Oh my Tessie love yout old journals. What a treasure.
Thank you for showing your bountiful Blessings! 🌻🏡
Oh my Tessie, how i would just love to have a store like that here😊. My heart just jumped for joy, looking at all the bounty. My grandma was born in January 16,1889.She lived to be 106 only 3 months shy of 107. She told many stories of farm life, all the changes she saw throughout the years.
Well Said Homeboundmama 🙂

I agree. Your larder IS very lovely to look at.
It’s fun shopping at the Amish store.
Tessie, you are a very wise person to have stored up food items like that. Beautifully organized and displayed. 😊
The old books, diaries and ledgers are fascinating to me. Love learning how they lived and the things they bought back then.
I like to see how they lived in the olden days❤❤
There is a British farm series on youtube the Edwardian Farm, The Victorian farm,ect.@@kerryjames6312
What a treasure you have to have those old ledgers and diaries. Not many people can say they have samples of their great grandparents handwriting.
Nice store. Really enjoy having dried vegetables mix for a little extra soup help. Thanks for the video.
I went to a museum here, it had a ledger from a woman who sewed and mended clothes, for the men that worked here. Sweet to see what she wrote so long ago. Sad as well. Little cabin box houses, I guess they stayed in as well.
Oh I really miss being able to go to the amish stores. And I don't know anybody that goes anymore. It would be so cool if I could find somebody that would go out there so that maybe I could get a ride with them. But I enjoyed it when I had the chance in the past.
Hey Tessie, I have not heard the word larder in a long time so i looked it up and learned a simple living history lesson tonight. Now i know you know all of this but what i learned(from watching your video tonight and talking about your larder 😉) back in the day they would store meat in lard in the coolest place they could find, so from lard comes the word larder. Never heard that before. Thank you for this video tonight and I will type at you soon my sweet sisterfriend 👍🤗💙🙏
Good evening pretty Tessie ❤ Tomorrow we pack up the house into the truck.
Tessie, I am staring my larder with dry goods I have saved many jars for this it's good to have dry goods I'll be making soup all winter your larder is amazing enjoyed seeing the old ledger too very interesting to hear how folks worked back then :-) Love you my sister :-) God Bless You and Ken :-)

😂 I had bread 🍞 with sesame seeds on it! ❤ I got inspired to go 🚶♂️ back to the store and buy bags of Sesame seeds. I bought 😊 3 types.
#1 regular sesame seeds
#2 toasted sesame seeds and

They'll be great on all kinds of things like 👍 bagels 🥯 and other baked goods. I even heard some put it on their chicken 🐔 😳 baked of course!

Hello, linda!
Hi Linda H 😊
What is the difference between pastry flour and other flours? Maybe you could explain some of the older words, like "LARDER" for those who are not familiar with them. You know the meanings, but maybe people in other countries might not. Don't fold old books as the spines will crack! Treat them gently! Great family memories to have! God Bless!
yes I really wanted to do that I totally forgot I will make sure I do it next time in my videos
What treasures! So glad to hear they are still in the family and being appreciated. Thank you for sharing with us.
Tessie, I really like the nice music very relaxing and calming and I like the saying from Laura Ingalls :-)
I Completely Agree With You Owen.

Hello Tessie you just reminded me that I need to go to our Minnenite market soon. Thank you for sharing this video 📹 ❤️.
Maybe you can photograph the pages of those ledgers and diaries to preserve them in "the cloud" (whatever that is...) in case the fragile old paper eventually crumbles. Those old records are such family treasures 😘
That's a great idea! I'm not sure what a professional book restoration expert would say about laminating the pages. I think they might not advise that, but I'm pretty sure that photographing them and preserving them online would be considered very safe.
Thanks for sharing! Blessings ❣️❣️

