I really wish more opticians would follow the advice here and not just try to sell based on fashion, selling the most expensive frames and thinnest lenses by default. This unfortunately is the norm, and not always the best for the patient.
I couldn't agree more! If we're doing our job... the sales will take care of themselves. We don't need to rip people off or make them feel uncomfortable.
I’ve been wearing glasses/spectacles for 32 years and I’ve never had anyone take that much time to find me a nice pair of glasses. Cool video for sure …thanks
That's unfortunate! Because opticians should be doing most of that! The color cloth swatching is a bit outdated but no less illustrative. If you live in a licensed state, always make sure to request and work with a licensed optician. They will generally be more knowledgeable and should do more of these things.
What a great video, perfectly put together and very easy to understand. I work for the largest opticians in the UK, where is this impressive opticians and how do I get a job working with this incredible woman !?????
Itachi Uchiha how did you go about getting your job? Did you go to school? There are no schools around my area at all. Interested but feeling lost on how to get started. Thanks in advance
I'm looking for two-pair of new specs. I've £500., to spend, with an NHS Voucher. Previous specs have skin-depth lines on my temples. One of my ears is 8mm lower than the other. I've never experienced spectacle fitting as shown in this video anywhere. I usually have varifocals with many additions. Purchasing specs online is OUT! Thank you, Sally Bates and Optometry Today for this truly excellent video.
Did you make that trial frame set with clip on adds and a spectacle frame? Referencing the kit you use at the 30 min mark. Can you reference where to buy it? Thank you for the great video
Just a little FYI, as an LDO from Miami, I wanted to let you know that your red frames are resting on your cheeks. It doesn't look like they are the right fit for you.
First of all don't be a jerk. Second of all many people feel their glasses fit more securely when they touch the cheekbones. And when you take into consideration the improved vision from panto in a multifocal lens, of course peoples' glasses will often touch their cheeks.
I really 👍 liked those blue & gold eye 👓 glaseses on that client, they really fit her face nice nicely & they were very stylish & they also made her look younger! 😃
Wonderfully presented in every way in regards to sales but just a bit too much emphasis on this aspect especially as it was not what I expected. Rather I expected a lesson on understanding my prescription and choosing flattering styles but I do think this is a teaching video for the workplace.
Hi I was wondering what kind of glasses should I get? I have a circle face w/ highcheeks. My husband says for me not to get ones that sit on my cheekbones. Because they make me look old. I'm going to my eye doctor appt soon. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hello, I was just wondering what shape of frees should I get for my glasses. Because I have high cheek bones. I have a small bridge nose. Can you please help me w/ picking out my frames. I'm going to the eye doctor soon
Better than the lady that helped my son. She just grabbed the most expensive pair and gave them to him, and being a boy, he agreed immediately that those were it and he was done. After that, it was like pulling teeth to get him to try on anything else. $600 dollars later, here we are.
+Blacksquareable Hi- obviously, Jakes position is that the spend 45 minutes about themselves - an NO TIME to help YOU GET OUT OF IT. You must get out of it by wise science .
As an optom student I would just like to clarify not all opticians/optometrists focus on sales but rather they want to help people and are fascinated by vision/eyes. However, I can agree this lady's attitude/advice makes her seem sale focused. Her job is nothing more than optical retail, but I can say she seems great at her job!
I think she comes across as professional, and is informing the patient of their choices based on their lifestyle. How would you advise she communicate the key features and benefits? Afterall, not all consumers are as cynical as you and want to be well-informed and know their choices. Some are willing to pay for professional advice.
Poor Judith, that was quite the ordeal. This Sally women is a bit much, I would absolutely hate to be served by her, it seems she did an afternoon training on NLP and now thinks she's queen of sales. Her insincerity is cringe. Also, as someone else mentioned, POLYCARBONATE!? Jesus, what a shitty choice of lens material, enjoy your chromatic aberration Judith. I'd go Specsavers if I were you.
Mr.Stache they technically don’t have the best optics, at least not as good as most high index plastics. However poly is covered by most insurance as well as being more shatter/ scratch resistant.
@@hugoboss0011 Its Abbé number makes poly more likely to show slight color fringes when looking through the lens periphery. It is not terribly objectionable to me.
Wow.. This is a weird mix of trying to be helpful and trying to manipulate people. 😬 Reading people in order to know how to best help them is different than reading people to know how to manipulate the situation to make a sale. 16:00 What the? Yuck.
you are the most caring and precise eyeglass lady ever!! thank you!
Let's make a reservation to see her in the UK,. :) Lol

Instead of me as a glass wearer watching this, every optician should watch this.
This video is so helpful! Thank you Sally! So glad I came across it😍

I cut hair. Everyone has uneven ears! So crazy!
You're not alone. : )
This is a very informative video. Because my eye doctor does talk to me like you were in the video
Where do you buy your optical calipers? The supplier I use for tools doesn't have anything near that comprehensive.
Very excellent presentation spot on I wish every one must visit ur shop and expertise 😉

Brilliantly done
Very nice demonstration.
i love how you adjust the glasses for people with no ears
Great.
Can you help me go from 20/50, to 20/20, naked eye?
I need it for FAA flight qualified.
Is that change reasonable.
Or should I do it myself?
Can you show me the ‘ requirement form ‘ that you give the patients ?

Can this service be provided for international clients?
wow wished i saw this a long time ago!
Thank you 💕
That touching the ear part is weird if it doesn’t do anything. 🤓
How can I be a qualify Optician ?
Please 🙏 help me. I want to be an optician.
How does this help me to get out of myopi? Go from 20/40 to 20/20?
Well, I think that all depends on whether you choose the tortoiseshell or the plastic frames.

Nice Ma'am.
Always be closing. ALWAYS be closing.
Excellent wish I lived near u
I feel manipulated!
a 2mm Difference whaaaa?
Talk about manipulative and deceitful behaviour. Nothing but a glorified salesperson. This just confirms my suspicions about opticians.

Deceit is when you have hateful intentions and manipulation isn't always a bad thing she is being very upfront and transparent imo.
Where do u work
The title should read how to be a psychopath!!!
I prefer plastic not wire fram
The lady getting frames looks like Mrs Thatcher..just saying

James, are you really that ignorant or are you just being a dick?
Why would you not recommend polycarbonate?

"I don't mind, as long as it fits me" is a logic too seldom seen today.

Exposing the deceptive self-serving sales tactics. Have had these people ruin brand new expensive frames.
