also suggest by the sales when I bought the 226. The goldware seems more bright, make me look more shiny, but the combination of the leather and ruthenium hardware is truly amazing and harmonic. I want to save my money and time, but I can't stop thinking about it. 😖 What is your best opinion?
They are real! Yes… except for one strand… Coco mixed in a glass pearl strand or two in with her real pearls. Of course it is O.K. to mix them. Adds to the mystery and myth…
I also feel moved by Coco’s story, she inspires me, I love listening to her speaking on interviews, she was so straight forward with her words and many people judged her as self centered and mean. I don’t believe she was mean. But given the context in history for women those days…I think she maybe had no choice but to become such a strong woman, she challenged perceptions! That’s so revolutionary for her time and she wasn’t “wife material” for those men.
According to Reuters, Chanel sales in the United States have slowed to a single-digit growth rate over the past six months. Chanel and LV with their aggressive price gouging will soon learn that many people will not have the excess money to buy their stuff anymore. No more free pandemic money and student loan repayments starting in a few months. When it comes time to choose a new bag or a roof over their head people will pick the latter.
I don’t think they are worried about losing a lot of their customers. They are more worried about their bags becoming too accessible to the common man. They want the wealthy to buy their bags and RTW and the rest of us to aspire to own a piece of their brand in the form of perfumes, nail polishes, etc .
Sorry Dacob I had a quick question, the picture that you used for Coco's purse was from which book? Also, have you ever thought of visiting the Dallas Museum of Art where they have a replica of the interior rooms from Coco Chanel's La Pausa villa? I guess the owners that purchased the villa after her, decided to make a replica for the museum.
Burgundie is not a nundress color what i can recall and it would be easy to check Up IF THE nuns had this color of not. What Will people has for story about Chanel 2035? Maybe Then they have dacobstorys about THE bag att Chanel. Everything is possible. Love to se a man with pearls! So baroque
dont bend the bag it will break! as far as im concerned, these flap bags only have one "pocket" its the biggest one haha. Its a bag with no functioning pockets, dont use any of them!
In a way you are right. The pockets on the 2.55 are all delicate and one should only use them to store flat objects like credit cards, business cards or papers… the front pocket is usable for maybe a smart phone as flat as possible but I would also not use the back mona lisa pocket and I would personally never use the current lipstick compartment either. 🫣
Now THAT was a Masterclass! It’s true that you could be called a fashion historian and a fashion poet. It’s a form of meditation to watch your videos. 🤍🌹

Since Chanel uses nuns in their marketing do they at least give some proceeds to orphanages?
Thats a good question… I do not have an answer to that question but would really like to know… I do, however fear I already know the answer…

I don’t believe she was mean. But given the context in history for women those days…I think she maybe had no choice but to become such a strong woman, she challenged perceptions! That’s so revolutionary for her time and she wasn’t “wife material” for those men.
That is very well put Brenda. She was definitely lightyears ahead of her time.
Belt bags give off major li'l old lady vibe.
Belt bags as in fanny bags or did you mean other bags?
@@SuperDacob The fanny bags.
The downside to watching your channel is I regret not having bought these items when Chanel still had good quality and "reasonable" prices.
I often think to myself: “if only I would have bought more back then…” 😅

I love the fold it‘s so hot lol kinda?
🤣🤣🤣😏
I like the yours better.
Thank you 🙏🏻

@@SuperDacob yup, just paper or cards for the other pockets...IF they manage to escape the display case :(
Second.

In other words, she was a delusional and pathological liar who kept telling lies about her past.
Now THAT was a Masterclass! It’s true that you could be called a fashion historian and a fashion poet. It’s a form of meditation to watch your videos. 🤍🌹