wanda I wanna take a moment and say thank you for all the beautiful comments that you have given our daughter you have been so supportive of her and I just wanted to acknowledge that I admire you and I am so deeply moved by your kindness towards her on her channel thank you
I love your pantry. And having things from the past is so cool, when you love the old style of living. Since a few years I know quite a bit about my heritage, and that brings a certain feeling :)
The photos and journals are such treasures, thanks for sharing them with us.
Tessie, your ledger book from one of your hubby's ancestors is such a treasure. I know that your children and grandchildren are going to be so glad that you kept it and value it. What a shame it would be to lose something like that!
I noticed the quotations from Laura Ingalls Wilder in this video -- especially the one where she mentioned about how many household items the family could fit into their wagon as they traveled west. I've often been amazed at the fact that the Ingalls family could travel so many miles in that wagon with "Pa's" fiddle among their possessions without it getting broken! That must have taken some careful packing and unpacking!
Also I have to say how pretty the handwriting in that ledger book was! When you think about the fact that Amish kids go to school just through the 8th grade, that's amazing. And of course, there had to be some knowledge of arithmetic too in order to keep accounts and to be able to set prices and pay wages. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the average Amish educated 8th grader knew/knows as much as a typical high school senior in other parts of the nation. Added bonus: they can also grow their own food and dairy!
Wishing you and Chevy Man a fun and peaceful evening tonight! 🙂
Hi Kes,
Tessie's Children And Grandchildren Will Be Extremely Blessed With Everything She Has Kept That Can Be Handed Down To them!
Lovely To See You Here Tonight Dear Friend,
I Was Thinking That The Music In This Video That Owen Remarked On, Especially The Harp Could Possibly Aid In A Good Night Sleep- No?☺️
GOD Bless
Andrea
kes, That ledger book is a real treasure for sure not many left around from that time period I was amazed the Ingalls family traveled for miles in that wagon too I would not be surprised that Amish kids knows the same as a high school senior too the Amish really have it down pat when it comes to economics and growing food :-)
Hey Kes my sister PAL, I'm at my son's house now with one of my grandsons I picked up to spend the weekend with me. I could not make comments earlier than now because I've been playing and coloring, making milkshakes and snacking lol. I'm pooped out now. Just wanted to say good night and sweet dreams and I'll type at you soon.🤗💙🙏
@@pr9764hey Andrea my sisterfriend you can probably find the harp music on youtube if you want to play it to sleep by. Tessie list the music she uses under the more ... button. Hope you are already sleeping good now but you can try it another night if you write the artist and song name down for later. I hope to lay down soon myself. Jut wanted to say hey before I do Tessie's comment and get off for the night. Type at you soon.🤗💙🙏
@@pr9764 A very good point, dear Sister -- music is really helpful when it comes to "winding down" at bedtime! I do love harp music too! (And sometimes I try to find a podcast with those night sounds -- crickets, waves, the wind blowing in the trees, etc.) This 21st century world doesn't always make sleep easy. That's one area where the Amish of the 1880s had an advantage: peace and quiet at night! (Unless there happened to be a thunderstorm? 😀 )
And yes! Tessie and Kenny's children and grand children will be thanking them for many years for keeping all the furniture and mementos of those early years! Blessings to you and yours!

Hi, Tessie. I just loved those Laura Ingalls Wilder quotes; she's always been a hero of mine. Those photos and the ledger are treasures. I spent time with my Nana this week, and she gave me a cookbook of hers from 1949 (when she gave it to me, I thought, "Oh, I need to tell Tessie about this!"). It was a wedding present gifted to her and my Pop-Pop. I've been cooking from it all week and so enjoy making the vintage recipes. Your pantry is simply inspirational. You've got me thinking about what I need for my winter larder. Blessings to you and your family!
How Wonderful That You Still Have Your Nana Laura And Are Able To Gleen Knowledge From Her!

Hi Tessie. Me and my older brother have been study our ancestry. I love the old times. My house is from the year 1900. Enjoy your weekend.
There are a lot of shop/business types you have in America that we don't have in Australia.
Lovely and so old fashioned. Thanks for taking us along the drive Tessie. I loved living in PA. Remember that beautiful scenery. GOD bless you Tessie. ~ Debbie
I was going to write that your store reminds me of the Galaxy store in Skidmore, Mo. next door to Maryville, Mo. the video went from the dry goods to the fruit and vegetables. The Galaxy store is named after the road it is on and it is a Mennonite store and a lot of things are bagged up much the same way. The store seldom had fruit though. I always stocked up on spices and they were really fresh and good for a nominal price. Sometimes I would buy a hand made basket I loved looking at them and to turn them over to see how old the child was that made it! All the baskets were made perfectly too.
Tessie,
warching you is like looking back in time and learning how to appreciate how things were then. Thank you.❤
Thank you so much !!
If I had a larder like yours I would not want to use anything because it looks so picture perfect. So pleasing to the eye. Beautiful. Yes a 'Little house in the prairie'. My 2 favourites series, Little House in the Prairie and Anne of green gable. I have both full series on DVD.

