    It's a true pleasure to see a user actually use the provided blade guard!

      I lost the one on my old saw, on this one the dust collection works so well I'd be crazy not to use it.

      Definitely something I am trying to force myself to get used to.

    Thank you so much for including the part list with the video and even links! I just bought a Sawstop Jobsite Saw and have been having difficulty setting up my dust collection like I wanted to... basically what I had in mind is exactly what you did. Thank you for finding the parts that work together. You saved me a ton of headache.

    I have the same saw. Bought it brand new back in November for some projects I am doing around the house. I love it. We use Sawstop Cabinet saws where I work. When people ask is a Sawstop worth it I say because of the safety feature that yes it is. Others may not think so but I want to keep all my digits until I make it the the Pearly Gates so to me it is worth it. Plus it does a darn fine job at cutting wood. I suppose my only complain is the fence. It can move when I lock it down. Before I do lock the fence in place I hold it and pull back a little bit then lock it. No issues with the fence moving when I do that

      @GregsWorkshopOregon  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah, the fence does take one or two tries to get it where you want it. I'll put up with it though.

    I appreciate you leaving the audio in the video of the saw starting up. So many do not do this! I have been trying to find audio of the startup to hear how the motor sounds and if it's a hard start or has a ramp up. Seemed like there's a small ramp up on the motor (good). I just sold my Ridgid 10" cast iron saw and am contemplating my next (smaller) table saw for my small workshop. Thanks for the video Greg!

      I'm glad you found it useful! Are you looking for the soft start so that it's easier on your off-grid system?

      You're welcome Gary, glad you found the video useful. I also have a couple videos of building an outfeed table if you're interested.

    I bought the jobsite saw. Only used twice but love it. Can't wait for spring to use it more. Safety features are great. 😊

    Nice review Greg. My unisaw was bought before this technology existed and I don’t ever plan on replacing it so I haven’t watched the reviews that are out there in the past. Because of that I’ve never seen the low fence explained. What a great idea! I will definitely be figuring out how to add one to my saws fence. I’ll do a video on that when I do.

    Great job, I really like how you set up your dust collection system. I have and love this saw too. Would you be able to add links to the fittings and other pieces you used to set it up? It looks so good I'd like to copy it completely. Thanks for posting this video!

      Thanks Greg looks like it should be a piece of cake getting it set up now! I still have my original short 2" shop vacuum hose. I think that I'll try to repurpose that hose again, I think that should work well with the other fittings. In the past a few times I used two vacuum cleaners hooked up on the saw, but that's a pain to get set up and use like that. I think that I'll definitely be using the safer guard much more often than the riving knife. All while controlling the dust much better. Thanks Again Jim

    Nice video, I see you had a Bosch 4100 I'm curious how it compares in power? As a hobbyist I've had several saws over the years from cabinet to small table tops. I've had the 4100 for several years and never had a power issue. I'm thinking of a saw stop but not sure how it would compare since the 4100 is rated up to 4hp. I know that 4hp may be arbitrary but it is what Bosch prints on the saw. Thanks!

    In your list of items used for your dust collection you have a Rockler swivel fitting - but when I watched your video I didn't see where you have it in place. Also, how long is your hose to the top saw guard port? Thanks!

    Great review . What size vacuum did you use.? Would a Rigid stand alone be strong enough?or what would you reccomend

      I have the Ridgid 6 gallon shop vac run through an Oneida cyclone separator, it works great.

      There aren't a lot of good reviews for this saw out there, hopefully this one helps someone with their research.

      @@GregsWorkshopOregon "there aren't a lot of good reviews"
      Perhaps that is because others have had interesting experiences with the saw and with SawStop
      customer service. Yes, I realize you may have meant something else, but I have seen the videos and if it were not for the safety feature, fewer would be sold in favor of better quality saws.
      For a review of the Saw Stop and several other job site saws.. you might look at this you tube channel:

      Fair enough. I did watch that video prior to purchasing, the only thing I really have to compare it to from personal experience is my Bosch 4100 and it's overall a better saw.

    Did you shorten the hose attached to the hose attached to the blade gourd?

    • @GregsWorkshopOregon
      @GregsWorkshopOregon  2 роки тому +1

      I did. It's roughly five feet, I made it long enough to work with the table extended. Some extra hangs down when the table is retracted but that's ok. I tried using the expandable hose but it didn't stay rigid enough to span the extended table.

    How did you attach the hose support piece for the dust hose?

    • @GregsWorkshopOregon
      @GregsWorkshopOregon  2 роки тому +1

      I drilled holes in the edge of the table (yes, I know...) and secured it with three #10 panhead machine screws through the holes and into t-nuts in the plywood.

    A 2” Fernco rubber elbow does not fit at all on the sawstop dust collection port. It’s actually a 1 1/2” fernco rubber elbow. So you have the wrong item in your itemized list…

    OK after using this saw..
    I'll be selling it as it is not a professional grade saw. The fence is a complete joke and to further illustrate poor design and low quality have a look at the child's toy they call a miter gauge...insulting junk.
    Grossly overpriced and as a buyer, I was buying into the safety features...I watched their web site video and swallowed the Kool-Aid when they said " the most accurate job site saw on the market".
    That is not in evidence.
    Buy a quality saw and be careful.. that is the advice to myself.
    $1500 ... absurd.
