Wonderful presentation of a lesser-known train! A fascinating train that was discontinued about the time I was old enough to go down to the station to see it. Train 43 was the train that received permission for discontinuance, then the CB&Q stopped the train just short of Alliance, NE and put everyone off! Big black eye for the railroad. Denny, you did a nice job on your train. I'm looking forward to seeing more Burlington stuff.
In 1962 I rode the Rock Island from KC to Twin Cities, then west on NP's North Coast Limited to Billings and came home on #42-20 . the service was a bit reduced from the description in this video, which more closely equates to what you'd find in the 50's. the crew called it the "Cowboy Zephyr".