I love your Laura Ingalls quotes!! My husband and I are going to Pepin WI in a couple weeks where Laura lived. I have been wanting to go there since I was a little girl! I am now 57. I have cut my UA-cam watching to only a couple. I will always keep watching yours! I feel like we are soul sisters because we have a lot in common about keeping the old ways alive!! I also enjoyed the quotes from the books that you inserted in the video. It's like history coming alive. 😊

Good evening Tessie
I loved the quote by Laura Ingalls Wilder. My mom went to grade school very close to where Laura lived in the Big Woods. A relative of hers, Alvie Ingalls, raised sheep and was a friend of my grandma. My grandpa had Laura's aunt Laura for a teacher.
Wow! You really do have a lot of "Ingalls history" in your family!
Hello Tessie, I love going to the Mennonite store and buying their dry goods. I guess we are all stocking up for the winter. Loved the old diary, very neat to hear the story. Thank You for sharing it.
Great video! Would you ever do a video on what kind of mom you were? Like your rules and if you were frugal then. Also, do you iron your clothes? They always look so nice.
That's a really good idea no I don't really use the iron anymore these days cause most of the clothing I wear is cotton
I like to freeze flor & rices for at keast 24 hours. It kilks off any buggys that hitchhiked home!😊
I really enjoyed this video, Tessie. Oh, my home sweet home. Thx for showing the drive of beautiful PA. Also, loved you showing stocking up your winter larder. As you read about the items he had in his store, it really did remind me of Mr Nelson's mercantile in Little House on the Prairie. And wow, of all dates you could have started reading from his diary, you started w July 12 which is my bday. Sometimes I feel like they're little God winks saying I'm where I'm supposed to be. God bless you and have a wonderful weekend!😊🧡🌻🍂

I love seeing your pantry Tessie. Thank you for another lovely video. You’re my daily dose of happiness ❤
I'm not familiar with the word "larder" is it different from a pantry?
Either way, it looks wonderful. Love it!
No just an old fashioned word for a food shortage area
I believe they use the word ‘larder’ in the UK…
No the word larder is another word for pantry it's just a very old world word they used to use the word larder back in the 1800s and yes I think that they still use that in other countries it's just something that us as Americans don't hear very often and I try to find words that are different
Enjoyed this video a lot! Interesting history from journal! Btw, I use pastry flour for muffins sometimes and they are yummy!
May I ask how you dried the veggies with no dehydrator? I would love to dry some veggies for my larder.
I dry mine in the sun in cookie sheets with a clean piece of screen over it. I doubt you could do it now as you need several days of good strong son like in the middle of summer
you can also dry them in the car at the windshield which I have a video on that these days I do use the dehydrator with a solar battery pack
Very good. Feels good to be set for the cold months. We went through our own pantry/larder and reorganized to see what holes needed to be filled. Small shopping trip tomorrow but we are all set.
So interesting thank you for sharing your history with us!
So beautifully done Tessie❤

Hello Andrea and happy Friday@@pr9764
Great video, yes we are preparing for the colder months. Soon will be hanging the heavier curtains and plastic on the windows...need to get out the hall quilts that we hang in the hall way. I also do need to make my dry goods list and get that bought...we try to have much of it done by mid Oct but I'm praying i can do most since hubby just had shoulder surgery and is very limited in work the next 6 weeks. Have great weekend what is left
Happy Friday Tessie ❤❤
Beautiful pantry and dry goods. Very interesting to look at.
I think it was great that you used some of Laura Ingalls sayings, I loved watching Little House on the Prairie. But, I did cringe a little when you folded the book binding backwards. With something that old, I would be a little gentler with it, as I noticed some of the pages were already falling out. But, I do enjoy watching your channel.
I love how you read from Grandma Fannie's diary those are some great videos❤
Thank you so much!
Got our travel trailer and car covered, the rain will be here for 10 days in the PNW, Im ready for fall.
Please be careful how you hold those old books as they are fragile. Possibly wear gloves to protect the paper from oils in your skin.
I have never heard the term larder, very interesting!
Hello have a great evening.
Also loving the other diaries that you read out of❤
I enjoyed this video as one of your best ! Your winter larder is beautiful ,
