Long story short, I saved the plastic fragment, then patched across the break line using a thin steel patch plate, JBWeld epoxy, and a few small screws into both the main piece and the broken tab. The sound bar sits loosely in its appointed slots, so the extra hardware bits and thickness are not a problem.
In the 97-01 those are 6 to 6.5" circular (advertised size sometimes varies by brand, but they should fit with screw mods). I went with 2-way coax for the rear and 2-way components for the fronts, and put the tweeters at the door corner trim where the upgrade stereo option would have placed them.

Ahh dude, in part 1 you broke one of the two tabs on the rear sound bar and said the repair would take place in part 2. I didn't see it.

How do you put new headliner material over the new soundbar?
Pull, stretch, tuck, use lots of glue. The material I was using was overstressed at the back corners which is why I added the stitch arcs to hold it.
