    This saw has a critical design flaw which makes it a bad choice for anyone doing fine woodworking or finish carpentry. The blade is not situated fore-to-aft where it should be relation to the fence. Even when pushed all the way back, it’s too far forward, so that as you’re finishing a cut, the teeth are exiting through the top of your workpiece lifting up unsupported fibers resulting in tearout. It’s too bad because the saw seems nice in many other respects. Glad it’s doing what you need it to do, Greg, it looks like you have a nice setup there. Hope this helps anyone considering purchasing.

      anyone doing fine woodworking should know better than to use a miter saw for anything besides rough cutting, everything else should be done on ur table saw.

    Did you screw the actual unit to the board? With just screws in the two wings the unit will still lift off of the board

    I would put a plexiglass window into the dust collection box so you could see how dusty it is, observe functionality, and see the wheels spin if you step back (but not get distracted by them while cutting since the window is only into the bottom wheel where it is needed)

    From a fellow “Greg.” This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen. Loved it. I’m just coming back to woodworking and turning after a 24 year change of career that has taken me to retirement as of a few months ago. Carpentry was the first half of my work life. I truly appreciate your humble style and logic. I appreciate that you’re not (yet) in 5000sf shop with 80K worth of tools which seems to be the norm on videos. I love that your plan is as on a paper bag and made sense. You also light and film very well and have good sound. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Keep up the good work. I have a two car garage. 1/5 of which is treated wood stacked for drying to turn. So I’m steeling your flip cart idea to help save space.

    Another great job. I’m 76 and 8 weeks past a triple bypass. I’ve been a ‘jackknife carpenter’ in the past but only to build simple things. During my recovery I’ve been bingeing on UA-cam clips of French cleat systems, plus tips and tricks, jigs and shortcuts. And I’ve been inspired! In the past couple of weeks I’ve handed over a king’s ransom for tools……table saw, router, shop vac, brad nailer, measuring devices and on and on……..Looking forward to getting down to business. Your channel is a good resource, one that is teaching an old dog new tricks. 🦮 🔨 🪚 🩹 🧰

    I got one and love it. Recommend you put threadlocker on the allen screws on the adjustment end as well as the spring-loaded adjustment pin in the back. They will be wanting to back out until you do.

    • @shwagonvids

      Do you have a part number for the adjustment pin you used?

    • @evanhawkins6073
      @evanhawkins6073 4 місяці тому

      @shwagonvids My original allen screws backed out on me before I could put the threadlocker on. I called Harbor Freight, and they did not jave replacement screws, but I figured it out. The allen screws are M5 x 50, which you can pick up at Ace Hardware for about $1.79 apiece. The adjustment pin never got lost, but I do not know the part number for it.
